The second pair seem pretty inoffensive to me, not sure why they're getting so much hate.

Why are the new ones getting such a bad time? I don't wear heels either, this is the first pair I've bought in about 20 years and they're very low. Are they truly horrible and I've just lost the ability to judge?

I’ve got Solilas, they absolutely don’t fly off. They go with everything. They are not great for walking long distances as they’ve got no give in the soles.

Those menorcan style sandals have been everywhere the last couple of years which is why next are doing a copy. Office sell sollilas in loads of colours and are really popular. All the bloggers were wearing them a year or 2 back (if this means anything to you) but I must admit I’ve not seen them so much this year. The dune slides seemed to take over Instagram last year and now they’re copied everywhere including next!

Stick them on with pair of rolled up skinnies, loose white cotton shirt and sunnies and you’re good to go.

Roof I hear ya. I’ve agonised over the Dune slides because I couldn’t decide on the colour. Had it narrowed down to yellow, tan and white. Was resolved to buying two.

TSS oh no! I know what you mean though. The dune slides are gorgeous but only worked on me with trousers, my legs aren’t slender enough for them with skirts

My knees and back hurt just looking at the flat soles on the first pair. I actually don’t mind the second pair

Roof I could contend with that, but they came too far up my foot thus exposing too much toe. DF called me a Sasquatch but alas was right. We are ruthlessly honest when one of us is about to part with cash.

I had a pair of the first ones from next last year and they stretched to buggery. Were completely unwearable after about 2 months....

I got these (the first pair) in gold last year and got so much wear out of them, super comfy and went with so many outfits. I've just started to wear them again this year and they've stretched a bit at the back but not so much that they're falling off. When they do, I'll repurchase but I'll buy the authentic avarcas rather than next as I know now that I love them.
I hate the second pair (wedges) and can't even really say why! Office have a gorgeous pair of wedges that are a low wedge and look much better than those ones. I'll see if I can find a link...
