Only one make up counter, which one?

I need a complete make up do-over, I'm just running out of foundation and want to go for a bit of everything but I dont fancy schlepping through a few counters so just thought I'd go to one, speak to a consultant and get a face made and buy what I liked.

I'll probably go to Sepfridges so have the choice of Mac, Charlotte Tilbury, Bobbi Brown etc. Which one would you recommend?

I'm a fair skinned white woman and want regular, good quality make up for day to day that lasts well and looks well.

Any recommendations please!

Bobbi Brown every time!

Ninkaninus · 27/08/2019 18:04

Bobbi Brown, for sure!

Alsohuman · 27/08/2019 18:33

Bobbi for me.

Belgravian · 27/08/2019 18:56

I disagree! Bobbi Brown are awful!

Chanel.

TSSDNCOP · 27/08/2019 18:59

Bobbi

plunkplunkfizz · 27/08/2019 18:59

Bobbi Brown.

Pinkyyy · 27/08/2019 18:59

I'd go for Nars if I could only use one. They have some really good foundation and powders and their lipsticks, eyeshadows etc are great too.

ooooohbetty · 27/08/2019 19:01

Estée Lauder's make up is the best imho.

Destinesia · 27/08/2019 19:02

Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown, Charlotte Tilbury or Becca.

Marc Jacobs was the best one I've been to, but its no longer available where I live.

MustardScreams · 27/08/2019 19:02

Bobbi Brown are great for doing looks that you can actually replicate at home.

Rosere · 27/08/2019 19:03

Lancome. Never irritated my skin. They have make up that's timeless. I go, my little sis goes, and for special occasions I bring my mum who is 75, and there's something to suit everyone.

I’ve found all Charlotte Tilbury make up to be absolutely dreadful.

I’d go to Nars or Chanel.

Atlasta · 27/08/2019 19:19

I'd go to Dior

AnnaDine · 27/08/2019 19:24

Bobbi Brown!

Iamtooknackeredtorun · 27/08/2019 19:25

Charlotte Tilbury for me. Cruelty free as well unlike anything Mac and Benefit et al

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 27/08/2019 19:28

Nars

Laura Mercier. But I would buy highly rated items, according to what I wanted, from across the range rather than everything from one counter. I woiuldn't, for example, buy a high end wash-off cleanser, but would splurge on a skin oil or serum. Most cosmetics, I'd try from Beauty Pie.

XingMing · 27/08/2019 19:37

And if I liked the Beauty Pie stuff, I'd consider the branded upmarket versions and aim to give them a trial to see if they were really better.

Beauty Pie's Rummy Pink lipliner is a ringer for the CT Pillow Talk, I am told. £5 per month to try a few bits makes sense to me.

nitgel · 27/08/2019 19:37

Nars

The Bobbi Brown counter at Selfridges is good. If you can, go during the week and get there in the morning when they open and are quieter. I had a makeup lesson there for free, the make up artist did one side of my face and I copied her doing the other side. No pressure to buy, but of course I did buy some (!) and still using them a few years later as they last so well.

SinglePringle · 27/08/2019 19:44

Nars
Surrat
Laura Mercier
By Terry
Kevin Aucyon

(Basically, go to a decent sized Space NK not Selfridges!)

chipsandgin · 27/08/2019 19:46
