Previous thread

Any guesses on what Meghan will wear to introduce baby Sussex? I'm guessing Givenchy as it's her go-to designer for big events.

Then again she could surprise us all and come out in a JoJo Maman Bébé breastfeeding tunic!

Earl of Dumbarton is one of Harry's titles so as eldest son he is able to use it. Doesn't have to though.

frugalkitty · 08/05/2019 17:03

Hmm, I'd have preferred Jasper! I quite like Archie, modern enough, but I'm not keen on Harrison at all. I think Archie is a good balance between traditional and modern. It's growing on me.

As for George calling himself Archie, my DS1 called himself Dave for about a year when he was 2/3.....people would say to him 'and what's your name?' and he'd said in a weird deep voice 'Dave!' Grin

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 08/05/2019 17:04

Harrison seems quite an Icelandic sort of choice. For balance, it'll have to be Meghansdottir as a middle name for a girl, should they have one in the future.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 08/05/2019 17:05

I thought George is actually called Archie. George is his “official name”.

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/05/2019 17:05

Rebecca English and Omid Scobie have both tweeted to say the baby will have no title, he'll just be Master Archie M-W. And some people were so certain Meghan would demand a title for her child!

Will he have a title? I wonder if they will decide to forgo the title.

StCharlotte · 08/05/2019 17:06

Archie Harrison...

That name does not befit a title.

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/05/2019 17:06

But Harrison isn't actually his surname @StCharlotte!

Also, I love the photo of them with the Queen and I also love that Doria is there with them.

AdaColeman · 08/05/2019 17:08

I don’t think our dear Queen is the cuddling babies type.

She left the tiny Charles behind in England while she went off to Malta for two years to enjoy the fun of being a navy wife.

StCharlotte · 08/05/2019 17:08

I know. Hence the three dots.

RhubarbIsEvil · 08/05/2019 17:10

The Queen says “how lovely”
The Queen thinks “I prefer the ones with four legs”

The trending box on the home page right now only clicked on one thread so far and it's already full of holes!

I wonder where the Harrison came from? Unless they really have gone Icelandic! I always think of middle names as being meaningful so I'm quite surprised at that.

I have 14 nieces and nephews who have 14 children between them. Not one of the little bastards has used my perfectly nice name even so much as a middle name!

SlipperOrchid · 08/05/2019 17:17

On reflection I think they hit the right balance with the name Archie. Its old yet current. Thankfully it wasn't Arthur or something similar. M&H are not too interested in titles. I'm sure if there had been forums on the internet Mia, Zara, Harry would all have been 'what were they thinking'.

Maybe from now on, we won't have baby name threads looking only for solid traditional names as people desperately choose as they think they reflect their middle class status. M&H and Zara have all followed their hearts rather than any self enforce rule book. I am glad!

HoumiLoomi · 08/05/2019 17:21

People have been so nasty, bitter and snobby over the name. It’s shocking.

BoglingToAswad · 08/05/2019 17:21

I think it's a lovely name. It's nice that they aren't bothered about the regal name snobbery, and since they are going to be relentlessly criticised anyway they might as well have something they like Smile.

SherlockSays · 08/05/2019 17:21

Now I know he won't run in the same circles but I could go to the primary school down the road and find 10-20 Archie's and Harrison's so it is a little disappointing to me but then again, I'm from a family of unusual names (including mine). It does fit with the names Harry and Meghan though.

Laiste · 08/05/2019 17:21

Brave to wear a white dress. Yes she looked like she wanted to hold the baby. Don't blame her. Nice actually to see her looking like someone who has recently given birth rather than just releasing a staged set of photos with her looking perfect.

I thought at one point at the beginning she was going to bump cradle then stopped! It must be weird for her suddenly not to be able to do that as an easy go to as something to do with her hands when in front of the cameras. They would have been better just filmed seated together comfortably somewhere. She could have settled and relaxed before the cameras rolled.

queenofarles · 08/05/2019 17:27

it’s very Americanized isn’t it?
But very old fashion American.
Like it belonged to someone who worked for Roosevelt administration.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 08/05/2019 17:27

Awful names. Sounds like a Beckham.

Haworthia · 08/05/2019 17:30

I’ve just realised that Harrison ties in with “Son of Harry” Grin

wigglybeezer · 08/05/2019 17:31

Harrison means son of Harry, so not a bad choice really.
I think the names are quite Commonwealth friendly too.

Horsemad · 08/05/2019 17:32

I like his name. 🙂

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/05/2019 17:36

Harrison sounds quite American @queenofarles but Archibald is a name that was popular amongst Scottish nobility for centuries so I think they can say Archie is British. It was also Cary Grant's real name!
