Body analysis

HermioneSnape42 · 08/07/2019 09:01

Has anyone paid for a body analysis and colour analysis and regretted it?

I have.

I hate what my analysis is and thought I was the total opposite. I cannot find clothes anymore, anything I used to wear right down to the colour is “wrong”

I could ignore, I know. But now I “know” I can’t seem to ignore the analysis at all. Ridiculous I know.

How wrong were you? What did you think you were, vs what are you really?

I haven't paid but I have analyzed my colours for free online, using the various resources available. It turns out there was a reason I love black and white as they both look good on me, but I also discovered more about what colours I can wear that I didn't know.

Is it maybe a case of you needing some time to get used to your complimenting colours? Sometimes we may feel like a fish out of water while wearing something that looks great on us, simply because we were too stuck to other styles and never considered it before. Ask people whose sense of style (and honesty) you admire. You might be surprised.

HermioneSnape42 · 08/07/2019 14:50

I also analysed myself and made a Pinterest board, bought clothes in the right fit and style and colours. Or so I thought.

I thought I was a summer hourglass. I have the same hair colouring as Jennifer Anniston with blue eyes. And skin that tans. I shopped at oasis. In lovely flowery bird type designs.

Apparently I’m actually an inverted triangle and a winter.

Awful. Nothing to wear for an inverted triangle at all. All v neck dresses are not in the right colour or print. Or too short. An inverted triangle apparently needs to keep the top half unfussy so no more lovely prints from oasis anymore also because almost none are v necks.

Just fed up. I can’t see it at all.

What a first world problem!!. I know.
I’m just really upset. Silly I know.

I’ve also had the analysis for over a month and still can’t see it.

poppym12 · 08/07/2019 15:09

Maybe they're wrong?

I'd say a lot of this analysis stuff is hit and miss as it depends on the way the person assessing you sees your colouring, style and shape.

I'd say get a free second opinion and if the first one was way off, ask for a refund.

PinkLipsDontLie · 08/07/2019 15:27

Jeniffer Aniston has been changing highlights and colours throughout the years, so I am not sure which version of her you are :) You (and her) should be judged on your natural hair colour (unless you meant you have her natural colour).

I am a winter too, a cool winter (or true winter, depending on where you read). I also know soft summer is the hardest season to determine, so yes they might be wrong. Although still summer and winter are both cool seasons. So you know this for sure :)

As for inverted triangle, I'd say find a nice deep v-neck dress in the sales, and wear it see how you find the difference on yourself. If it is not a loud print, you can sure wear it allover, you can't deny yourself all prints, makes no sense! If no -wow- difference detected, continue to wear the necklines you used to :)

Floisme · 08/07/2019 15:28

I've not had it done myself as I'd rather trust my own judgement than someone else's. I don't think what suits you is a scientific, irrefutable fact. It's somebody's opinion and it's heavily influenced by whatever silhouette / body shape / colouring happens to be in fashion.

That said, I know people who've had it done (mainly the colour analysis) and who thought it was great. But they all said that by the end of the session they could see for themselves what the consultant was getting at. If you couldn't see it then it doesn't sound to me like it's been done properly.

hopeishere · 08/07/2019 18:05

I had it done and I found the colour but really useful. I actually knew those colours suited me but I'd stopped wearing them after putting on weight.

Just wear what you like.

Could you post a headless body shot to give an idea? What size are you?

Chartreuser · 08/07/2019 18:13

Did you have it done online or in person? And did they suggest any stores to look at? It sounds really hard to have the rug pulled from under you with no actual suggestions.
I too got me wrong, although I thought I was a winter apple and I'm a summer rectangle. Rectangle is easier to shop for though, and I still wear black!

HermioneSnape42 · 08/07/2019 18:32

Attached a photo. Hope it’s clear. I’m a winter inverted triangle apparently. My stats are 42-34-44.

Could be worse. At least you're not an apple (like I am).

BillywigSting · 08/07/2019 19:18

I think you are an inverted triangle rather than an hourglass sorry. I'm not sure about your season though

ThePixieQueen · 08/07/2019 19:33

Who did your analysis? Are they well established or new?

PinkLipsDontLie · 08/07/2019 19:35

I can see where the inverted rectangle came from. It has to do with your shoulders in comparison with hips, and no I wouldn't say hourglass, as waist is more defined for that shape. I have no idea what inverted triangles should wear, as I am a plain triangle :) but I think you should give yourself time to explore your new options.

