Diamonds that huge just look like glass. Hideously expensive glass obv but I’m afraid I don’t see the appeal. It’s just ostentatious wealth flashing.

Wallis's emerald is the ring I like most, with Camilla's diamond as runner up. Mind you, Eugenie's peachy sapphire is lovely too.

My engagement ring is diamond and pear from the 20's. It was DH's great aunt's.
I love the coloured stone rings of the BRF, especially the sapphires and emeralds.
CPM has a nice diamond and Ruby number.

I found a closer look at the Duchess of Gloucesters ring. Such a shame it's not in colour!

Sadly but predictably, she seems to wear a huge but very conventional diamond cluster beside her wedding ring now.

Actually I have no idea where she was supposed to fit a wedding ring. Her finger can barely bend by the looks of it!

If that doesn't scream "my arty fiancé designed it himself" then I don't know what does.

The size / value of the engagement ring bears no relation to the happiness of the subsequent marriage judging by the recent photos on this thread.

James Middleton has just got engaged to Alizee Thevenet.
Apparently he has also given her a sapphire.

It’s not an engagement ring, but my favourite “ royal ring” is the whopping aquamarine Diana wore on her ring finger after her divorce. I also like her eternity ring with the different shaped stones.

I just did some googling & discovered that the Duchess of Gloucester’s original ring was silver & coral. The Duke was an architect but his older brother, Prince William, died so he had to concentrate on family responsibilities. They got married in 1972, I think her ring is what I’d expect an architect to have designed in the early 1970s.
