Do you ‘whole body moisturise’ after washing?

I don’t but should I be? I only ever moisturise my face.

Yes. E45 though so not exactly expensive. Dries quickly too.

Minniemousejammies · 06/05/2019 19:04

I’ve used that child’s farm last couple of days and it seems to absorb quickly @Ginkypig

Yes, I have dry skin

MumUnderTheMoon · 06/05/2019 19:16

I do moisturise a lot but I am very heavily tattooed so I need to. I'm sure it just depends on your skin type.

Minniemousejammies · 06/05/2019 19:22

Does having tattoos make your skin more dry or I it just to keep them nice?

I use L'Occitane Almond shower oil or Nuxe Shower oil, so I tend to skive off the body lotion apart from my feet .

I sometimes use Nuxe oil or L'Occitane Supple Almond oil if I have time (smells divine) and whatever cream I have for my feet (plus cotton socks at night)

Sigh81 · 06/05/2019 19:38

Yes, every day. Plus separate hand and heel cream. I use coconut oil or whatever needs using up.

MumUnderTheMoon · 06/05/2019 19:44

Both. I get a bit dusty looking if I don't moisturise and they are full colour. I also stay out of the sun and use factor 50 I even carry a parasol.

cptartapp · 06/05/2019 19:51

Never ever except maybe on holiday once or twice. Hate the feeling. Don't seem to have dry skin though. Gift sets are completely wasted on me as the body lotion is always left festering at the back of the cupboard. I find most shower gels and creams are moisturising enough anyway these days.

Flobochin · 06/05/2019 20:31

Every day - my skin is smooth as a baby's bottom and I'm no spring chicken.

Celticrose · 06/05/2019 23:42

I sometimes use the Nivea in shower moisturiser. So handy to use. Put on after you have you showered and then simply rinse off. (Bit like using hair conditioner) First came across these when in Canada only they were by Olay and brought loads home with me. So was delighted when Nivea brought them out in the UK.

TantricTwist · 07/05/2019 00:09

Nope never as my skin has never been dry.

On a beach holiday though I always use Nuxe oil in the evenings after my shower, love that stuff smells so good.

FloofyDoof · 07/05/2019 00:25

I use neutrogena hydro boost body gel cream or the balm one in the tub. It's hyaluronic acid based and sinks in really quickly so good for busy mornings. I use a nice body oil over the top of it if I have time, I really like the L'Occitane almond one or Nars Monoi.

Littlechocola · 07/05/2019 00:41

Every day. Usually palmers but at the moment it’s a tinted moisturiser (can’t remember brand).

CountFosco · 07/05/2019 06:43

Dermol, a pharmacy bath oil, both cleans and leaves you nice and soft.

We use Dermol500 lotion on DS's skin (he has eczema), it is fab stuff. Squirt some in the bath and it washes and moisturises.

I have used all the eczema creams he didn't get on with on my own skin and they are fab. E45 is my go to because it's cheap and readily available, use it on my arms and every morning after my swim. No good for lanolin allergies though. Only do my legs when I've shaved them but I use Flexitol heel balm on my feet every day or they get very dry and cracked.

mellongoose · 07/05/2019 10:10

I find it really cold and uncomfortable to moisturise after a hot bath or shower. A bit like putting calomile on during chicken pox. Clearly a throwback to my 4 year old self.

AnnaMagnani · 07/05/2019 10:29

No. Since I stopped using shower gel with SLS in there has no longer been any need - I don't have ezcema anymore, let alone dry skin.

The SLS dries your skin out and so you need moisturiser - behold, they have sold you 2 products instead of one. Genius.

AreYouGonnaGetThaf · 07/05/2019 11:40

I do full body everyday. Exfoliation every other day.
Microdermabrasion scrub weekly.

I exfoliate, cleanse, tone and moisturise my face in the morning; wash, cleanse and use a leave on face mask at night.
Also do a sheet mask and microdermabrasion once a week.

I'm religious about my skin care!

RezCowgirl · 07/05/2019 13:29

No, I don't need it.

Ellapaella · 07/05/2019 13:31

@AnnaMagnani what are SLS?

MacrosomicMumma · 07/05/2019 13:36

God yes. I would scratch myself to bits if I didn't from the dry skin.

AnnaMagnani · 07/05/2019 13:49

@Ellapaella

SLS is Sodium Laureth Sulfate. It's what makes the bubbles. It's also what makes the bubbles in toothpaste and in washing up liquid and in washing powder/liquid. We have been programmed to think bubbles = clean but you don't need them for cleaning.

If you read one of the many threads of people going back to soap from shower gel, they are full of posters finding their skin is less dry with soap to their surprise. It's because they don't have the SLS stripping it anymore.

Same on the Curly Girl threads of posters with curly hair wanting SLS-free shampoo so their curly hair isn't dried out.

I got obsessed when I had ezcema and found that I healed it just by changing what I washed with. Luckily these days there are so many more SLS-free shower gels, 15 yrs ago there wasn't much choice!

SoyYo · 08/05/2019 10:10

@ella I agree with above. I follow CG method religiously and only use SLS free shampoos/silicone:alcohol free conditioners and hair products and over the last 8 years it’s transformed my previously very dry hair and scalp into normal.
On the body options I also use Sulfate free body products and a bit of soap but maybe because I live in a very hard water area I end up with “tight” skin if I don’t use body/face cream? Also tbh I do it for the smell.
I know that sounds strange but I love how my body smells after using Body Shop Moringa body butter and most days that subtle scent is enough without using other scents on top. In the summer I love Clarins Eau Dynamisante body lotion it’s fresh and absorbs super fast but I can’t use every day as it’s not that moisturising and if I use more than a couple of days in a row skin starts feeling dry again.
So I guess it depends on your skin type and how ancient you are (deffo need more now than I did a decade or more ago).
But SLS free shower gel would work on a lot of people to do away with body lotion altogether

HedgeSparrow · 08/05/2019 10:35

This is mindboggling - I had no idea people did this so frequently. I'll do so after shaving my legs (which happens once a blue moon anyway as I'm not hairy). My skin is probably a bit dry though.

Doesn't this make your clothes greasy if done on a morning though, or else your bedsheets slimy? Maybe I just have moristurisers that don't sink in enough?

tierraJ · 08/05/2019 11:16

After my shower I use Vaseline intensive care body lotion which absorbs quickly; if I'm in a hurry I always moisturise my lower legs & arms every day as they get driest.
