I don’t trust my own judgement with clothes at the moment. Like the feel of the dress and the lovely deep pockets but not sure the style works for me

This one is something my daughters would call ‘Christian-menopausal-wear’!

Ha ha love this!

I think it looks lovely and suits you - well, what I can see of your hair.

Rooftree · 30/05/2019 22:33

I absolutely love an Amish summer dress!

RogueV · 30/05/2019 22:34

Love it

LaCerbiatta · 30/05/2019 22:35

Love it!

Jon65 · 30/05/2019 22:39

It needs to be 3 inches shorter or 2 inches longer. The length it is, its just mumsy. The dress should look better than it does as you have a lovely figure and its a lot of money amd not flattering enough for that amount.

MoltonSilver · 30/05/2019 23:40

If you don't immediately love it, it's a no.

Ohyesiam · 30/05/2019 23:46

You look great in it.

chasingseagulls · 31/05/2019 07:02

I love it but then I love Toast, but you do need to be in to their aesthetic to "get" them though. They don't do trend led styles and they definitely don't do figure hugging. They pretty much release the same styles in different patterns every year.

I do tend to size down a lot though, I'm a UK9-10 and nearly always go for an 8 at Toast.

StarJumpsandaHalf · 31/05/2019 07:08

No. It swamps you and I’m not sure a size down would be much more flattering as the length’s too long and there’s too much fabric in the skirt area.

ShirleyPhallus · 31/05/2019 07:14

See this is why I don’t trust MN and the hundreds of calls for Cos and Toast - cos they’re all such unflattering, shapeless dresses in hideous prints

OP you have such a fantastic figure why would you even try on this monstrosity.

Amish summer holiday is exactly what it is!

chasingseagulls · 31/05/2019 07:22

ShirleyPhallus I agree about MN S&B recommendations, but from the opposite point of view. I love Cos and Toast! There's too wide a demographic on this board to ever get a consistent point of view. "Stylish" is the most overused word on this board and everyones opinion of what that it constitutes renders it utterly pointless, I wish people wouldn't use it. (Recommendations for "stylish but waterproof" or "stylish but comfortable" particularly make me sigh) :)

Namastbae · 31/05/2019 07:39

I don't like the neckline x

Rooftree · 31/05/2019 07:41

Why is it always recommended that someone with a fantastic figure has to show it off? Not everyone wants to do this. Also I don’t like the underlying suggestion that therefore anything baggy or loose is for those who don’t have fantastic figures. People should show off what they want to or not, regardless.

milkshak3 · 31/05/2019 07:43

too baggy otherwise it would suit you. can you size down?

Greenglassteacup · 31/05/2019 07:46

There’s way too much fabric around the abdomen, it’s drowning you

Miniloso · 31/05/2019 07:48

It’s ok, but neckline a bit high/odd and too much material. Go for a smaller size perhaps? I’d say you could find something that suits your figure better though.

justilou1 · 31/05/2019 07:50

Love it, but it’s too big. Try one or even two sizes smaller. The top doesn’t fit you at all!

DameSquashalot · 31/05/2019 07:53

I think it looks too big. It doesn't hang nicely.

chasingseagulls · 31/05/2019 07:53

Rooftree I agree. I'm slim but have no desire to wear really figure hugging clothes. I probably do look bigger than I am a lot of the time, but I couldn't care less. It's not just about comfort either, I love clothes and fashion and style, but I've found a look - and shops that cater for it - that combine the two. For me.

fancynancyclancy · 31/05/2019 07:57

Amish summer holiday is so much more stylish than bodycon though.

I don’t believe that everything you wear should be about how flattering it is or how much it shows off. That’s a very old fashioned view imo.
Clothes should be worn because they are comfortable, fun, cool etc.

scifibi · 31/05/2019 08:13

It's not just about comfort either, I love clothes and fashion and style, but I've found a look - and shops that cater for it - that combine the two. For me. So agree with this too - I don't want to look classy, expensive or wear figure hugging clothes, it's too dull and contained and I no longer care to look as thin as possible. I love that dress, I also love Cos, Toast and Arket - you get a better sense of it in the mirror reflection.

PrincessTiggerlily · 31/05/2019 08:24

Is that the latest in fascinators - think it could be a bit more discreet.Grin

I like the dress, it goes with your hair, it's a bit dull but if it suits you go with it.
