Black dress to summer wedding?

I've seen a gorgeous cream and black hat for a summer wedding.

Would it be frowned upon to wear a black dress such as this one from Reiss? I'm not sure what the etiquette is!

I think the idea that you can’t wear black is very outdated.

Black is always stylish and this look is very co in my opinion.

I usually wear black to weddings and I team it with bright accessories. At a wedding last August there were several of us wearing black including the bride’s mother who looked very stylish.

Men wear black suits after all so why shouldn’t we wear black!

I love that black dress. The hat would really lift it, but you won't wear the hat all day, will you? So for most of the time you'll be in a black dress.

I think it'd be fine and that everyone else would envy you! 😆 Do it. Start a new trend.

Those saying it’s ‘outdated’ and ‘ridiculous’ not to wear the dress because if etiquette are missing the point imho. The key point is in the title: ‘...to a summer wedding?’
I don’t think black (as chic and classic as it is) is a great colour for a summer anything. It’s too dark and ‘evening’, and if the weather is hot & sunny you’ll likely feel unbearably hot and wish you were wearing a lighter-hued more summery outfit.
