Is there any other way I could disguise my stomach in this dress...

Apart from wearing really uncomfortable support pants all day (I’ve still got to go out and try a few different makes/sizes)!

I love the dress and possibly teaming it with a brown leather look jacket/denim jacket. The brown jacket hides my stomach, the denim doesn’t. Also, if it’s really warm these jackets aren’t suitable.

Is there anything long, lightweight and floaty I could wear over?

I was even tempted to buy a bum bag to rest upon my protruding shelf Grin

Dress is nothing spectacular but I love the length, looks great on the boobs but my belly = urgh!

Tips greatly welcome.

Oh - links do work ...

Cocolapew · 18/05/2019 20:19

It looks lovely, you don't need to change anything.

Skyejuly · 18/05/2019 20:22

You dont have a tummy at all. I actually look pregnant!

julensaor · 18/05/2019 20:24

ah god love you you are being way too hard on yourself. It looks lovely on you - going up a size won't help, it fits perfect now and going up will just get baggy on your chest and arms. The print makes it hard to see your (tiny tummy) shape. Go as you are, shape wear in my experience just pushes somewhere else out (eg. will suck in a tummy but create a roll of backfat) and you will feel more comfortable.

applesarerroundandshiny · 18/05/2019 20:36

Honestly I think you look absolutely great!

I've been on the lookout out for a black fit n flare midi dress and I've just noticed that your dress comes in black with very small white spots - so I'm going to order for myself and I won't look half as good as you!

I couldn't wear anything tight like Spanx but I do tend to wear 'big knickers ' to help a little with clingy fabrics. You could try a full length slip as well - assuming they still make them!

adamantinious · 18/05/2019 20:38

sometimes wearing a small heel just alters your posture enough so that your tummy seems flatter. maybe try it with shoes on, first, but, I'd also suggest a bigger size.

CassandraCross · 18/05/2019 20:48

Honestly, OP, it looks lovely on you. It flatters your figure.

Just buy underwear that ensures a smooth line, a previous pp was right about a slip it stops excess cling.

SweetMarmalade · 19/05/2019 00:11

I’ll go shopping for a slip, need to invest in something decent.

Apples, I bought this dress in store, they didn’t have the black one but I do like the look of that, might be a big more forgiving! Think ordering online is the future, my dress is cheaper than in the store.

Thanks again you lovely lot! I’ve never really posted in this forum. It’s my new favourite place Grin

I did see the shrugs in store but I’m not sure they’re what I’m looking for to hide the lumps and bumps. Then again, might try them on next week.

I think you look bloody brilliant in it, you're being very harsh on yourself. Next size up may gape around the boob area?

NearlySchoolTimeAgain · 19/05/2019 06:45

I find supportive pants amazing if I’m walking lots - they avoid thigh chafe!!

TheBossOfMe · 19/05/2019 10:42

The slips are more comfy than the control pants. Spanxs pants suck IMO. Slip coupled with big granny pants (just ordinary ones that cover your tummy so you don't get a line through the bit you're most self-conscious about), job done.

Don't do the belt - I reckon it will just make your tummy look more pronounced.

RidgedPerfection · 19/05/2019 10:47

I think you look great, but if you still want something I can really recommend this from Sainsbury's - really comfortable and doesn't ride up. tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/p/Secret-Shaping-Black-V-Neck-Slip-Dress-Light-Control/133766149-Black?searchTerm=:newArrivals&searchProduct=

Knackerelli · 19/05/2019 10:57

Please don’t go a size up! As pp have said then it’ll be baggy elsewhere. I think it’s a great fit on you and I can’t see any belly. I have plenty to lend you if you want some 😀

BusterGonad · 19/05/2019 11:41

After seeing the photo I think supportive underwear will do the trick, something with long legs and god up to your bra just to smooth it slightly.

SweetMarmalade · 19/05/2019 12:25

Again, thanks everyone. My stomach does require some help in this dress, you can see it moving when I walk and I would feel self conscious if I didn’t have better support or something covering it.

Ridged, I love the look of the slip dress. My only worry is that I’ll be too hot with two layers. I will definitely go on a search for this and give it a try.

I’m also going to try on the biggest, baddest pair of granny pants initially, see if they help to improve the stomach area. I realise that all my current undies are probably a size too small - in denial Blush!

From this thread I’ve concluded that I definitely need an underwear upgrade before buying any other slightly fitted dresses Grin

Your tummy is fine Op, I'm just thinking big pants to help you feel more confident. I too like big pants as i don't like my tummy either.
