but have you seen the Anda Jacket?

Ninkaninus · 06/06/2019 20:43

Heyyy everyone 🌷🌷🌷

Hope you each had a beautiful day!

I received my whistles order of tee shirt and suede jacket today, both oh which have been returned. The jacket was indeed the perfect mushroomy/khaki colours but I just wasn’t convinced that I’d actually wear it much. It already had some slight marks on one sleeve, for one thing, but also I think I’d shy away from actually wearing it for fear of damage. If it had been leather I’d probably have kept it as colour and style were very good. Tee was nice but I just felt it didn’t quite sit right (more to do with my bust and belly) and for the price I wanted to be sure it would be a staple piece for summer.

I have bought this silk scarf which I think I’ll wear tied around my neck like a choker almost, with the ends trailing down my back.

I’ve been thinking about that jacquard jumper. Is it itchy? And what size did you buy?

My eldest DS is home this evening, 1st year of union under his belt. I was devastated last year when he went & now drives me potty with his lazy arse ways and untidiness when he's home
I never thought I'd say that a year ago.
Your DS will soon realise which way his breads buttered @Ellapaella & it might do him good to see that he actually is very fortunate to have you and your DH SmileThanks
Doesn't make it any easier for you though, but long term, well maybe it will.

Laska2Meryls · 06/06/2019 21:02

cherries , its thick wool, with quite a high neck quite like merino wool but I didn't find it itchy and it doesnt bother me at all. I got the S/M , I reckon that would be perfect for you .. (I have the red)

I may have ordered the Anda jacket and trousers

Ellapaella · 06/06/2019 21:52

Thank you @GinandGingerBeer 😘

NotAnActualSheep · 06/06/2019 21:59

Hooray for all the tunnocks love! Glad its not just me never! You share my dirty pleasure...

Flowers ella - that must be so hard for you. Though I agree with the others, it may well be the making of him, and time for some "male bonding" with his dad. As you say, if he would be going to uni, it would only have been a year later - and living with his dad is much more secure and 'safe", and will be better for him than a student hall I'm sure Shock.

And kudos to all those who have had DCs leaving the nest. I just can't imagine how painful it is (especially to go to the army len and never - the uncertainty and danger of that must be heart-wrenching - I had a lump in my throat just reading your story len)...but it has to happen to all DCs i suppose. I never really felt how it must be for my DPs - I'm an only child and moved to the other end of the country for uni, and have kept moving further away since - though we've always stayed in touch and visited as much as possible, its not the same. (And now they've had enough and have upped sticks and come to live 20 mins away from us!). I'm going to give them an extra big hug when I see them at the weekend...

Ouch at the boobs cherries. Hope your chilling on the sofa has reattached them.

So glad your trainers are a success soups - yy to price per wear. You have to wear them constantly now, but I don't think that'll be a problem as they are lush.

laska - I think the monacos look really good on you, but it's not easy to tell how they feel from a photo! I know what you mean about the non-stretchy fabric - I always have the kneeling issue with non-stretchy trousers, though to me they didn't feel particularly bad for that. But hopefully the 12s will be right for you.

nink - that's a beautiful scarf. Sad the jacket wasn't a keeper though. I think several people here have felt that with pale suede jackets...it's not worth keeping them if you'll be too scared to wear!

But can i just say "Oi" on the toast dissing...Grin . I agree it is horribly expensive, but it is really good quality stuff and beautiful fabrics - and all ethical 'n' stuff. I agree on the models, though - why are they so miserable...?! I do think its one of the places where the models actually make the clothes look worse than on "actual" people (yes, yes, models are people too...) - but the cuts are actually pretty flattering for curves and lumps and wobbles. So I confess I have ordered that smock (and a couple of other bargain dresses) and I WILL MAKE IT LOOK GOOD maybe with a belt or something. Or I will not, I will look like a navy tent and I will deny I ever said that, and you lot won't remind me at all... Love laska's jacket and trousers too, though I'm not good at "loungewear"..if I can't go to the corner shop in it it never really gets worn.

I'm with you on white stuff though, frankly. Haven't got anything there for ages. I do have a couple of beautiful saltwater skirts though, never - such lovely and unusual fabrics.

neveradullmoment99 · 06/06/2019 22:05

Crikey that smock is bloody awful, glad it’s not just me that thinks a lot of it is very dreary, yy white stuff also got very expensive as well.

