Was googling that spotty dress (which weirdly I’ve only spotted in the wild twice) and came across an article for the next big Zara dress... got caught in the hype... it was out of stock...checked again today... and seem to have ordered the last one in stock! Yay me!!
Maybe.
Now what the eff to I wear it with? Help me style it please!

happytobemrsg I've got that blue dress as well, and a couple of my colleagues have got it.

Will that be the autumn 'Dress'???

happytobemrsg · 06/08/2019 14:23

Oh no @MinesaPinot it looks like I’ve inadvertently bought THE dress 🙈 at least I’m slightly ahead of the game this time! It arrived today & it’s lovely. Looks lovely with black Chelsea boots & my leather jacket.

FamilyOfAliens · 06/08/2019 14:27

Still not a patch on the Per Una one on here last week that has somehow found its way into my wardrobe ....

FamilyOfAliens · 06/08/2019 14:29

This one.

See, I tried the white spotty one on, and it did absolutely nothing for me. It would have been cool and comfortable, sure, but it made me look about two stone heavier than I already am (and I am not thin in the first place). I would normally wear a Large in Zara and that was what I tried on, so I don't know if I should have sized down or something, but then I've also been told on here that white washes me out, so there's that too. I am 5'4" and a sort of fat pear shape, and I'm afraid that I simply do not believe that a dress that flatters somebody tall and slim will also work on me.

happytobemrsg · 06/08/2019 15:36

@CheckingOutTheQuantocks the website sizing this said my size was a S but at the time they only had XS in stock so that’s what I bought. It fits me perfectly - even now at 36w pregnant - with my waist sinched in with a belt (I posted photos up thread). So yes you can definitely size down with the spotty dress. Hope that helps. Oh & I’m also a pear, I just wear the belt higher & the dress flows over my hips nicely (usually skirts & dresses accentuate my hips).

happytobemrsg · 06/08/2019 15:38

I considered that dress @FamilyOfAliens but in the camel/red colours. In the end I ordered the blue Zara one

Miseryisabutterfly · 06/08/2019 16:07

@happytobemrsg I’ve the blue one in my basket too 😂 in fact this was the basket I had yesterday, still haven’t gone to checkout... I screenshot it because I thought it looked so nicely coordinated!

I also like this!

I kept going back to try and try and try the white spotty dress on because I love it but it looks awful on me, I’m too short for it, I look like a drop waisted Dalek. So no, it doesn’t suit everyone

MinesaPinot · 06/08/2019 16:19

ooh Miseryisabutterfly love the style of that, but suspect that colour will do nothing for me.

On another Zara note, am greatly looking forward to visiting the branches in Spain in a few weeks in anticipation that they might have something different in there (they usually do)....

Miseryisabutterfly · 06/08/2019 16:21

That is exciting @MinesaPinot! They’re usually a bit cheaper too

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 06/08/2019 16:28

Oh, I also ordered that blue dress - I hadn’t seen this thread!

Today I am wearing the spotty dress, with white Stan Smiths, and a big Tatty Devine necklace. A lovely lady stopped me in John Lewis and told me how nice I looked.

twattymctwatterson · 06/08/2019 16:42

Sorry but I hate this dress. But then oversized, voluminous clothes do nothing for my busty, slightly Apple shaped self. Whoever said this would suit everyone really is talking nonsense

Alsohuman · 06/08/2019 17:57

It seems the spotty dress is fashion Marmite. I was complimented on mine today too @Judystilldreamsofhorses, worn with Converse Dainty white leather trainers and black and white spotted earrings.

happytobemrsg · 06/08/2019 18:13

Get the blue @Miseryisabutterfly!! It’s so lovely on & I really like the longer, elasticated sleeves/cuffs. Looks fab with my Chelsea boots & leather jacket for autumn. That lighter one looks lovely too but pastels drain me (technically the blue is outside of my colour palette but is soooo pretty)

I usually style my white spotty dress with a leopard print belt & black converse suede trainers. Lots of compliments & people seem love the print clash. Maybe it doesn’t suit everyone but those I’ve seen wearing it look lovely

Thinkle · 06/08/2019 18:35

My order (of the massive white dress) has been shipped! Never ever have I been so excited about something that I’m so dubious will suit me.
I actually saw someone wearing it in London earlier, she paired it with chunky boots, a denim jacket and a hipster gentlemen friend in a top hat... 🤔
She looked cool though

Ooo it might arrive today @Thinkle. Did you just order the white dress?

Stumpedasatree · 07/08/2019 16:45

@happytobemrsg, would the blue work on a 5ft3 slim size 6 do you think or will I be drowned?

happytobemrsg · 07/08/2019 17:30

@Stumpedasatree The blue in S is slightly smaller than the white spotty dress in XS (go figure 🤷‍♀️). It’s hard for me to tell because at the moment I’m trying it on 36w pregnant, but I can definitely see it working post-baby with a belt. It’s very flowy so there’s a lot of material. I was fully prepared to send it back because at £50 I have to be absolutely smitten to keep it, but it really is beautiful. I’ve attached a couple of photos of how I plan to style it if that helps.

I got the blue dress per @happy today and will be returning it. The fabric is so light it is too summery to get much wear from now (I’m in Scotland), and I felt really swamped by it. I’m 5ft 6 and a size 10 if that helps anyone - I got M which is the same as I have in the spotty one.

happytobemrsg · 07/08/2019 21:03

I’m the exact same size as you @Judystilldreamsofhorses but I got a S which fits lovely. I found the sizing completely different to the white spotty dress. When it’s a bit chilly I’m planning on wearing it with thin thermal layered tops, leather jacket & Chelsea boots. Then when it’s even colder, thick tights & OTK boots

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 07/08/2019 21:15

Oh, maybe I should have got the S, happy? I do feel it’s the right size on the shoulders though. Anyway, back it goes. I find it hard to wear longer dresses in winter, even with layers - once we get into September I am in mini (ish) length, 100 deniers, and Chelsea boots!

happytobemrsg · 07/08/2019 21:47

@Judystilldreamsofhorses I’ve fallen in love with the current trend of flowy dresses - for the first time in my life I’ve felt comfortable & confident!) in longer dresses & will continue wearing them when they have lost their popularity. I’m sorting out my Autumn/winter capsule wardrobes which will eventually be about 7 dresses, 5 jeans/trousers & 6/7 jumpers. Plus 2 pairs of ankle boots, 1 OTK boots & 2 trainers. Hoping to be able to create enough outfits just from that (sticking to my colour palette & making everything interchangeable).

happytobemrsg · 07/08/2019 21:48

It does look like the S would have been best for you though @Judystilldreamsofhorses
