That spotty Zara dress

It's in The Guardian today.
Does that mean it's too late to get one?

Wait=waist

BlackSwan · 13/08/2019 06:49

Bleurgh. I suspect someone is even wearing brogues with it.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 13/08/2019 08:19

I saw that article in the paper yesterday, thought it was an unflattering, tent-like garment which made the wearer look Amish, as a PP said. But had never seen it in real life. This morning at Victoria station I saw two women wearing it. It looked shite, but each to their own. I can't go to work looking like I'm wearing a nightie ....

Don't like the Next linen dresses either - shapeless ...

Greenglassteacup · 13/08/2019 09:37

I like the spotty Zara dress but it does t suit me. The next linen dresses are atrocious

Aderyn19 · 13/08/2019 09:42

I have two of the next linen dresses - they were comfy for holidays but I wouldn't rave about them being stylish. Like the Zara dress, comfy and practical is about all you can say for them!

Supersimpkin · 13/08/2019 15:22

I love it and I really want one.

Everyone I've seen in it looks great - I'm not keen on the cheap-but-fitted look that dominates a lot of workwear and weekend stuff in summer.

Ticklemeelmo · 13/08/2019 16:43

Honestly it's horrible. I'm 5'3 and can't wait til the fashion for long full frumpy dresses goes away

Cookit · 13/08/2019 16:59

The wait is dropped on me, maybe I’m a freak

I thought that was the point?

I would buy it for sure if I was still pregnant. But that’s it.

fancytiles · 13/08/2019 17:06

@Cookit I'm 22 weeks and it's an excellent maternity dress :)
No way I will wear it when back to normal size though. It's not awful it's just a bit baggy and Zara do much nicer and more flattering pieces. If only I still had a waist 😂😂😂

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/08/2019 17:06

It's horrible. Saw it for the first time in real life today - drab and unflattering on the 40 something woman who was wearing it.

Having said that, I did buy a plain black short sleeved Next linen dress in desperation when it was so hot and I had to look relatively covered up.

soberfabulous · 13/08/2019 17:12

I have one and I love it! Check the Instagram page hot4thespot it's hilarious.

It's breezy, comfortable and looks great with a bright lip.

I'm tall and thin, not sure if that helps..but TBH I've seen it on all sizes and loved it.

AlexaAmbidextra · 13/08/2019 17:25

and looks great with a bright lip.

Or a pair of bright lips even. 🙄

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/08/2019 17:38

That Instagram site is largely confirming that its not terribly flattering on anybody and really only just okay on flat chests, or covered with a biker jacket.

Cerealkillers · 13/08/2019 17:49

Did Zara gift it to a fair few Insta fashion bloggers? I really can’t understand how something so hideous could become so popular? It doesn’t even suit the models.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/08/2019 17:51

it's

Alsohuman · 13/08/2019 18:58

It’s popular a) because it’s comfortable and b) because a lot of people like the look.

Sigh81 · 13/08/2019 20:20

Not my style in the slightest. I live and work in central London and see someone wearing it at least once a day.

Am yet to see someone it suits (even the many model-like women you see in the City) but fuck it, "flattering" and "looking good" aren't the be-all and end-all of dressing. If it feels comfy and you like it, power to your elbow!
