Too scared to go bravissimo..

I’m currently wearing a 38d padded bra from Asda. It’s doing absolutely nothing for me. My nipples fall out the top, it rises up, and my back fat is gross. But I don’t want to pay for another crappy bra. I really need to get measured. I tried a 38dd on and it still felt abit small, but much bettter. The band was abit big too. Anyway, I really want to go bravissimo but I’m terrified they will tell me I’m too small chested to shop there. I have tubular breasts so not much tissue and they are saggy 😩😩

I haven’t been measured since I was 17 in M&S when they shouted I was a 48 (no where near I was a size 20!!) C and they had nothing that would fit 😩😩

They are great please don't stress. Once you are comfy in one of their bras you will wonder why you didnt go sooner. I wouldn't go anywhere else now

ExplodingCarrots · 20/05/2019 11:18

I was in the same position where I wasn't sure if I'd fit into their bras. But the lady who done my fitting was so nice. They're brilliant at what they do. I thought no way could I be over a D cup but I'm currently wearing a 36DD and it's seriously changed my life.

PineappleTart · 20/05/2019 11:18

Do it, you'll come out feeling much better :)

MorrisZapp · 20/05/2019 11:20

Mate life's too short for scraggy asda bras. Bravissimo would go out of business pretty quickly if they shouted at their customers to get out.

If you absolutely can't face it, go to a department store and try on smaller back sizes and bigger cup sizes until you get it right.

BuffaloCauliflower · 20/05/2019 11:21

Give this a calculator a go so you have a better idea of where you are before you go in.

booborbust.com/

SinkGirl · 20/05/2019 11:21

I wouldn’t have gone there either but boob or bust reckon I need a 34E rather than the 38B I am currently in 😳

BuffaloCauliflower · 20/05/2019 11:23

I’d bet you a lot of money you’re miles off where you actually should be in band and cup

Imalldonethanks · 20/05/2019 11:23

I go to Victoria Secrets for my bras. And so does my mum (in her 70s).
They are really friendly and must have been on some kind of course about how to be non -threatening.
I have the nicest time in there and the bras are comfy and they're £25 so similar to most other places.

I thoroughly recommend it (although I do buy my knickers in packs of 5 from m and s still!).

hippermiddleton · 20/05/2019 11:24

Look, even if they measure you and you're too small for their range, you'll still know what size you actually ARE and you can get something from another shop. As Morris says, they're hardly likely to shoo you out the door for daring to try to buy their merchandise...

BuffaloCauliflower · 20/05/2019 11:36

@Imalldonethanks I wouldn’t trust Victoria’s Secret either. I’ve listened in on them fittings bras before telling a tiny size 8 they’re a 34...

sugarbum · 20/05/2019 11:41

honestly just go. I'm a 38D (actually probably nearer 40c now) and I'm so flabby with floppy breasts and no upper fullness.
I've been to Bravissimo a few times to be measured and they've always been great. No pressure to buy. Discrete as you want them to be - they will always check if you would like them to leave whilst you are trying on the bras, although obviously they need to see you in your bra. They will suggest the right shape bras for you.
They do have a tendency to fit you to the tightest band possible (to the point of discomfort) but honestly it costs nothing to go and its worth it for their opinion.

Member212711 · 20/05/2019 12:04

Go! Please! Best thing I ever did. Walked out there crying with relief. Changed my life. Sounds a ridiculous thing to say, but the right sized bra can change your shape, how you walk and hold yourself, how you see yourself and so much more! They have lovely changing rooms (large and with proper doors), helpful and discreet staff (in all sizes, shapes, and ages themselves).

PJMasksAreOnTheirWay · 20/05/2019 14:16

Just go, honestly they are lovely. I can’t believe the difference a well fitted bra made after mine changed after having children. They don’t measure they just look at you. They’re also very discreet and will go out the changing room if you want them too and they have robes for you to wear. Plus their shop is lovely! They also do a reward system where when you buy your tenth bra you get one free, and if you don’t have your size they’ll deliver one to your house.

Go! Please don’t feel nervous.

NoBaggyPants · 20/05/2019 14:24

@SinkGirl A 38B is equivalent to a 34D in cup size, so not much difference to a 34E at all.

One thing with the booborbust measurement, it can be out if you're lacking in fullness. It's still a good starting point though, and better than M&S.

Justmuddlingalong · 20/05/2019 14:24

I went in to be measured for the 1st time. I was kind of wearing a Sainsbury's 38DD. The staff were lovely, very professional and not in any way sneery. I left with a 30F. 😮 Honestly you'll feel so much better for it.

dementedpixie · 20/05/2019 14:27

38 sounds too big for you so you probably need a smaller back and bigger cup size

SinkGirl · 20/05/2019 15:03

I know the cups are a similar size but it’s the back that worries me. I ordered a few bras in 34E and 36D from asos recently as I was ordering a few other things and they just didn’t fit at all. Ended up buying a 36D from M&S in a rush and it fits quite well but I do have some spillage so think I need a 36F. Just ordered a few sizes from bravissimo so will see how that works out. I’ve never had a wired bra sit flat against my chest in the middle but I thought I was just weirdly shaped. Definitely 38 is too big, but I’m not sure a 34 is right.

dementedpixie · 20/05/2019 15:08

If the wire doesn't sit against the breastbone at the front then the cup is too small.

SinkGirl · 20/05/2019 15:16

I always struggled increasing cup sizes because I can get some empty cup at the top but apparently that’s more about shape of the cup. I think I need a smaller band and a bigger cup and the right shape... it’s tricky! I’ve ordered some stretch lace ones to try as apparently they’re good if cups don’t always fit well.

dementedpixie · 20/05/2019 15:17

Maybe balcony bras would be a better shape

SinkGirl · 20/05/2019 15:18

Yes, I’ve just thought of that now after ordering! Will see how I get on

Mystraightenersarebroken · 20/05/2019 15:19

I felt a fraud going in Bravissimo as I'd always worn a 34B (and M&S measured me as a 34A) but I braved it after reading a bra intervention thread on here and working out I was actually a 30DD.
I didn't buy anything as I found their bras over engineered for smaller boobs but they were lovely and unintimidating.

Mystraightenersarebroken · 20/05/2019 15:22

@Sinkgirl I lack fullness on the top and balconette bras are fab on me!

SinkGirl · 20/05/2019 15:26

There’s an interesting guide on the bravissimo site - a lot of the things I thought were signs of bras being too big (like wires not sitting flat) are actually them being too small! I’ve been completely clueless! Ive ordered a 34E, 34F, 36E, 36F so will see what fits best since I think the 36D I have is too small (but obviously it varies by brand too)

Gentlemanwiththistledownhair · 20/05/2019 15:27

Echo the others saying just go! But remember they are not the oracle: I have been fitted incorrectly there before and had to insist that the bras she was giving me didn't actually fit. Her colleague agreed with me. So have a read first about how to tell if a bra fits.

Also make sure you go to one of their larger shops for most choice. I went into one in Solihull this weekend and it's moved since I was last there and is now mostly clothes and bikinis. I couldn't find a single bra I liked to try on (was specifically looking for a nude one). John Lewis sorted me out in the end, 25 bras later and an hour of trying! Shock (i didn't get measured at JL)
