Any guesses on what Meghan will wear to introduce baby Sussex? I'm guessing Givenchy as it's her go-to designer for big events.

Then again she could surprise us all and come out in a JoJo Maman Bébé breastfeeding tunic!

Awful name. Just awful. Sorry, but there's nothing regal about it.

Not even Archibald with Archie for short.

SunshineCake · 08/05/2019 16:49

I love the photo of the Queen. She's such a gift to us all.

BertrandRussell · 08/05/2019 16:49

Bloody hell- and after all i’ve done for the woman on here she goes and calls him that!

FATEdestiny · 08/05/2019 16:49

A Nottingham Lace baby shawl has been used by all royal babies. William was wrapped in one as a new born on the steps with Diana, as was Charles on his first public appearance.

William, and now Harry, have continued the tradition for their children. Nottingham Lace was also used in Catherine and Diana's wedding dresses

I'm from Nottingham. Our royal standard lace is one of our claims to fame Blush

I'm pleased to see another Nottingham Lace shawl.

Just Archie? Not Archie, short for Archibald .... or even Archimedes? Smile

AFifthOfKoolAid · 08/05/2019 16:49

Harrison is lovely. A nod to Harry without calling him Harry or Henry.

Archie...

AFifthOfKoolAid · 08/05/2019 16:50

Archimedes Grin

SlipperOrchid · 08/05/2019 16:50

Archie Harrison? No long string of middle names? No formal first name? A surname middle name popular in Australia. . MN will be up in arms 😀

Its pretty unexpected. I honestly thought Philip would feature.

TokyoSushi · 08/05/2019 16:52

Same as our cat!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 08/05/2019 16:52

I think I know Archie Harrison,

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/05/2019 16:52

Nothing regal about the name but haven't people been saying for ages that H&M aren't that important and their baby will be even less important in the grand scale of things, especially once William is king? So there's no need for the child to be regal as he'll probably never be a "working royal".

I imagine that if MN was around in 1981 we'd see a "To think Zara isn't a very royal-sounding name" on AIBU!

Prince Archie, Lord Archie or just Archie?
I wonder if George helped pick the name Grin though probably not.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 08/05/2019 16:54

Zara means “princess”.

YahBasic · 08/05/2019 16:55

Not sure about Archie - literally thought “ooh Mumsnet are going to think it’s too nicknamey” Grin

Love Harrison and the nod to “Harry’s son”.

UrsulaPandress · 08/05/2019 16:56

Oh well.

I was really hoping for Theodore nn Teddy.

Why does Prince George call himself Archie?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 08/05/2019 16:56

Lovely black and white photo of the family. HMQ and the DofE look so happy. I bet HMQ took him into her arms after photo and gave him a big great granny cuddle. She looks like she’s eager to have a baby snuggle.

LikeDolphinsCanSwin · 08/05/2019 16:56

I love that photo of the queen, she looks like she’s itching to get her hands on him Grin

itswinetime · 08/05/2019 16:56

Does his name need to be regal? His 7th in line to the throne.

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/05/2019 16:57

I know that @DobbyTheHouseElk but I'm guessing that in the early 80s it wasn't the most common of names.

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 08/05/2019 16:58

(Common as in usual)

AdaColeman · 08/05/2019 16:59

Harrison sounds like a furniture store, and I’m not keen on diminutives used as full names, but it could have been worse!

queenofarles · 08/05/2019 16:59

queen yes, But comeone Archie Harrison! sounds very 1940s Hollywood, Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/05/2019 17:00

Archie is a lot better than Archibald!

OP posts:
AnneEyhtMeyer · 08/05/2019 17:01

It is awful. A nickname and a surname. What were they thinking?

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/05/2019 17:01

Interesting that they've not said what his title will be. Does he automatically become Earl Dunbarton? Because then he'd be Archie Dunbarton wouldn't he?
