Another vote for Hush Liliam for cherries!

twosoups1972 · 07/06/2019 13:17

I might try a Kensington shirt dress after seeing your lovely pictures. Someone is selling a very nearly new one on Ebay, might bid on it.

twosoups1972 · 07/06/2019 13:25

Even though it isn't an exeat weekend this weekend, dd1 is coming home from school, partly to see dd1's dance awards day on Sunday and partly to find a long dress for her school prom at the end of June. Worrying a bit about finding something in time especially as some of the weekend will be taken up with other things. Dd3 is going on a school residential in a week's time and she needs stuff to take. I can already predict it's going to be a nightmare - it's an activity week so they need lots of t-shirts, shorts (long shorts apparently), old trainers etc. Dd3 is already fussing that she won't wear anything 'ugly'. As well as her sensory issues with clothing, she's also extremely fussy about how things look. Double whammy Hmm

ilovecherries · 07/06/2019 13:38

laska, you bloody fabulous in your bikini. Really, really lovely. You need to stop putting yourself down and fully embrace your actual gorgeousness.

And looking at the bottoms, I think they might cover my scars. Have a couple of ‘stab’ scars from laparoscopies that are further up, but they don’t really bother me. I think I might order them. Right, taxi pulling up at the office, off I go!

Thanks so much cherries xxx.. I never feel gorgeous, (esp at the moment when i have put on so much weight again..) but then we are always hard on ourselves arent we.. I always wear one anyway because quite frankly I think one piece swimsuits look much worse on me , being long in the body, and tankinis just gape at the tum (the very worse bit to gape) and are horrible wet. Of course in the Med no one seems to wear a one piece anyway !

I only put it up there because of all the much younger people saying they felt they couldnt wear one! ( although there are far more of positive posts saying just go for it also .

We do all need to all be more body positive..

The bikini is this one La Manga briefs and top. I am wearing the M briefs in the photo

neveradullmoment99 · 07/06/2019 15:24

@Laska, I looked for the thread but couldn't find it. Have they taken it down?
I like all the stuff you have posted. @cherries, love the outfit you have on. It really suits you.

Laska2Meryls · 07/06/2019 15:33

Yes, because my bikini body frightened them off ! its here (dont snigger too much)

neveradullmoment99 · 07/06/2019 15:41

@Laska, you look fabulous in it. I agree with cherries, nothing whatsoever to worry about. You are not big in any way! I really don't see why you always say it. You look very trim in it.

Laska2Meryls · 07/06/2019 15:56

Yeah but you cant see where I have pegged all the flob back around the back !! Grin ..

Anyway thanks, I still cant quite believe I posted that ! but like I say , it was because of al the young things , saying they felt far too self-concious to even think of wearing one..

One of the things I have found since Mum went and we have been looking at lot at old photos, is you realise that, despite how you felt at the time (and my Mum really hated her photo being taken ) , we all looked pretty good after all.

neveradullmoment99 · 07/06/2019 16:16

we all looked pretty good after all.

You know, you are so right. My mum always said she was fat. Now looking back on her photos she looked great in her shorts.
I feel depressed everytime I come back from holiday and look at the photos. Pounds are added!!
Years down the line looking back I wish I looked the way I did!! Why is that @Laska?

Laska2Meryls · 07/06/2019 16:24

I suppose because we are always self conscious *never8 .. I dont have any photos of young me on my PC , but I do have some in which now I look back on and thing 'Wow' Glam or what? . Dad has uploaded all the family photos now (its helped him a lot he says remembering mum from before she was ill) , and has promised me a file. When I get them ill post a couple of lovely young me perhaps and weep

Laska2Meryls · 07/06/2019 16:25

My mum had a great figure but always hated what she looked like because she'd focus on the bits she didn't like .. (and I suppose we all do that )...

ilovecherries · 07/06/2019 16:41

Actually, one of the things i’ve learned on my ‘journey’ Hmm 🤣, is that you can be realistic about areas that you feel are less than ideal, without fretting about them or hating on them, or extrapolating them to mean you are generally awful. The upshot means I can look more dispassionately at a ‘problem’ area and decide does it matter/do I want to minimise it/do I actually GAF. I also really work on my self-talk, and try to use the filter of ‘would I say that to a friend?’, and if I wouldn’t, I certainly shouldn’t be saying it to myself. It actually has made a huge difference to be able to say to myself ‘ok, that fits here and here, and it’s a nice length, but I think it could flatter your waist more’, rather than ‘oh god, you fat ugly slob, get that off’. I don’t always get it right, I’m certainly still a work in progress, but I’m def getting better at it.

