Hi all, I've been following the tribe group on Facebook for a while but just wondering if anyone here has tried it. I can't seem to get to the bottom of what they advise, seasons etc. Is there something similar closer to London. And she keeps advising chunky trainers, is this a thing now?

I'm not offended by the comment either.

WowStarsWow · 29/07/2020 21:21

I don't agree with the comment - I think the SBS target audience is mums who've lost themselves a bit and have very little time and money to spend on themselves. I don't think they have time to read newspapers and they prefer to shop at Tu and Dorothy Perkins to Primark.

A fair few of them also seem to have rather shit husbands. (Obviously not the one who bought his wife loads of clothes - I'd hate that but can see how it would be really sweet if you didn't mind)

LyraSilvertongueBelacqua · 29/07/2020 21:34

@Ironfloor269 I was joking, hence the Wink, but should have realised it doesn't come across well on here!

I fall into the category of putting on weight and totally losing myself. I don't know how to dress for my shape or what colours suit me best and I was desperate, hoping the magical analysis would tell me how to look better...how wrong I was!

WowStarsWow · 29/07/2020 21:37

Lyra have a read of this woman's blog:
www.truth-is-beauty.com/

It's absolutely fascinating and you will learn so much about seasonal analysis and also why you should dress for your face and not your body.

She charges $295 for an analysis, but she seems to know her stuff so well that I have no doubt it would be spot on and well worth the money. I've been tempted to go for it a few times but I have already done my colours with house of colour.

ohmygiddiest · 30/07/2020 11:20

Tu and Dorothy Perkins are fast fashion too! Sadly most of the high street is these days. I think Susie relies on people thinking that fast fashion is limited to primark, boohoo etc

Am not sure about the women in the group having shit husbands, but It does occur to me that post analysis these women will be showing off their outfits, glowing with the new found confidence and friends/spouses/family will be horrified and not wanting to burst the bubble, especially if the newly analysed person has confidence issues.

If I suddenly decided to sport a 'slogan t-shirt' mom shorts, jelly shoes, a boy george hat and big plastic earrings my other half would be the first to tell me I look like a toddler, thankfully! Yet I have seen women of all ages dressing like that in the group.

WowStarsWow · 30/07/2020 12:07

ohmygiddiest, the example of a shit husband that springs to mind is a formerly regular poster who hasn't posted since May now (I hope she's doing OK), who went on a rant about how her other half was questioning why she was suddenly dressing up and making more effort, who it was for etc. Really bad. I guess if people like this post a lot (and she did hint at it often) then it seems more common in the group than it is. It really was only a few people, I just felt a bit uncomfortable with how no one can clearly say "your husband might be abusive" like they would on here.

ohmygiddiest · 30/07/2020 12:49

@WowStarsWow terrible! The censorship on that group and on Susie's instagram is not helpful to anyone, except for Susie.

DCIRozHuntley · 30/07/2020 13:44

I was analysed in January and wasn't hugely impressed. My form had been misread (I said I was self conscious about my "tummy, but not my waist" which Had been misinterpreted as "I have no waist" - I have a frigging 26 inch waist, I have a waist!!) I also said I wanted to keep my cleavage covered as my breasts are veiny and scratched due to breastfeeding... I didn't need to be told about "showing of your pretty decolletage" Hmm

I like how the advice has given me the confidence to branch out, and have invested in a couple of jumpsuits. I also follow the Tribe as one member is very similar to me physically (including being a petite 5'1"ish) but has more money and time to try out looks, which I use as inspo. Similar to how others might use Pinterest or emulate a friend, I guess.

Cluelessbeetroot · 30/07/2020 21:57

"showing of your pretty decolletage" popped up in both mine and my friend’s analysis

LyraSilvertongueBelacqua · 30/07/2020 23:56

I was told I have a a fabulous décolletage Hmm

MehMehMeow · 31/07/2020 00:32

I was told I had a pretty décolletage too Hmm

Must be a ‘cut and paste’ standard term Maybe we can all play SBS Bingo?

