This summer I decided to be tan. Its changed my life.

Well.... Not changed my life. But certainty changed my self image for the better.

It's true what they say - tanned fat is a lot nicer looking than pasty fat.

This summer I've been using tanning drops in my body lotion 3 or 4 times a week. My legs are a mass of spider veins, but the colour makes them less obvious and I've worn a denim skirt a lot this summer for the first time in years. Yesterday I bought denim shorts!!!

Ive started using it in my face moisturiser and whilst I still need something for the dark circles, I look a hell of a lot better without makeup.

My arms look lovely, all warm and sleek.

3 different people have asked me if I've lost weight. I haven't!

It's startling how different this summer has been just because of this one thing. I feel like one of those other women now. Those women you see wearing shorts and sleeveless tops who always looked so healthy. Maybe this was their secret all along and nobody told me???

Blush Blush

Thank you.

I've been fake tanning since the days of mixing fake tan with body lotion to create 'gradual tan'.

I've lost weight this year and am in full mid life crisis mode so I've ditched the gradual tan and embraced the bisto. Bought Bondi Sands in an outlet shop and fuck me it's terrifying.

Had to buy latex gloves because even immediate scrubbing doesn't get it off my hands. You go to bed with dirty green legs and when you shower in the morning it runs brown. But oh the caramel skin!

The biscuit smell mixed in with hot latex takes me back to sultry nineties nights :)

BarrenFieldofFucks · 04/08/2019 22:29

My first year tanning too. And look way better, even without loosing weight. I have been using skinny tan, and get on well with it. I avoid the sun itself to an extent and always have done, so have always been pale!

managedmis · 05/08/2019 02:15

So you have to be smooth as a nut.

anyone else using the dark? how many drops per limb?!?! cannot WAIT for these to arrive.

TeintDeNeige · 05/08/2019 07:06

I have fake tanned for years using Clinique Self Sun. but I bought the tanning drops based on this thread. Game changer!

The Clinique is deeper and darker, but it stinks to high heaven as it develops and you can’t get dressed for half an hour + it streaks if you aren’t very careful for a couple of hours. So basically, it’s a big old faff.

The tanning drops are brilliant! Been using it every day for 4 days (the medium one). Can get dressed after 10 mins. Doesn’t smell. No streaks. I’m a lovely golden colour.

Previously the gradual tanning moisturisers just don’t work for me. I end up a light, streaky orange. This is far superior.

Thanks OP!

MrsScamander · 05/08/2019 07:24

I'm going to have to try these drops OP, I've been using garnier gradual tanning lotion which is fine on my arms and face but so patchy on my legs 😥

Does the tan transfer to bed sheets? I ruined my lovely quality white sheets with the garnier tan

Wenttoseainasieve · 05/08/2019 15:06

Isle of Paradise drops are great. Foolproof, doesn't transfer to bedsheets, nice colour. It does have a fake tan smell, but it's faint I find because of being mixed in with another moisturiser. I'm really pale and use the light ones. Would recommend!

LifeOfBox · 05/08/2019 15:24

How often do you reapply went, have only used them once so far.

ElspethFlashman · 05/08/2019 15:35

I tend to use every 2/3 days after showering. That's plenty, even with the Light ones.

You definitely have to scrub in the shower though with something abrasive. You can't get away from having to do that no matter how natural the tan. You just can't tan and expect it to ignore your dry skin areas!

I have been using the summer glow gradual tanner and that was a lovely look but just invested in some skinny tan tan and tone oil and I'm quite impressed. I'm usually very very white and have a lovely look to my skin now. Same reasons as you OP tanned fat looks much nicer than white fat lol.

myknickersknackersknockers · 05/08/2019 19:47

Another sheep! I’ve ordered the dark as it was the only one they had. The code has expired now. I’m tanned from holiday so hoping the dark with keep me at this colour. Thanks for the recommendation.

buckeejit · 05/08/2019 21:22

I'm going to raid all my beauty box things in the hope of tanning drops being there & if not, may try this at boots 😁

Ellapaella · 05/08/2019 21:32

Off the back of this thread I've ditched my usual Bondi sands spray oil (best fake tan I've ever used and trust me I've used them all) and bought some isle of paradise drops today. I've used it tonight, I applied mine with childs farm moisturiser. Watching this space... I'll report back tomorrow.

Ellapaella · 06/08/2019 07:11

It's come up nicely, no streaks but definitely has more of an orange tone than Bondi sands.

Jillyhilly · 06/08/2019 08:40

I am also a massive fan of tanning drops. I bought the Autograph ones in M&S just before we went on holiday 3 weeks ago. I desperately needed a fake tanner and was in a rush so grabbed them quickly and hoped for the best.

I am really impressed. I also am pretty pale and I have to say that the drops have given me the best tan I’ve ever managed. And that’s after 30 years of trying! I always felt that whatever product I tried didn’t really live up to the hype - weird smell / streaky / orange / greasy etc. But I now finally have a decent non-streaky healthy looking light golden colour! I am really impressed. It just looks right.

There isn’t really an exact science to the mixing. I just add a couple of drops to my Aveeno moisturiser, quickly mix it in my hands then bung it on all over.

bellyislikejelly · 06/08/2019 17:43

So after using for 3 days i have been asked if ive had my hair done, lost weight, why im glowing, why im shiny & most bizarre if ive been to California Confused

Anyway i love the colour so California or not it stays!

Sarcelle · 06/08/2019 18:07

Can I do a small hijack? Whatever your fake tan of choice is, how do you do your face?

Inspired by this thread I put a few drops of the Clarins drops in my facial moisturiser. It is the one for the body but apparently it's the same as the face one. (I never use it so god only knows how old it is.) I never know what to do about the area about my mouth (underneath nose) etc. I never go near it with fake tan, but should I? I knew I was not going out so did it this morning. I now have a paler ring around my mouth, probably not noticeable to others but it is to me. Some tips?

Benjispruce · 06/08/2019 18:52

Yes Sarcelle I use them. I put 3 drops in my moisturiser and run all over my face, eyelids too. Would be weird to leave white patches. The tan is subtle so I use it every 2 to 3 days.I go down to my collar bone and let my gradual tan or other body tan take over from there.

buckeejit · 06/08/2019 19:40

I've had bondi sands tanning mousse & a tanning mitt in my bathroom cupboard for about a year. After this thread I've been brave enough to have a go & with the tanning mitt, it's turned out ok! 😁. Should I sleep in a duvet cover though? I don't really want my new pure linen white bedding ruined!

yesthatstheone · 07/08/2019 08:45

Bought these drops in light. Not that impressed. Very orange in colour. Zero change on my legs. Bright orange feet. Can't say I'd recommend!

Ellapaella · 07/08/2019 12:20

I agree @yesthatstheone - I find them quite orange.
Bondi Sands has a much better colour imo- the gradual tanning mousse is great for fair skin. I'm a bit annoyed I spent £20 on the drops now.

yesthatstheone · 07/08/2019 13:13

Lol ella yes me too! I'm also returning to bondi sands. I haven't tried the spray version you mentioned though so maybe that's my next buy.