Also isn't it strange that looking on next I have noticed they are now putting normal womens images on their website to model fashion. They look good but are not typical waifs.

Look at this link for example

www.next.co.uk/g9049s8

www.next.co.uk/g9049s1

and some pictures show cellulite which is normal on a womans body.

neveradullmoment99 · 07/06/2019 16:45

[You can see a bit of cellulite on the first ones upper thigh]

Laska2Meryls · 07/06/2019 16:47

My DH just said something rather lovely. The Bam catalogue came today and I saw this dress and I just said to him 'How would I look in that?'..and he said 'You'd look lovely as you always do , because it would be you wearing it'..

Awww.. He's a keeper, that one..

(but you might like this dress Never, didnt you they the Hush one earlier and sent it back? )

neveradullmoment99 · 07/06/2019 16:51

He is definitely a keeper @Laska :)
@Laska, I did order the shirt dress on Hush a while back but it was awful. It was huge! That's a nice shirt dress but i find belts difficult. I wrestle with where to put them and how tight. Its always been a thing for me.

neveradullmoment99 · 07/06/2019 16:52

I thought they only did socks!

neveradullmoment99 · 07/06/2019 16:54

The red one is beautiful. I would wear that. Its pricey though.

Laska2Meryls · 07/06/2019 17:02

the filter of ‘would I say that to a friend?’ Yes! I need to do that more, I am getting better at it

Cellulite Squellite! .. Thats a tiny bit on that model! But its really good they are doing this , Did you see this article? I looked at the You Swim website and its good , but what I thought was there was no structure to the swimwear, (so the boobs would be much further south than I am comfortable with in public, although I very often go braless here at home) and also I really dont like high cut legs so not for me .

neveradullmoment99 · 07/06/2019 17:07

the filter of ‘would I say that to a friend?’ Yes! I need to do that more, I am getting better at it Yes, me too.
Yeh, she has hardly any but you normally see none. Everyone that models swimwear is flawless. I think it takes a lot of adjustment to look at 'normal' bodies modelling things. It is a great thing and it should be done more.
I will have a little read at that article.

whiskyremorse · 07/06/2019 17:25

I can usually only dip into these conversations at the weekends as work is super crazy. Thought I'd say what a lovely positive group of women are united by an on-off love of Hush. @Laska you rock your bikini 😉

whiskyremorse · 07/06/2019 17:31

On the fashion side of things, I would recommend M&S high waisted leggings with a side stripe which is white piping and grey suede effect. Thicker than normal leggings and very flattering. I've worn them today with black v neck wide top and felt pretty good for a work from home day!
I've ordered 4 dresses from John Lewis sale as I am going to a smart casual wedding in Portugal in August which I assume will be hotter than hell. I usually holiday in UK at a dog friendly cottage so way out of my usual comfort zone.
Sorry I haven't looked up how to do clicky links (colicky links says autocorrect lol)

Ellapaella · 07/06/2019 17:57

@twosoups1972 thank you for your supportive words. It's actually so helpful to know some of you have been through similar. I suppose I feel like maybe I've let him down in some way because he wants to go but DH keeps reassuring me it's precisely because I've been so supportive and we are so Close that he feels safe and confident enough to do it in the first place.

@Laska2Meryls you look amazing in your bikini pic. I love all the photos on that thread, wearing those bikinis with pride and confidence - absolutely spot on. Confidence is everything when it comes to style imo and you have oodles of it.

dontcallmelen · 07/06/2019 18:06

Laska absolutely rocking that bikini.
cherries real shame about the green dress, but reckon you should definitely find something lovely with what you have ordered.
Yy would I say that to a friend, is a really good mantra things we say to ourselves we would never dream of saying to anyone else, I dunno I have definitely got harder on myself as I have got older, maybe we are much more aware & self critical as we see our bodies ageing & instead of embracing our ‘journey’ we home in on our perceived imperfections so silly really, but I don’t think it helps being surrounded by images of women/celebrities that are supposedly all natural & is just down to diet/genes when in reality they have been airbrushed/surgical enhancement/professional help with hair & make up.
