HI I’ve an outdoor Summer party thing coming up in a few weeks. I bought this Maje dress yesterday which is hugely out of my comfort zone but I do really like it. But what shoes?? I was thinking maybe red velvet heels? Im open to ideas. They cant be crazy high, I'm tall anyway, and id like them to be comfortable to stand around chatting in (and possibly drunk dancing in later) Grin
Oh wise ones, guide me, budget moderate..

What about red suede, a bit lighter than velvet. Not sure what moderate budget is LK Bennett has some nice options. Do you prefer open toe, ankle strap etc

StellaRockafella · 11/05/2019 09:15

Red, velvet in particular will look too heavy.

Gold, silver, white or a very pale beige/natural colour.

Aimily · 11/05/2019 09:15

A think a brown strappy sandle would like nice, something like these from pretty little thing?

BogglesGoggles · 11/05/2019 09:16

Yellow based red, deep orange or nude. Deep orange being the most stylish choice and nude the most elegant,

BogglesGoggles · 11/05/2019 09:17

Don’t get a blue basedred because that’s too wintry

Hoppinggreen · 11/05/2019 09:18

Wedges might be better if you will be on grass, and may be more comfy.
Velvet is a bit wintery and although I love red I think something more neutral would be better and (sorry to be boring) you would get more use out of. I would probably get some gold wedges from Aspiga or similar.
Lovely dress

wildhairdontcare · 11/05/2019 09:19

I would go for navy or red open toe heeled sandals. Silk fred had some nice ones recently.

Handbaghag · 11/05/2019 09:25

Bear in mind that from a distance the dress (which is lovely by the way)looks green. Red full shoes may look a bit of a clash. Maybe a mid blue sandal?

fancynancyclancy · 11/05/2019 09:30

The dress is fun, please don’t kill it with a nude court! 😉

A wedge is a good shout, Uterque has some nice options. I’d opt for a Zara strappy ankle wrap sandal.

Outdoor summer party? I'd wear red or white trainers. If you want something smarter then mules. Crazy to wear heels if you are spending any time on grass.

Don't wear velvet in spring/ early summer.

fancynancyclancy · 11/05/2019 09:37

Why not flat sandals like the model?

CountFosco · 11/05/2019 09:38

Revise that slightly. These heels would be cool and reasonably practical on grass if you are a heel wearer.

Hoppinggreen · 11/05/2019 09:40

Those are lovely count

Drogosnextwife · 11/05/2019 09:43

I think tan strappy heels like the ones, Aimily posted would be good. That's exactly what I was thinking before I saw the pic.

CoconutAmericano · 11/05/2019 09:45

Thank you so much for the replies. Ok so its a definite no to velvet. Im not going to wear trainers or flats. I’ve a very unglamorous job so I cherish glamming it up from time to time. I do like the brown strappy sandals but i think the heel is too spindley for a garden party, i wouldnt last long, but thank you. So maybe strappy red suede with a thicker heel? I think the Zara sadals are lovely but I think they might be too chunky for this dress. God, this is hard! I appreciate all input!

Perhaps this kind of style www.johnlewis.com/mint-velvet-teagan-suede-crossover-sandals/yellow/p4125210 would be good.

TSSDNCOP · 11/05/2019 10:03

These would be smashing.

CoconutAmericano · 11/05/2019 10:04

OK I am loving the Dune red sandals, perfect colour and heel. Also loving the yellow Mint Velvet sandals. The topshop ones are nice but the colour isn’t quite right, and the heel would have me crying after an hour unfortunately.

Im in town later, I’ll try the Dune sandals on! I feel excited!

Good luck! lovely dress by the way.

Bloomburger · 11/05/2019 10:08

Is it a daytime party? I'd wear posh trainers and look cool and be comfort

CountFosco · 11/05/2019 10:09
