Will red accessories with this dress be too much?

I’ve bought this dress for a wedding next month, I love the print but I’m aware it’s pretty loud so I’m not sure what to wear with it. Was thinking nude shoes and clutch, but I don’t really like that colour on me and I don’t think the classic nude court shoe goes with the vintage style of the dress? ( could be wrong there! ) I have quite short legs too so from that point of view I suppose nude and no straps would be better, but not so easy to dance in.
I’ve found some lovely red t bar type sandals that also look comfy, but I’m worried if I accessorise with red ( or indeed any of the other hundred shades in the dress! ) I might look a bit garish?!
I was going to get a vintage style floral hair clip thing too, as I always feel you need something on your head for a wedding, but would that also be too much?
Any ideas to stop me making a fashion faux pas greatly appreciated ( unless it’s “wear a different dress” Grin ) as I don’t get out much these days and want to look nice! Thanks.

I think the shoe and dress combo is great, love the dress!
Don't think nude would work with those colours.

Red will look fab! Go for red lipstick too! Smile

NiteFlights · 25/06/2019 09:25

I like the shoes and think they’d work with the dress. t-bars can make legs look shorter. Do you have good ankles? (I don’t and can’t wear t-bars). The other thing is that the combo might be a bit ‘vintage’ and if you’re not keen on that another shoe style might work better. I think green or metallic would be other good options.

I’m a chronic under-accessoriser, so feel free to disregard, but I think the dress needs very little extra and you don’t need anything on your head.

Gorgeous dress! Not sure the shoes are right, a bit of an orangey red rather than the pinky red in the dress.

Cydonia · 25/06/2019 09:32

Thank you! I’ll have another look for non nude shoes now. I’m in two minds about the t bars, I do have slim ankles but the dress is below knee length so not much leg left! Trouble is there is a ceilidh at the wedding, I’m not sure I’ll be able to dance in slip on type shoes. Might have to try it on with some I already have and see what works.

Oh, also, should bag and shoes be the same colour? And nails? Don’t want to be too “matchy matchy” but also don’t want to be a mess of colour!

I think those shoes would be fab with the dress, although it's hard to gauge the colours properly online. If you've seen them together and think they match then go for it. They'll be far enough away from the dress that they don't have to be a perfect match. Enjoy the ceilidh!

clpsmum · 25/06/2019 09:45

I think the shoes are perfect t with that dress

Cydonia · 25/06/2019 09:52

Thanks, I will get the dress out and have a closer look.

Sadly Hamster I’m only 5’2” so they won’t be all that far away from the dress....Grin

I think they look gorgeous together, you have lovely taste.

sweetiepie1979 · 25/06/2019 09:59

Oh that's a big no no.... nude shoes please!

MrsBertBibby · 25/06/2019 10:17

Nude shoes are a sure sign you don't know what to wear. Dull dull dull. Don't do nude OP. Specially not with this dress.

If the red is close enough, do it! I'd do nails in a silvery shade, and bag to pick up either the nails or the shoes.

NiteFlights · 25/06/2019 10:33

With slim ankles they’ll look great. Go for it! You definitely don’t want slip-ons for a ceilidh. I’d do toenails to ‘go with’, not match, the shoes (you could match the red on the dress) and a nude/clear manicure.

Cydonia · 25/06/2019 11:54

Brilliant, thanks everyone!

BettyBoozer · 25/06/2019 19:02

Gold shoes would look amazing

Widowodiw · 25/06/2019 19:06

Ah lady v if I’m not mistaken. Yes red will be just fine bring the colours of the dress out even more.

Stravapalava · 25/06/2019 19:09

Absolutely go with the red. I'd do red bag & lips too. Not sure about the nails.

NationMcKinley · 25/06/2019 19:12

That dress is bloody lovely. Where is it from please? I like the shoes too. Have a wonderful time, life’s better with loads of colour!

Mummabear12345567889 · 25/06/2019 19:14

I'm with @Stravapalava

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 25/06/2019 19:16

Go red or maybe mustard...it’s lovely. Not nude please

Apolloanddaphne · 25/06/2019 19:16

I would go with the red shoes with that dress. It will look fab. I don't really do understated!