You reaction brought tears to my eyes [laughter] She doesn't look happy wearing it either.
@Laska, love the kimono top. Gorgeous set but for me they are just PJ's [Although admittedly you could wear the top as a jacket] I just don't spend much on PJ's normally. [Matalan, Asda and the like] But, I love them and they are beautiful.

neveradullmoment99 · 06/06/2019 22:09

aaaw @Not, I think the quality of their fabrics are amazing[well most] and I think the problem is that they are not on real people. The models make the outfits look dowdy. I have had loads of toast stuff over the years - pinafores, dungarees etc and they have all been beautifully made.
Can I just say, so glad to see that someone else was a fan of Saltwater. Their stuff was beautiful. I had a silk skirt that was just beautiful but they were £££. Sad its no longer around. They kind of went a bit dreary with their styles in the end.

neveradullmoment99 · 06/06/2019 22:11

I had a lovely wedgewood saltwater pinafore with gorgeous sunflowers that I wore to death and then eventually got fed up with it and sold it on ebay.

neveradullmoment99 · 06/06/2019 22:11

I meant wedgewood blue.

dontcallmelen · 06/06/2019 22:28

Aww Not I nearly chocked on my tea, I have an image of you furiously styling the toast smock, just to make me take it back😂
Do agree though, the fabric & construction are very good but.... as I am vertically challenged it ain’t going to look good on me no matter what.

dontcallmelen · 06/06/2019 22:30

Love the scarf Nink ikwym about the suede jacket, no point if worrying about damaging it no enjoyment in that.

EachandEveryone · 06/06/2019 22:31

Ive just been to see RocketMan. It was brilliant and quite emotional.

NotAnActualSheep · 06/06/2019 22:49

Haha - I feel I may have just set myself up to fail! I have sized down, following some of the reviews... I'm hoping at least one thing is OK (have also ordered this, this, this and this ). They are all very cheap - so even if I end up sending most of it back I still feel I justify the delivery charge and I have kept some free returns labels from previous orders somewhere . Obviously won't keep it all, as the dresses are all fairly similar and likely to be equally awful I have had a fair amount of luck with toast in the past..they just seem to work with my body shape, and plain stuff can be accessorised with scarves and whatnot.. Willing to admit I've made a huge error of judgement, though!

I don't remember the "original" saltwater never, so never saw the decline in quality/ style. The skirts I have are from a charity shop and they are fab quality - one's white with pink and brown flowers over it (sounds grim - is actually really pretty) that always gets compliments (have had for ages) and the other I got earlier in the year which is sort of a terracotta colour with muted circles of blue, yellow and cream - absolutely lovely colours (though I don't normally wear those kinds of browns/ oranges). I also had a great lightweight jumper that i managed to splurge oil all over ages ago and never recovered Sad .

NotAnActualSheep · 06/06/2019 22:53

I'd like to see that each! But we get to go to the cinema so rarely it'll probably be out on netflix or whatever before we get round to it! Others have said its really good too.

ilovecherries · 06/06/2019 23:26

My DH did a project at Tunnocks years ago. He told the then (old) Mr Tunnock that we were fans and was given a year’s supply of tea cakes, caramel logs, milk and plain wafers etc.

@GinandGingerBeer, not sure if I’m getting you mixed up with another poster on a thread about soap, my friend makes really lovely handmade natural soaps/creams you can see what she does here louloubella.co.uk

Laska2Meryls · 07/06/2019 08:49

lounge wear is Me! But if it's good I shall definitely wear it as a jacket and maybe the trousers as summer trousers on holiday (but of course not together!- ) . Looking forward to seeing you in your Toast haul not ( I fell for this navy poplin skirt ,although sized down as the reviews say it's huge . And 'just to see' 😉the large check sweater.. (I am rubbish at resisting aren't I? this one but stuff will most likely go back.

Laska2Meryls · 07/06/2019 08:56

Cherries What do they consider to be a 'years' supply? One packet a week? They wouldn't last long in our house , though it would be DH who would scoff them. My bad poison is wine!! (And cheese)😄

ilovecherries · 07/06/2019 09:23

Hushistas, I need your help! I had what I thought was the perfect dress for DD’s graduation and for the Chancellor’s reception. I showed a picture of it about 10 threads ago, attached again. I took it out of the plastic today and it’s got a run right down the back. Don’t know how I missed it before, it’s so bad. It’s well past the returns date obviously, but it still has the labels so Stories say it’s fine to return but they have none left. Help me find something else. It needs to be a dress I can wear a trainer with, preferably midi, and at least a cap sleeve, ideally longer. It doesn’t have to be green. Happy to pay up to about £100
