I'd say go back but I probably wouldn't because I'm a wuss with these things. I always feel like I should have said something at the time or maybe my hair is at fault or something.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 12/06/2019 15:33

I'd go back too. The colour you got is nothing like what you asked for. If they couldn't do it, the hairdresser ought to have said so before starting.

LoafofSellotape · 12/06/2019 15:49

I'm confused. You asked for pic 1 and got pic 2 which is grey? What are the other pics?

Losttbh · 12/06/2019 16:29

That's bloody blue! Sorry awful looks like those colourful wash out dyes not acceptable. You need to go back and complain in the shop so others can see and they should hopefully change it.

RuggyPeg · 12/06/2019 16:32

I have always gone back but this was a mobile hairdresser (I've used her before for a quick cut) and she's a youngish mum and I wouldn't want to take money back off her and neither do I want her to do it again!

The reason you are not getting what you want is that it can't be done in a short time frame ,say 2 hours , and certainly not at home .Bleached hair needs even lightening to off white ,then toning quicklying. If the bleaching isn't even , then you need differant colours and timings for differant areas . The colours also don't last , the cooler and ashier the colour the more patchy and iffy the fade is ,warmer colours fade better or neutral pale soft ash mochas. I always refuse these colours because clients come in and say yes to everything "-I can't get this colour in one session " yes yes "it will be warm untill the next session , that means gold with sandy undetones " yes yes , "You will need to get it cut regularly ,and salon conditioning treatments" Yes yes. This colour is expensive and hi -Maintanance! It's not like painting a wall ! I'd find a stylist that you like as a person so you have a rapport, that will care and love your hair like you do and try to find a way forward that will work for your hair .

Lia777 · 12/06/2019 17:16

Check out josie vilay on instagram or guy tang to get a kind of feel for the work involved and what sort of tones are out there.

SmellMySmellbow · 12/06/2019 17:21

I feel your pain. I have taken in similar pics and always end up ginger. I have dark ash blonde hair, level 7, which pulls really ginger when lightened unless it's bleached all the way to level 10 or 11 and then toned darker. No-one gets this, even when explicitly told. They lighten to level 8 or 9 then stick a load of toner on to make it grey in the salon, which washes out in a week to ginger. Toner treatments cost £25 in the salon! I do not suit warm tones in my hair! I've been after a cool natural blonde for about 8 years now.

SmellMySmellbow · 12/06/2019 17:23

...and not ince has a stylist said "it's not possible: they always respind with enthusiasm to pics then don't give me anything like that. If they said "not possible but how about this instead" I'd feel a lot happier about parting with £160.

Lia777 · 12/06/2019 17:23

For now try a deep cleansing shampoo or a swimmers shampoo (chlorine removing ) the ends need more warmth but they will grab whatever is put on and possibly go darker . If you could get hold of a pastel pink wash in wash out and just put it on the ends it could counteract some of the blue /slate /Green.

twattymctwatterson · 12/06/2019 17:38

She's used a very ashy blonde whereas you've asked for a cool blonde. If it's warm now it's due to how your hair has lifted. What colour was it before?

pejorativelyspeaking · 12/06/2019 17:41

You wanted cool champagne and you got patchy grey.
I'd complain x

RuggyPeg · 12/06/2019 18:15

See my last comment re complaining.

I've just washed it 4 times and now got a load of conditioner on.

It was bleached light enough before but always fades away to a warm, brassy blonde. I've used every purple shampoo out there (Fanola is best imvho) but I thought I'd get a hairdresser to do a toner instead.

Guy tangs work is fantastic and I follow lots of other great colourists on IG.

I recently went to the best rated and most expensive salon in Cheshire and even they over promised and under delivered.

Honestly, my friend bleaches her own hair and literally uses any old colour off the shelf and her hair is a fabulous white/cool/ashy blonde. It's also short and thick and could withstand a nuclear bomb.

Cher Webb's hair is perfect!

They fucked it up. They didn’t bleach out the colour enough and then they over toned.

This has happened too many times to me. One time my hair was orange and purple and they had to strip my hair to fix the mistake. Which meant my hair was damaged. It is all fried now, despite my having all my ends/layers cut off.

Many hairdressers can’t do blonde. It really shits me.

Lia777 · 12/06/2019 18:35

I've got to admit the training is shocking now. And Sally salon services give bad advice because they are mostly out of college and have no life experience. Ok , how about you just walk in and chat with some hairdressers to have a snoop , find a stylist /junior who has similar texture and length of hair to yours with a colour that's nice , and ask who does their hair and book in with that person .More expensive doesn't necessarily mean better so don't rule out small backstreet places. A great blog is Killer strands which explains the science if you are interested but it's difficult to navigate as no longer updated

RuggyPeg · 12/06/2019 18:56

I didn't ask them to bleach it. It's already bleached to fuck. I just wanted a toner that would give a nice cool blonde and knock out the yellow tones and last a bit longer than purple shampoo.

Yep, agree that the training is shite but why do people not want to learn themselves and get better and nail these great colours? Why are they content to just do mediocre hair and not delight the customer?

I want Lia777 to do your hairSmile

RuggyPeg · 13/06/2019 07:00

After the marathon washing session yesterday, all traces of the grey colour are thankfully all now gone. So I'm back to the warm, yellowy blonde again, which is meh but at least it's not grey/green! I think I might try a DIY wella toner next. I might just have a T18 waiting in the wings too.......
