Find perfect

Okay. As we experience a heatwave, of course I'm thinking about autumn and winter clothes. I don't actually need or want much but am on a mission to upgrade some items and establish a bit of a uniform.

For me this means:
A new leather biker jacket

A perfect wear anywhere black dress (to replace my wonderful Vivienne Westwood one that I'm now too fat for)

Thin black v neck and turtle neck jumpers

A grey or black printed skirt - maybe midi and flouncy or maybe slightly mini and flouncy

The best black T-shirts known to womankind

A black blazer

So I'm going to look forward to trying to track some or all of these down as the autumn stock begins to come in.

You? What's your 'perfect' and where do you hope to find it?

Does nobody want to play?

Agree with the black blazer, I als want excellent black jeggings, must be soft, not bag at the knee or seat and be fairly thick.

Boots, perfect boots as I have slim calves and boots often flap around them

Viviene · 23/07/2019 15:47

I need perfect skinnies in a perfect colour. Must be eco friendly.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/07/2019 16:31

Mint Velvet leggings are good - I bought some after seeing people on here raving about them. Only wear mine in the house, but they hold their shape well and are thick.

Viviene - let me know if you find perfect black skinnies anywhere!

I need perfect non VPL pants with cotton gusset. Not sweaty arse ones

Greeper · 23/07/2019 16:37

Sorry, lowered the tone. Grin
Also, a not overlong jazz it up necklace and some new specs to go with my new not very sexy grey hair

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/07/2019 16:39

I quite like the look of this French Connection jacket.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/07/2019 16:39

Lower away, Greeper! M&S still have the occasional cotton pair, but definitely not as good as they used to be.

I need a perfect item of knitwear. I like a decent jumper but I want good quality and am prepared to pay a bit more for it. Have ordered a Toast jumper from the sale and have got my hopes up.

In regards to the black dress.. I just ordered the black Jayne dress from Hush, have a look as it's a lovely shape, very flattering and can be dressed up or down.

Eve · 23/07/2019 17:00

I bought this jacket from our lcal dept store concession this week - its beautifully tailoerd and will last a few years

jacket

have a look at the website - they have a few black jackets in the sale

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/07/2019 17:06

Thanks.

I like the Jayne dress but I've got a Hush viscose black dress already and the quality is pretty shoddy, unfortunately. It creases so badly, too.

Will have a look at the sale, Eve, thanks. I don't want a full-on formal suit jacket though.

My problem with knitwear is that you seem to be able to get wool (itchy), cashmere (too hot) or acrylic. In an ideal world, I want cotton, or a cotton and silk mix. And v necks are increasingly difficult to track down, it seems.

Crayolaaa · 23/07/2019 17:28

I had found the perfect tee - Boden "voop" necks, so of course they are now discontinued! Joining your quest!

troppibambini · 23/07/2019 18:04

Ooh can I join?
I love autumn winter clothes so much more than summer. I really like that jacket Remus and a good price too.
On my to buy list are
A black pea coat style jacket (I think that's what I mean)
A slouchy black cashmere jumper- that isn't £300
A pair of grensons I know they are bit fashiony but I do love them

I've got lots in my wardrobe that I'm too fat for so I'm trying to slim down so they fit.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/07/2019 18:04

So annoying, Crayolaaa. I keep buying emergency M&S ones, but even their more expensive ones 'go' on the neckline after just a wash or two. VERY annoying.

The good quality places like Arket and Cos tend to all be too high necked.

Viviene · 23/07/2019 18:22

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie Massimo Dutti is good for cotton V-necks - I massively overpaid for the ones that are now in sale... decent quality.

BikeRunSki · 23/07/2019 18:38

perfect T shirt for me anyway. The extra length covers my long torso, the scoop neck and cap sleeves are flattering on me.
I’ve got these in several colours, the eldest of which are 3 years old and still look new.

I also really like Bam knickers

BikeRunSki · 23/07/2019 18:43

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie Woolovers do basic knitwear in cashmere/merino and cashmere/cotton mixes which might suit you. Nothing particularly fashion forward, but many colours and lots of styles, including v necks.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/07/2019 18:50

Thanks, all. I want to be able to buy in real life though, as I'm so fed up of stupid sizing!

ChessIsASport · 23/07/2019 19:01

I have been looking at this black blazer from M&S. Has anyone seen it in real life?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/07/2019 19:03

M&S fabrics are often a let-down.

OP posts:
Anois · 23/07/2019 19:22

BikeRunSki are those bam knickers really seem free under light fabric? I hate VPL, but are sick of crotch sweat in this heat! 😂 Sorry if TMI ...

BikeRunSki · 23/07/2019 19:30

@Anois - I don’t wear clothes that are particularly clingy, or particularly light, but they seem ok. Today I am wearing culottes which are fitted around the waist and hips in a light cotton fabric. No VPL.

Anois · 23/07/2019 19:32

Thanks, I'll order some to try them out!

vaz119 · 24/07/2019 07:49

@anois...

Can I recommend jockey skimmies slip shorts.

Smoothing under maxi/midi skirts but not tight like spanks, breathable and prevent chub rub... They have been fantastic under my wee dresses in the heat (and so light so no sweaty crotch)

Ellapaella · 24/07/2019 18:27

Nice blazer here @RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie https://www.ichi.biz/en-eu/black-blazer-20105204-10001
