Any of you a size 12 and wear dresses to work??

If so what do you wear?

I'm more comfortable in a dress as I have a horrible tummy post c section, losing weight and getting down to 8-10 didn't hide the flap of fat/skin. Just lost my boobs, so now I'm back to my normal size 12.

I'm after some nice dresses to wear to work, that I can just put with some comfy flats and be off. Happy with any colour, like shift, tunic dresses but they still need to be reasonably smart ish.

Where do you look?

Do you shop online? Help!

Dress and boots are my absolute uniform at work - so easy. I don't have one specific shop as my experience is that you have to hunt through a lot, but H&M, Hobbs and Zara have all been a good bet in the past.

FlatterNow · 13/07/2019 17:56

Oh, and I do shop online but am always prepared to return things!

I like linen shift dresses in summer

Hobbs wrap around dresses with a neutral colour vest top underneath. Hides a multitude of sins. Hobbs might still be on sale now with 70 per cent off.

Zone4flaneur · 13/07/2019 21:06

Big fan of Cos for some more unusual cuts but it won't work if you are very short.

This is a great dress for covering up a multitude of sins, I have it in loads of colours and buy it cheaper via ebay! I where a half slip underneath so it doesn’t cling to my legs. Good in the winter with thick’s tights and light enough in the summer.

I’ve also got quite a few bits from Jigsaw and Kin in John Lewis

milienhaus · 13/07/2019 22:04

Finery is good (sales only!) and then Warehouse, Mango and sometimes Whistles are my usual ones.

StarlightLady · 14/07/2019 04:55

Regular dress wearer. I love dresses; they are the most comfy thing in the world I tend to go for John Lewis and House of Fraser but occasionally the odd chapo one from New Look but adding assesories from elsewhere.

WillowB · 14/07/2019 09:42

I'm short and a size 12.
Oasis skater style dresses are always a good fit for me but obviously depends on your height.

Boden and White Stuff (their less "busy" patterns) usually for jersey dresses

MrsTumbletap · 14/07/2019 16:21

@StarlightLady they are so comfy aren't they? And cool in the summer.

I just don't have the figure for trousers, as you then usually have to tuck in a shirt/blouse and I'm too fat for tucked in.

There are some beautiful ones on the Hobbs website I have seen after your recommendations, Need to look at John Lewis and House of Fraser next.

M&S is work clothes are nice and great quality

cinderfrickingrella · 14/07/2019 16:31

I love these dresses from H&M:
m2.hm.com/m/en_gb/productpage.0766441001.html

They have a longer sleeve version too. Really nice material, hang well too.

Jaffacakebeast · 14/07/2019 16:37

Everything5pound.com got some great dresses in at the mo

Usually black in Winter, Navy in summer. Tend to team with jewel coloured fitted knit jackety cardigans.

jackstini · 14/07/2019 17:07

Second vote for everything5pounds.com - have had some lovely dresses from there

Also ted baker, oasis, apricot, new look

I tend to go with skater or wrap to cover CS shelf, any print including black so can wear with opaque tights in winter and bare legs in summer

AskMeHow · 14/07/2019 17:40

E5P for me too - I resent spending 'proper' money on things for work.

MrsTumbletap · 15/07/2019 20:14

@cinderfrickingrella I looked at that dress in H&M at the weekend and thought the belt would make my fag bits look fatter. Do you have it? Do you have a tummy?

I have never heard of everything5pounds! If it's all a fiver isn't it really thin and see through type fabrics? I'm going to look now.

Hobbs have great dresses that you can wear with tights and flats.

DelurkingAJ · 15/07/2019 20:19

Hobbs for smarter wear. I really like Jigsaw for their machine washable dresses now I don’t quite need to be suit-smart.

How tall are you? I’m 5’10” and some dresses are too short for work (at least without opaque tights!).

heronontoast · 15/07/2019 20:20

Uniqlo.

heronontoast · 15/07/2019 20:22

Don't sit on a plastic chair in an everything 5 pound dress - the static might make you explode.

AnnieOH1 · 15/07/2019 20:26

Amazon and Homeyee plus a few others in a similar vein but Homeyee are my go to. They're fantastic for business dresses, church dresses, casual and even evening gowns.
