Have I lost the plot completely with this dress as a wedding guest?

Is there any way that this dress could be styled to make it suitable to wear to wedding? I'd size down for a start. I saw Trinny wearing it on her facebook page here and thought the colour was gorgeous.
Am I mad or could it possibly work?

Nite ... The OP is clearly a less tall, stylish, very fashion-forward/experimental person who would probably look wonderful in either dress - if the quality is good enough.

I despair of most of you! And won’t be inviting you to any wedding of mine in your boring frocks.

I prefer the black one.
Zara is doing something right if their clothes are selling out.

It's influence is either mormon or the handmaids tale.Confused

This thread is mind boggling - the blue dress is freakin gorgeous - this is S&B people!

I haven't been to a wedding in about 20 years before last year when I went to two. There seemed to be a rule for every woman under the age of 60 that shoes had to be high, dresses had to be short and sleeveless. Everyone looked awkward and somehow a bit 90's. As for your dress, I agree that if the congregation is fashion forward you'll be a hit. Also you will be comfortable and it is a cute dress. You could style it in so many ways with different footwear.

In an editorial sense its gorgeous, real life wear - not so much. It looks like it would crease horribly after a few minutes and look appalling. Trinny has massively altered that, which is probably testament to how ill fitting and unflattering it was in the first place. I don't see the need to wear voluminous high fashion to a wedding either if i am honest. It's a day for the bride to stand out, not an excuse for guests to try and do so because they don't have anywhere else to wear a dress they would like to wear that they wouldn't to an ordinary event.

Don't get me wrong OP i get the look, I love that sort of thing but I wouldn't wear either. Have seen the black dress in store and it was very striking on the mannequin but did look a bit like a halloween costume made fashion ( which i am here for visually, but not for wearing to other peoples parties unless they are all also on the same page). Zara are doing a great line in couture inspired dressed at the moment, which photograph well and are striking, so get picked up by bloggers, who i am sure take most of them off as soon as they've got the shot.

I like the blue and the black (the type of dress everyone would comment on and ask where it's from) but would need to see them on. Like all of these threads .... depends on the wearer!

Housewife2010 · 24/08/2019 22:00

Sarah Jossell, beauty journalist us wearing it here.

Have I lost the plot completely with this dress as a wedding guest?
actuallyquitesmall · 24/08/2019 23:23

Yes... and Sarah Jossell says "Trinny made me do it!" so she's probably wearing Trinny's altered one.

The black one's better, but a bit Halloweeny.

icannotremember · 25/08/2019 01:01

The black one isn't too bad but the blue is awful. It may be fashionable but that doesn't mean it looks good. I'm sure if you felt comfortable and confident in it you would carry it off- but it would still be an unattractive and unflattering dress.

Deadringer · 25/08/2019 01:06

Ghastly

Rumblejungle · 25/08/2019 01:19

The blue one is a pretty colour but the style and the material is beyond awful. I cannot see anything about it that is good. It is like the model has got stuck in a blue tent. Black one - not great either, just looks like the woman is wearing a smaller black tent. Sorry, but both appalling. Also you cannot wear black to a wedding.

The current trend for this style of dress baffles me. As someone above said it’s like Little House on the Prairie design but then using horrible synthetic material. Nobody can look good in these. Even the models look like they are wearing a tent to me.

Tbh publicity photos of any ‘celebrity’ wearing a thing would kill it stone dead for me ...
