Statement bridal earrings - help please

Hello everyone

Been trawling online but everything just seems a bit MEH. My dress is very simple (I posted a pic of it here a few months ago and people thought it looked a bit Audrey Hepburn / Sofia Loren style just to give you an idea) and I think I want to spruce it up with some big earrings as I am wearing my hair in a low bun.

For reference I am wearing a simple pearl bracelet and a small tiara with diamante and pearl incorporated into it. The veil is very plain.

These are some of the earrings I have favourited but don't quite hit the spot:

number 1

number 2

number 3

Hope you can help :)

I personally wouldn't do tiara and earrings, it feels like way too much.

For chicer statement earrings look at:

  • Carat london
  • Soru
  • Net-a-porter have a good range, Kenneth Lane etc
AnneKipanki · 24/09/2019 13:01

I think 1 and 2 are too much . 3 is the favourite for me here.
I would keep it very simple..plain pearls .

DementorsKiss · 24/09/2019 13:05

needs a picture of the dress to be able to tell

Kanga83 · 24/09/2019 13:09

Three are lovely, simple and statement. One and two look fake and ott and I think would look worse with a tiara. Three will look lovely on the day and in photos in years to come

They all look cheap. If you want to go statement I’d steer clear of large cubic zirconia stones etc as they look tacky. How about Swarovski crystal? More pearl based?
Tiaras are really dated now, have you looked at any of the bridal headbands/head pieces from bridal shops/online shops etc?
Same effect as a tiara but more up to date. I see a lot of brides really over do everything and look ‘busy’ and actually very cheap.
Really, I’d need to see a pic of the dress to fully give an opinion.

awellawellawella · 24/09/2019 13:28

Picture to get an idea of the look. I don't think the tiara is massively noticeable... What do we all think? Looks like so far the concensus is go more simple...

walkintheparc - will check out your recommendations thank you

I never thought I would ever go for a tiara but after months of shopping and trying things, its the only piece I really loved. I was even going to go for flowers at one point. So anyway the tiara is staying!

"I personally wouldn't do tiara and earrings, it feels like way too much."

I'm inclined to agree. As a glasses wearer I don't wear hats to weddings. Glasses, a hat and earrings is just too much head clutter to be a good look.

awellawellawella · 24/09/2019 13:38

I'm beginning to doubt the tiara now...

Can you post a pic of the tiara?

TwattingDog · 24/09/2019 13:39

I fully expected to wear huge chandelier earrings as well, but when I tried them on with the dress, the effect wasn't at all what I pictured.

Have you had everything on together yet?

I wore earrings similar to these, which were a gift from DH on our first Xmas together:

Sometimes less is more!

awellawellawella · 24/09/2019 13:44

Yeah I love big earrings, I'm always wearing them and feel naked without. So just kind of expected I would always wear big bridal earrings.

Have tried the dress, tiara and veil together but not with the bracelet (see above pic)

this is the tiara

TwattingDog - very pretty earrings. I just can't imagine myself wearing something so dainty!

walkintheparc - all those shops are far too expensive for me. I am looking to spend £30 maximum.

That's why all my choices look cheap...because they are :(

There are more Pearl and less blingy

Statement bridal earrings - help please
awellawellawella · 24/09/2019 13:56

switcharoo they are lovely and different from the ones that keep coming up on my searches. Amazon too so I imagine affordable!

I am feeling a bit deflated on the responses though and doubting my tiara choice because if I had to chose between big earrings and a tiara...I'd go earrings...

Now I have been convinced I can't get away with both...dammit!!

i'd stick with the tiara but wear more classy simple earnings - something along these lines - www.glitzysecrets.com/eternally-pearl-earrings/?nosto=nosto-page-category1

AnneKipanki · 24/09/2019 13:58

Those Etsy ones are similar to something Sophia Loren has been pictured wearing. ( A long drop with a pearl on the end )

awellawellawella · 24/09/2019 14:00

DementorsKiss - Those are really lovely and a contender. Good price too.

AnneKipanki - which etsy ones? I posted 3 of them x

The Queen and other royal women wear tiaras and earrings, so can you. 👸

Apolloanddaphne · 24/09/2019 14:02

Keep the tiara. It is lovely. Those long drop earrings are gorgeous.

switcharoo · 24/09/2019 14:02

Yes £15 I think, I just searched 'statement pearl earrings' and they came up. Free returns on prime so why not try them with the tiara, my instinct would be both is a bit like a little girl dressing up and often less is more and one would look lovely and classy. You'll standout whatever on the day as you're the bride :)

VolcanionSteamArtillery · 24/09/2019 14:03

Please dont give up your tiara!! You will regret it. Or the earrings either. If youre getting married you want to look like you!!!

HarryRug · 24/09/2019 14:07

Your dress is beautiful and you look very elegant in it. It’s your wedding day you can’t really over-do it in my opinion so keep the tiara. You will find the right earrings.
