Wedding dress - I love all of these but they're budget-busters...any suggestions for similar but CHEAPER?

Bad idea to browse sites I can't ever afford Grin

Anyway, it's a city wedding, am mid-40s (cough) want something chic and unfussy (no meringues), long, not completely sleeveless but doesn't have to be long sleeved either. Am dithering about whether I really want to wear white/ivory (2nd marriage) but everything I really love seems to be in those colours anyway...

And of course want to look age-appropriate but not frumpy.

I could probably justify up to £500 but not much more.

I'm getting dress blindness now - help would be MUCH appreciated!

They are beautiful dresses. I love dress 1 in particular!

No 1 is my favourite too - it's utterly gorgeous but I can't afford it!

It's almost half the price of the others!

Dress 1 is the best, it's AMAZING

I would suggest checking out Jenny Packham (I wore one of her dresses for my wedding) I brought it from Davids Bridal, and I think it was around £800. However they often have sales so if you have some time you could get a great deal!

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 05/05/2019 18:46

I could have dress 1 and just not feed anyone I suppose Grin

Have you tried Ghost for stuff similar to number 1?

They're all gorgeous!!!

CrunchyCrumpet · 05/05/2019 18:53

How about somewhere like Phase Eight or Ted Baker? PP mentioned Jenny Packham which is also possible!

You might find something at www.ghost.co.uk

LikeSilver · 05/05/2019 18:55

This or this?

John Lewis have a fair few - the Ghost ones are beaut but I can’t see any with sleeves there.

Stiffasaboard · 05/05/2019 18:59

Dress 2 is a bit too cruise ship to be classy

Dress 1 will be VERY unforgiving. I tried on a similar wedding dress when I was a size 8 pre children and it showed up as a lump a tiny mole I had on my belly!

This is similar from ghost

Stiffasaboard · 05/05/2019 19:01

Ha ha we all came up with the same one!!

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 05/05/2019 19:02

Oh Ghost is a great idea. There's this for £99!

The Raishma dress is very pretty but rather like the dress I wore first time around Blush

I'd love a Jenny Packham - her dresses are beautiful. I'll definitely keep an eye out for the sale

This is lovely

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 05/05/2019 19:04

I agree Dress 1 will show every lump...I am probably not skinny enough to get away with it, in truth.

I really like the shape of that BA&SH one, I think it would be a bit more forgiving, but wonder if that material is a bit blingy?

I love the Ghost dress OP has linked to and for £99 it’s a steal

MissMoan · 05/05/2019 19:10

I love #2! EBay?

polloppllo · 05/05/2019 19:14

This is simple, chic and effortless.
