  • that's it really, how do I get it? I love the smell of freshly showered people, not too perfumed, just lovely and clean smelling. Any recommendations please.

I have the Dove scent from Perfume Parlour - it smells just like the soap. I think they do a Nivea one as well.

I’d always been in the habit of quick showers. I’m always clean and felt clean, but I never had that lovely smell. I’m still mostly like that but DM suggested I use a puffy sponge - it means I actually have lather on my body.

ComeBackPeterComeBackPaul · 02/06/2019 21:11

Thanks all, keep them coming!

Clean perfumes (I like cotton t shirt the best)
Perfume parlour dupe of dove soap perfume
Nenuco (body wash and cologne spray)
Acqua di palma (I get the dupe from perfume parlour)

Tommy Girl perfume smells like soap once it has dried down, I think.

FlibbertyGiblets · 02/06/2019 21:17

A clean soapy fragrance is After the rain by Arran Aromatics.

Philosophy Pure Grace is just what you’re looking for! It’s my all time favourite. It’s expensive but lasts for ages and I usually buy from QVC to get the bargains.

SpeckledyHen · 02/06/2019 21:25

Hair washed every day , don’t smoke and keep away from smokers .

Loccitane Shea butter shower cream

hawleybits · 02/06/2019 21:28

Imperial Leather soap. The original, yellow one with the little black label. Nothing smells quite as soapy and clean.

MagicKeysToAsda · 02/06/2019 21:28

I came on to say Philosophy Pure Grace but I see I'm late to the party Smile

DaftHannah · 02/06/2019 21:45

Lush soaps are amazing in the shower. My favourite is sultana. We now have a walk in shower with a rain shower, heaven on earth!

Michaelbaubles · 02/06/2019 21:47

Johnson’s baby powder! I rediscovered talc when DD started swimming lessons and I remembered as a kid how much quicker talk made getting dressed after swimming, and it still smells great.

@NoParticularPattern
I can't believe I'm not the only one who had a craving for Palmolive green bars in pregnancy!!! In my 1st trimester I gagged and heaved whenever there's meat frying in the pan, and I would clutch my green bar and inhale deeply like some addict Grin

I can't use bar soap on my skin though, is there a gel version of the Palmolive green or anything else that smells like it? Love it.

I've used Pure Grace before but found it disappeared on me too quickly.

Everley · 03/06/2019 01:12

Philosophy Pure Grace or Amazing Grace, both smell super clean.

pinkginplease · 03/06/2019 01:25

Philosophy amazing grace is beautifully soapy and clean

justilou1 · 03/06/2019 01:28

I find if you wash with Dove and then use the body lotion, the scent stays for AAAAAAGES!

justilou1 · 03/06/2019 01:37

I forgot to add that I also store my clothing with those finely-milled, fancy scented soaps from Italy (often cheap in the pharmacy) that last for aaaaaages In organza bags (so you don’t get white on your clothes.) I hang them on hangers and fold them among jumpers, pop them in drawers and boots, etc. The scent gently permeates and is much nicer than mothballs! I love the citrussy ones, and almond blossom is also divine. They all smell soapy and clean!

evilharpy · 03/06/2019 10:14

I was after a soapy clean smell and several people recommended J Lo Glow perfume. I bought some but I don't find it soapy/clean at all.

The Perfume Parlour's Dove is lovely, my friend wears it.

A chap at my work always smells soapy and clean like he's just out of the shower. I don't really know him but sometimes cross paths with him and have to stop myself sniffing him Grin it doesn't seem like aftershave, I think it's just his soap, but I'm too awkward to ask him what it is.

ComeBackPeterComeBackPaul · 03/06/2019 11:45

That's it @evilharpy - it's that temptation to just stop someone and really, really inhale. I had to stop myself doing this a couple of times last week in France. @justilou1- bit confused, do you buy the soaps in Italy or are they Italian? I know now what has made my life incomplete til now!

OP posts:
justilou1 · 03/06/2019 13:02

They are Italian soaps. Can buy them in pharmacies and gift shops. French ones are good too. Really finely milled ones with lovey perfume. I just find the Italian ones are “cleaner” and simpler, in general.

justilou1 · 03/06/2019 13:03

*lovely - you know what I mean!

justilou1 · 03/06/2019 13:11

These ones are divine! (But expensive) They will last you a couple of years though!

ComeBackPeterComeBackPaul · 03/06/2019 13:19

...... ohh, will be treating myself to those. Thank you so much. And you just put them in your wardrobe etc and then they ultimately "dissolve"?

OP posts:
justilou1 · 03/06/2019 13:37

No, they don’t dissolve. The fragrance just dissipates. There are other fragrance selections on Amazon, and you can probably get them elsewhere too, btw... the one with osmanthus in it is GORGEOUS!!!
