Have I lost the plot completely with this dress as a wedding guest?

Is there any way that this dress could be styled to make it suitable to wear to wedding? I'd size down for a start. I saw Trinny wearing it on her facebook page here and thought the colour was gorgeous.
Am I mad or could it possibly work?

I cant quite explain why it appeals to me. Nothing about it sounds like it should but somehow it does.

I think the alterations comments are probably correct.

She either bought three sizes smaller or had it altered...possibly both? It looks good on Trinny but possibly a bit casual for a wedding.

SugarHockeyIcedTea · 22/08/2019 20:00

Good grief-No!

It would make anyone look like they are wearing a hand me down blanket.

CherryPavlova · 22/08/2019 20:01

Unless you wanted to look awful I’d avoid it. It is shapeless and wouldn’t flatter anyone.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/08/2019 20:01

And why is Trinny wearing shoes that are far too big for her?

ChelseaCat · 22/08/2019 20:02

I bloody love it! Might steal your idea @MoltonSilver

sanmiguel · 22/08/2019 20:02

What kind of wedding?

GivenchyDahhling · 22/08/2019 20:05

I find a lot of stuff on the Zara website is modelled hugely oversized/tent like on the models but actually when you see it in store and get it in your size (or, often, a size down for something that is roomy) it doesn’t look anything like that. So I don’t think it necessarily has been altered, I think it’s typical Zara 🙄

JMAngel1 · 22/08/2019 20:06

It could look seriously cool - skycraper block heel, lob or tied up hair, no jewellery except one statement wrist and an oversized huge clutch bag. A yellow bag and clashing heels would look good. I think it looks better on the Zara model - the whole point is the oversize sleeve.

MoltonSilver · 22/08/2019 20:06

Not a church wedding. All indoors, at a hotel. No moving between venues.

I thought that the taffeta look of the fabric might mean that it could be made to look dressy. I love the colour. Maybe part of me feels that I could hide under it :-)

Love it!

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 22/08/2019 20:17

Can you post the Zara link please?

StellaRockafella · 22/08/2019 20:28

Unless it's a black tie event, the dress worn with the right shoes and accessories it will be fine for a wedding.

As others have said, the model on Zara's website is wearing a larger sized dress than her actual dress size. Trinny is wearing an XS, so probably hasn't had the sleeves tapered.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 22/08/2019 20:29

(Sorry just saw the link in op 🙄)

LittleFairywren · 22/08/2019 20:30

What the hell are trinny's shoes? They don't fit her at all. She looks like a little girl playing dress up.

Jayaywhynot · 22/08/2019 20:32

Sorry but it looks the sort of dress that someone who lives in a commune would wear, needs jesus sandals and ratty hair. Really needs chucking in the bin, have another look around, sorry

CaptainBrickbeard · 22/08/2019 20:33

I love it!

Pipandmum · 22/08/2019 20:35

Way too casual. It looks like a dress someone hoping to hide a few extra pounds would wear shopping.
It doesn’t look good on her either.

Laquila · 22/08/2019 20:36

“I cant quite explain why it appeals to me. Nothing about it sounds like it should but somehow it does.”

I know this feeling!!

However that is a VERY directional dress, and not in a good way, I’m afraid.

PasDeGeeGees · 22/08/2019 20:36

It's absolutely vile, and the sort of thing a 1970's toddler would have been dressed in.

Zakana · 22/08/2019 20:37

I have a duvet set in this colour! Exactly! Hate the dress though, even more so with bloody Trinny in it!

NameChange84 · 22/08/2019 20:39

It reminds me of the sheet they put up when you have a C-Section crossed with those cotton frilled round tablecloths they had in bedrooms in the early 90s. Sorry, but it’s awful. Even on Trinny, it’s far too casual and informal for a wedding. I’d really give it a wide berth. In years to come you’ll look at the pictures and wonder what the hell you were thinking. (She says from bitter experience Blush)

JMAngel1 · 22/08/2019 20:48

A wide berth or birth given the C section analogy Grin

Nannewnannew · 22/08/2019 20:49

Sorry, but it’s awful!

ozymandiusking · 22/08/2019 20:51

Sorry, but it's dreadful. I'm sure you can find something much nicer.
