Can never achieve these hair looks, help!

Bit of a style crush on Jenna Coleman and my hair is similar length. I can never achieve these touselled kind of hair looks (or find them on YouTube as I don't know what they are called). Will post as separate posts so please reference each post if you can help name the style or identify the techniques! This one I like how its not too fussy.

On board for the knicker bun

I use pants as a hair band to hold my fringe back while I wash my face.

Up and down the country this evening dozens of men (or women partners of relevant) will be looking at their wives and girlfriends tonight and saying:

"What the fuck are you doing with your pants?"

There is an unflattering knicker label hanging out. Husband is asking wont a bobble do the trick.

OK, I've given it a go and this is what I've ended up with. I sort of bent it over and over instead of twisting it into a bun, is that right?

As a side note, DH watched very quietly as I took a pair of pants out of my drawer, tipped my head upside down and carefully tied them around my hair. Then I got into bed and about 10 minutes later he said 'so why is it you've got knickers in your hair?'.
'I want beachy waves' I replied.
'oh, ok' he said.
End of conversation

I love his unquestioning approach to marriage.

How did it work out?

I would do a blow out followed by a bit of texturing spray and a bit of a tousle.

Didn't really work, but then I have the world's straightest, flattest hair so I'm probably not a great Guinea pig!

I’m going to give this a go tonight.

Knicker bun is an upgrade from the 5 sock curls I usually do. Yes, it involves 5 socks, but who has five odd socks? One pair of knickers is so much easier to lay hands on.
Tots trying this tonight.

It kind of worked for me but I think I may have let my hair get too dry. Plus the serum I used has made it look a bit lanky. Will try again tomorrow.