MehMehMeow · 31/07/2020 00:35

My friend got exactly the same phrases as I did but from a different stylist so it must come in the user manual

EndlessUserName · 31/07/2020 06:55

Well I obviously don't have a pretty décolletage as it wasn't mentioned at all! I had a load of compliments and actually it was spot on, it was definitely all of my best features i'm not modest at all however I didn't burst into tears reading it like lots of people were saying at the time. Which maybe shows, like some pp have said, that lots of the ladies there are really low in confidence, which sbs has helped with

Coniferhedge · 31/07/2020 08:38

I didn’t get anything about my décolletage, but I did get the ‘diddy waist’ comment! That’s my contribution to SBS bingo!

ilovecherries · 31/07/2020 09:22

I have a ‘teeny, tiny waist’. Which I really don’t. I have a thick waist - I don’t have a round tummy really, it’s just that my waist is big - and I’m ok about it, it doesn’t upset me at all, I’m pretty much at peace with how my body looks. But I did ask for ideas of how to dress around it and create an illusion of a waist. I didn’t get that, what I got was a platitude denying the reality of the tape measure

LivingDeadGirlUK · 31/07/2020 14:27

I took the time the other day after reading this thread to do a online colour analysis quiz thing and I have to say it's made a lot of sense and things have kinda clicked in my mind in terms of whats right and wrong in my wardrobe.

LyraSilvertongueBelacqua · 31/07/2020 14:29

Which one did you do please?

I'm an "autumn" but no idea if that's right or not!

LivingDeadGirlUK · 31/07/2020 14:48

I've just tried to find it again on google, think I searched for 'find your clothing colour palette' there are a lot there but I can't find the one I did :/ I came out as a Deep Autumn so read this guide theconceptwardrobe.com/colour-analysis-comprehensive-guides/dark-autumn-a-comprehensive-guide and the explanation about how its different to Dark Winter was really helpful. I've got quite a gothic/alternative taste but don't actually look that good in black and this explains why!

LyraSilvertongueBelacqua · 31/07/2020 15:15

Thank you!

Crimblecrumblelover · 31/07/2020 15:47

I got a "beautiful decolletage" lol

I had heard of sbs on a mumsnet thread. I was stuck in a rut and have no fashion skills whatsoever. I got the gold package. I was really disappointed to begin with due to reasons already mentioned. I mentioned a part of my body that i feel very insecure about but in the analysis i got told it was brilliant and to show it off....erm no...
I think my season is correct and i am now choosing the right colours which do help. My shape (not an hourglass, im surprised so many women are given that, thought it was quite rare) surprised me but again i think my analysis is correct. So I think for completely clueless people like me it did help a bit but it could be better. A friend has really recommended a John Lewis personal shop and I think I will get more from that. I am disappointed to hear that they wont take constructive criticism. I think its brilliant that the business goal is to improve people's confidence etc but with any business you need to take negative feedback.

Possiblywickedandlazy · 31/07/2020 17:52

They tell far too many women that they are hourglasses when what they really mean is that they are slightly softened rectangles or pears but without tiny busts. Hourglass is a pretty rare shape in the U.K.

TrashPandaTime · 31/07/2020 19:18

I’m sure someone said a week or so ago that the next service would be bra fittings... they are correct!

How that will work as an online service I’m not sure.

autumnhare · 31/07/2020 19:18

I've seen the announcement about online bra fitting and am EXTREMELY sceptical about it! I think it'd be really hard to do that without physically seeing the woman. Alternatively if it's a case of providing measurements and them coming back with a size then there's free online services that already offer that (boob or bust being a great example). Am I the only one not sure about this new service?

autumnhare · 31/07/2020 19:18

Great minds 🤪
TrashPandaTime · 31/07/2020 19:30

@autumnhare I completely agree. Especially as often when you do go for a bra fitting your fitter has to go back and forth for different brands, shapes and sizes as we are all slightly different even when the same bra size. How can that be managed in an online session?

You’d almost need two sessions. An initial one to scope out a size and a second one where you order say 6 bras and you try them on and the fitter looks at you in them.

Imo a free trip to bravissimo once it opens or using boob or bust and buying a load of bras to try would be a better/cheaper option.
