Does this sound a stupid idea?
I have ankle grazer trousers for work. I wear black shoes with them. I want to look like I have tights underneath (like fishnets maybe ) to look more wintery and to keep my feet warm.
I don't want to wear real tights as I'd melt
I can only find fish net ankle socks but they need to be longer than that.
Does it sound stupid? And is it possible to get any like that?

You can get knee highs from boots etc - not sure about fishnet but definitely plain ones

Look for 'knee highs' in the shops, usually with the tights and stockings.

Knee highs aka pop socks. Plenty of them available in M&S. Coming across someone who has never heard of them makes me feel very old.

I do think fishnet pop socks will look ridiculous with ankle grazing trousers - sorry OP!

I wouldn't wear them with anything, how about some really bright or gold glitter fun socks instead if you really want something to keep warm.

I used to wear pop socks a lot. Never had any problem with them falling down. Really cheap to buy too.

I wear them to work. Hideous things, but they do work. A good spray of hairspray on the tops keeps them up!

They used to roll down unattractively I recall, but then it was the 80s!

I think I have ones that are calf high rather than knee high and they usually stay up for me.

I love a good pair of pop socks. Never had an issue with them falling down.

I love hoiking them up underneath my trousers as I get dressed in the winter months, it feels so cosy

Surely this is the whole point of ‘pop socks’ (pop socks are actually those things you wear inside brogues so they don’t show where I come from). You can definitely get patterned ones as well.

The only popsocks I own are fishnet ... Cannot remember where I got them, sorry! But they look good under work trousers.

I only wear my ankle grazer length trousers spring through to early autumn, mostly bare legged, but at a push with nude pop socks. Really wouldn't do fishnet with them but maybe just personal preference! In winter I mostly wear skirts and dresses with black or navy tights to work. Occasionally trousers that look good with a boot.
