Tour itinerary

As always, let's critique the clothes and not the wearers.

Ah just realised the time & we're already into Sunday!

beanaseireann · 22/09/2019 01:30

The bridal party are staying at the Hotel de Russie in Rome. The DM has pics of them lunching at the hotel.
Staying there is about the only thing I'll ever have in common with the people featured on this thread.
It truly has the most magical garden and central courtyard area. You forget you are in the middle of a bustling city.
It also had the hardest mattresses of any hotel bed I've ever slept on. I didnt mind but others in our group complained.

Bad news on Tiarawatch.

From The Telegraph:

"Although the Duke will attend several receptions at British High Commissions to celebrate the UK's ties with the countries he is visiting, with the Duchess joining him in South Africa, there are few evening events in a programme designed in part to take into account the needs of Archie.

The decision will mean that royal-watchers will not see the Duchess in a tiara or other major pieces of jewellery borrowed from the Queen."

Rhubarbisevil · 22/09/2019 07:52

Are they too tight to pay a babysitter?

mindproject · 22/09/2019 07:54

The royal family are lying about Prince Andrew.

Carry on.

AppleKatie · 22/09/2019 07:57

Too tight to pay for a babysitter or the queen wouldn’t lend a tiara? 😂

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 22/09/2019 08:07

@AppleKatie

😂😂😂

BertrandRussell · 22/09/2019 08:28

Does that mean no posh frocks either?

QueenOfTheAndals · 22/09/2019 08:28

Depressing but I think you're right @mindproject. The Wessexes were at Balmoral this summer and I did wonder how Sophie felt about it, given her work with women who've experienced sexual violence.

I suppose taking diamonds to SA is a bit "Coals to Newcastle". I'm sure there will be Frocks.

ThingsImighthavedone · 22/09/2019 08:35

But this makes no sense! M has left Archie twice for two days yet she can’t leave him for an evening? What nonsense. Obviously the nannny will be there. She said she had to rush home to feed Archie at the launch of Smart Works. It just makes no sense. If she’s managing to express enough milk to feed him for two days, one evening will not be out of the question.
I couldn’t express milk myself and wouldn’t have managed any of what she’s doing. Could only get away for a couple of hours at a time.

BertrandRussell · 22/09/2019 08:40

They may be one of those couples- there are many on this very forum- who will only leave the baby with the other parent? Personally, I think it’s a bit bonkers- but they seem to get lots of support on here......

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 22/09/2019 08:41

Checking in ahead of the next couple of tours. Love seeing the outfits. Especially looking forward to Kate and Wills in Pakistan.

BigGreenOlives · 22/09/2019 08:45

I couldn’t have coped if I’d only ever left my children with their father, he was away for extended periods of time until the youngest was 13.

Is their visit an official State Visit or less formal? Harry is so far down the order of accession now.

QueenOfTheAndals · 22/09/2019 08:46

It doesn't say there aren't going to be any evening events. There's one planned on Tuesday evening.

OP posts:
ThingsImighthavedone · 22/09/2019 08:47

But they’ve just left Archie with the nanny whilst they were in Rome..

BertrandRussell · 22/09/2019 08:54

Fair enough. I thought the original programme said there were evening events. Definitely odd that it’s changed.then.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 22/09/2019 08:57

Maybe she is pregnant again? Didn't she struggle with the evening stuff on her last tour when pregnant with Archie?

QueenOfTheAndals · 22/09/2019 09:04

I don't think so, she attended all the evening events on that tour @BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz.

It sounds like this tour was always intended to be more grassroots and meeting people who were involved in community initiatives at a local level. They're certainly packing a lot into the daytime, judging from the itinerary.

OP posts:
BertrandRussell · 22/09/2019 09:09

Yes- it’s not a state visit, is it?

PreschoolYes · 22/09/2019 09:09

Maybe they both feel uncomfortable leaving Archie when he's not at home in his usual environment, even with his nanny. I'd have probably felt like that when DS was only a few months old.

itswinetime · 22/09/2019 09:13

The lack of evening events may have nothing to with Archie! Maybe after all the buzz about Harry and Meghans spending and showbiz lifestyle they felt the more glamorous events would take away from the messages they want to send! Meghan could have done any amount of visits during the day to highlight charities and the story would be all about how much her dress costs why didn't the queen lend her better jewels/who does she think she is flashing the jewels etc.

It could be nothing to do with that 🤷🏻‍♀️ But seems as likely as any other reason.

BertrandRussell · 22/09/2019 09:17

Storm in a teacup. Two evening events. Meghan will go to one of them. Lots of stuff going on during the days. Insofar as royal people work hard at all, it looks like quite a busy schedule. By royal standards!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 22/09/2019 09:19

I suspect Archie is being used as an excuse not to attend some possibly quite boring black tie events. They may not even have said it themselves, could be more dodgy PR.

BertrandRussell · 22/09/2019 09:25

“I suspect Archie is being used as an excuse not to attend some possibly quite boring black tie events”
But there aren’t any in the schedule! Well there are two evening events.....
