I feel that even though we see little of the Cambridge children we are getting a strong impression of their characters. George, sensitive, a bit serious but also playful, loves a helicopter, Charlotte, girly girl, "Look at meeee! OFF with their heads!" Louis, adorable little bruiser. Or have I just made all that up?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 05/07/2019 07:35

Prince Phillip was very handsome well into his 60s.
The Queen went a bit matronly in her forties, and her 50s / 60s / 70s we’re not that striking style wise. However with Angela Kelly, her style is amazing.

As a young woman, I think she was breath takingly and her dresses; especially the Hartnell evening gowns were exquisite.

*breath takingky beautiful

@Myimaginarycathasfleas

I think that’s pretty accurate about the mini Cambridges !

My DM's recollection of HM and Princess Margaret was that they were tiny and PM in particular had striking violet eyes. They were very glamorous in fifties but HM looked middle aged very quickly, as was normal for her generation. I think she looks fabulous now but she was a bit Mrs Merton for a long time IMHO.

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/07/2019 07:43

@Myimaginarycathasfleas I also think that Charlotte is probably ringleader in any mischief the Cambridge kids get up to!

I think we can take that as a given, Queen! 😂

Notmyrealname855 · 05/07/2019 07:46

This is what I’d offer to MM - I’d say bugger a coat, it’s too hot...

The blue flowery one I’d have tailored to fit petite; the Valentino I’d remove the “v” belt and go with something else (and remove the neck thing...); the Ralph Lauren doesn’t need adjustments I don’t think.

Oh bugger... oh well

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/07/2019 07:48

Was it after Angela Kelly that HM started wearing the colour blocked outfits? She definitely dresses better now than she did in the 80s and 90s. Margaret retained a certain glamour into middle and old age - the turbans and caftans on Mustique!

Re the DoE, in addition to being handsome, he seems to have been very dashing too and who doesn't love a man in uniform? He was probably worlds away from the identikit aristos HM usually came across.

That Valentino is VERY Meghan @Notmyrealname855. If she shows up in it they we'll know she's reading our threads!

Mind you, tomorrow's forecast in London is only low 20s so it won't be sweltering.

I miss Caroline Ahearne, so talented, she died far too young. Sad

Your DM was right @Myimaginarycathasfleas, have you ever seen their clothes on display at Kensington Palace? The gowns are clearly made for two very petite women and have the most impossibly tiny waists. Next to them, Diana's dresses look like they belonged to an Amazon!

I have a theory about the Wimbledon appearance. I think whoever planned it knew that they would be seen, so here was an opportunity to say, "Look, Meghan doesn't just hang around with slebs, here she is with some unslebby friends". I think she was deliberately dressed down so that she didn't outshine her pals. The emphasis was very much on her as part of a normal group of women.

I think it's clumsy PR if I'm right, because to then go on to say they aren't naming the godparents when 100/1 we have just seen them papped at Wimbledon is a bit messy.

I could be overthinking.

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/07/2019 08:26

Or maybe she just wanted to watch her friend play tennis!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 05/07/2019 08:34

I think all 3 are friends with Serena as they were co.hosts of the Baby Shower

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 05/07/2019 08:41

Anything eventful between now and Saturday? There's the Christening and a polo match on the 10th then I think that's our lot till September whilst they decamp to Scotland.

Do you think the Cambridges still go to Mustique?

Paradyning · 05/07/2019 08:43

Gorgeous dresses @Notmyrealname855

Imo Angela Kelly designs are not as good as Stewart Parvin's. You can always tell the difference. She is sharper looking in SP

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/07/2019 08:52

I think we'll definitely see Kate and the kids at the polo, or at least Kate with George and Charlotte. We may see Meghan too but probably not Archie.

If Harry and William end up deliberately knocking each other off their horses then we'll know the feud is real!

Could you show us examples of Angela Kelly vs Stuart Parvin please

queenofarles · 05/07/2019 09:05

I think it's clumsy PR if I'm right, because to then go on to say they aren't naming the godparents when 100/1 we have just seen them papped at Wimbledon is a bit messy. I hope it’s not the case, using your friends for your own benefit is just wrong,

Notmyrealname855 · 05/07/2019 09:37

If there’s a PR message I’m tempted to say that.... MM is trying to say she’s not the one that wants to keep everything secretive - those two ladies are as likely as any to be godparents, maybe she’s saying she and they are fine being public.

In royal stuff, if she and H ever did disagree she’d be really stuck. As if all the advisors wouldn’t defer to him! So maybe they’re saying they don’t mind being in public...