There is no reason to skip prints as I said, there are so many discreet ones, and you can always wear something "louder on the bottom half. As a pear, I'm not supposed to draw the eye on my hips, but I have many floral short dresses which always get me compliments, with a print all over. If the shape and colour suit you, whatever the design it will look nice!

As for the colouring, what made them say winter? You do look like more of a summer to me! I have ash brown hair, green hazel eyes, pale skin and never tan, only burn. I'm a winter.

hopeishere · 08/07/2019 20:27

Yeah. I'd say inverted triangle too. Bust and shoulders to hip ratio is high.

I've no idea about the colours bit m

TheMarbleFaun · 08/07/2019 20:36

Is your hair more ashy than gold?
What colour are your eyes?

HermioneSnape42 · 08/07/2019 20:52

Very bright blue eyes.
Gold, blond and ash brown, mousy brown hair. Not died. Natural.

not happy to be an inverted triangle.

OP posts:
HermioneSnape42 · 08/07/2019 20:55

I assume from my measurements I’m an hourglass. It’s the fat arms that are making me an inverted triangle?
Does anyone know good arm exercises? :)

OP posts:
Unburnished · 08/07/2019 21:03

What makes you so upset to be an inverted triangle OP? Maybe we can help you with that.

TheMarbleFaun · 08/07/2019 21:07

I also have bright blue eyes & mousy brown hair and I class myself as a Spring!

hopeishere · 08/07/2019 21:17

I would say it's your bust size and shoulder width that make you a triangle. Losing weight (which I don't think you need to do) would probably make your bust smaller but wide shoulders you're stuck with. But it's in comparison to your slim hips.

HermioneSnape42 · 08/07/2019 21:21

themarblefaun Interesting that you are a spring I though my colouring leaned towards summer.

Winter colouring makes me think of dark, dark brown hair, pale skin colour and blue eyes. Not an expert by any means though. Just someone who has researched and read a lot before booking my analysis.

Unburnised- not sure tbh. I was utterly convinced I was an hourglass as I said. You put my measurements into any online body shape calculator it will say hourglass. Maybe shows how unreliable they are.

I know I have big arms. Thanks genetics!

But an inverted triangle??

So limited!

Hourglass is obviously the best shape.

pinklipsdontlie no nice v-necks to try. If they are v-neck they aren’t the right shape etc. Or They aren’t the right colour.
Literally try finding one.
I think it must be the most awkward shape to buy for without trying to add in winter colouring too.

There’s literally nothing that fits both briefs.

OP posts:
Afteryoux · 08/07/2019 21:25

Yes I can see you as an inverted triangle as your shoulders are slightly wider than your hips. I am a winter but it’s hard to tell from the pictures if you are. Can you wear cool colours and white? (I can.)

I like oasis but I know what you mean about the prints and necklines and I can’t always wear them myself as they are not always flattering to a bigger chest.

Why don’t you go with it for a bit and see? It’s not the law though!

TheMarbleFaun · 08/07/2019 21:28

I’m quite freckly but also have a lot of redness in my skin but my hair is more ash blonde than golden
I tend toward light spring colours - pale blue, peach, yellow
And fwiw I’m also an inverted triangle and I love Oasis!

Afteryoux · 08/07/2019 21:30

I am a winter but don’t fit your description. I am pale in the winter but I do tan easily and I have mousy hair.

HermioneSnape42 · 08/07/2019 21:39

themarblefaun I’m not sure why you like oasis as an inverted triangle- there’s literally nothing that fits the brief apart from a few vest tops that are looser fabric and v-neck.

All the dresses are too short to wear without leggings, Dorothy Perkins have nice dresses but not many v-necks. And neither of them have winter colours.

I’ve tried:
oasis
Warehouse
Dorothy Perkins
M&S
Debenhams
John Lewis
House of Fraser
Mint velvet
Phase eight
Hobbs
Jaeger
White company
Shein
Topshop
Wallis
George
Sainsbury’s

Literally no one has the right shape and right colour. No. One.

I’ve tried to buy off eBay and thrown them mostly in the bin as there either too tight despite being my size or too short!

Maybe it’s the combination of both shape and colouring that’s so limited.

OP posts:
QueenMabby · 08/07/2019 21:40

Me! I always thought I was a summer and Pear shaped. Mousy hair, grey eyes, pale skin that burns but tans eventually. Apparently I am a Autumn hourglass! I hate all the autumn colours and love all the summer ones. I have a long skinny body and short stumpy legs which is where I carry my additional weight. How can that be an hourglass? I’m just chalking it up to experience, writing off the cost and carrying on as before!
