As always, let's critique the clothes and not the wearers.

Apologies BlingLoving it was peridito who
mentioned it first- and not as a criticism.

latedecember1963 · 23/09/2019 12:06

I can't get on a plane without a packet of Opal Fruits in my handbag!

LenoVintura · 23/09/2019 12:11

Is it cold there? Meghan and the baby look dressed for winter, Harry not so much.

latedecember1963 · 23/09/2019 12:18

Is it early Spring, so chilly in the morning perhaps?

TokyoSushi · 23/09/2019 12:47

I can't post pictures from my phone, goodness knows why but there are pictures now on Twitter of Meghan in a black & white dress arriving at their first engagement. Like the dress, less keen on the shoes!

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 23/09/2019 12:51

I like the dress and the shoes.,

BlingLoving · 23/09/2019 13:00

Its early spring so definitely cool. I think they said max temp of about 18 today, with wind. So sunny and bright, but probably not exactly warm. Especially when they were getting off the plane.

AppleKatie · 23/09/2019 13:01

He is very cute!

iknowimcoming · 23/09/2019 13:01

Blimey looks like Megs has borrowed Kate's tie-up espadrilles! Grin

UrsulaPandress · 23/09/2019 13:08

Shoes a bit clunky but like the dress.

Nanamilly · 23/09/2019 13:09

Does anyone know where Meghans black and white dress is from?

evilharpy · 23/09/2019 13:13

Meghan's dress here

Sold out but it was £69.

I really like the dress and shoes.

TokyoSushi · 23/09/2019 13:14

I realise my 'goodness knows why' could be misread! It relates to not knowing why my phone won't post pictures, not why the pictures are on twitter!

BlingLoving · 23/09/2019 13:14

I never really understand why they don't wear flats. I can totally understand why heels wouldn't work at event like this, especially outside, so a lovely pair of flats, even with a very small heel, would work better surely than the awkward wedges?

TokyoSushi · 23/09/2019 13:15

Ah the dress is vegan and made in Malawi, very 'on message' - I like it!

evilharpy · 23/09/2019 13:17

BlingLoving if you're very used to heels you can find flats uncomfortable. Unless it was a supportive pair of trainers I'd probably prefer the wedges to some totally flat shoes.

hopeishere · 23/09/2019 13:21

Wrap dress - never a good idea, too much clutching at the hem to stop it blowing open although she does appear to have a slip on.

BlingLoving · 23/09/2019 13:22

@evilharpy - that's a good point I guess. Still find it weird (and actually, almost every pair of flattish/low heel sandals I've had that are lovely and comfortable were purchased in SA. Maybe I should send Meghan some shopping tips!? She can get a bit of a heel, still be practical and comfortable? Grin)

YahBasic · 23/09/2019 13:23

I think we are going to see lots of tribal prints in muted colours & sustainable fabrics for Meghan on this trip.

itswinetime · 23/09/2019 13:35

Photos for those who haven't seen it yet.

I like it it's on trend (wrap dresses are everywhere) much to the annoyance off the bigger chested amongst us, it's on message, and at £69 it's a royal bargain! I think it suits her. Hair an makeup are flawless but that's something Meghan always seems to have put together.

I'm going against the grain here but I love wedges and think they make perfect sense for comfortable heels. I don't, however, love the dress. It feels very casual and a tiny bit drab given all the sunshine. I'd wear it to do day to day chores but not for 'an event'. Hair and make-up fab as usual though.

Ninkaninus · 23/09/2019 14:39

I think wedges are fab, too, and actually I think they make sense here. I like the outfit although I agree, I hope she will wear some beautiful, bright colours too.

Wedges are perfectly comfortable if you’re used to wearing heels, which Meghan is, plus everyone feels more at ease wearing the kinds of things one is accustomed to and comfortable wearing. She will also have to be conscious of not seemingly dressing down too much as that could be perceived as being patronising and/or dismissive.

I think the outfit works well for a daytime engagement that’s not too formal.

ThingsImighthavedone · 23/09/2019 14:46

I like the dress and shoes. Her hair and make up are great.

BertrandRussell · 23/09/2019 14:50

I love the dress- hate the shoes. I think she’s so short they make her look unbalanced. That’s why Kate can get away with them-because she’s so tall.

Pieceofpurplesky · 23/09/2019 14:51

I think the dress is lovely - not a dress to do chores in at all. I would wear it for summer lunch/party/holiday as it looks cool and is clearly an ethical choice.
