Marks and Spencer - Per Una, all changed?

I was in Marks yesterday having a browse, and they'd moved all the concessions around, so I wasn't familiar with the new layout, and I found myself in the Per Una bit which I'd normally avoid.

It's had a total revamp. No ruffles, random detail buttons or embroidery in sight. I couldnt believe I was in Per Una, It all seemed so...normal. And ok actually.

I'm a bit stunned! When did they decide to ditch the ruffly, asymetric hems stuff?

Sorry, I’m never able to actually post a damn picture 😟

LIZS · 04/05/2019 12:24

It's more like Classics but more ££! Very dull. M and S has gone with orange this season.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 04/05/2019 12:25

Placemarking because I live for MN per una threads.

SimplyPut · 04/05/2019 12:31

I got a classics blazer and a per una tie front blouse last week (10% off sparks). I love the look but need to convince myself I'm not 78!

That's why I never understood the rational of using Twiggy as a model.

Trying to attract a younger customer with a pensioner model.... no matter how fab she looks, and she does look fab, isnt going to get young people buying the clothes. I was in my 40s then, not young, and it even put me off!

I went yesterday and I think there is a general improvement with M&S. Nice rib t-shirts.Very 90s fashion

CountFosco · 04/05/2019 12:42

They're listening to us, lots more natural fabrics!

teta · 04/05/2019 12:50

Yes, I think M&S started to improve last summer. I bought several pairs of the wide cropped linen trousers & the denim culottes last year. Plus a couple of khaki cotton sundresses this year. I notice the online styling has also improved a bit, but still has a way to go.

goose1964 · 04/05/2019 14:01

I bought these a few weeks ago, they're seriously flattering www.marksandspencer.com/wide-leg-cropped-trousers/p/p60260445?image=SD_01_T57_7081_KF_X_EC_90&color=EMERALD&prevPage=srp

BestIsWest · 04/05/2019 14:04

I like their jeans - not the ones with sparkly bits on.

BestIsWest · 04/05/2019 14:06

I hate the colours though. Mustard and rust do nothing for me. I need cool colours.

Thetreeonthehill · 04/05/2019 14:06

Gosh just checked all these links . It looks like after about 20 years of being given the same message over and over that they are finally listening. Will definitely go have a look in there now as I never think to step through the door in case I am drowned under a pile of frilly blouses and waterfall cardies.

MikeUniformMike · 04/05/2019 14:12

It all looks good. I wandered into Debenhams this week and they had nice stuff in. Quite a lot of sleeveless though. I hate sleeveless dresses.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 04/05/2019 14:17

A lot better, but so much mustard and orange. Doesn’t suit me at all. I did however spunk a few quid on their cool comfort bras (not many shops make nice undies for 38GG) and some slim leg jeans.

OVAgroundWOMBlingfree · 04/05/2019 14:27

Wow it has really changed.
I really like the utility jacket.

Troels · 04/05/2019 14:42

I went and got some of these in blue and these in burnt orange. I have them in green from last year too. Fit nice, and feel good.

sunshinesupermum · 04/05/2019 14:54

Thanks goose1964 they are a mix of linen and viscose - perfect for the summer!

Wondermoomin · 04/05/2019 16:05

Goose I bought those cropped wide leg linen trousers as well, I love them. Have them in navy, hoping for some other colours to come out (apart from the ones that are there already).

Ladygloss · 04/05/2019 16:24

Thanks for the link Goose. Exactly what I've been looking for. I was in yesterday and got two of these which will be great for summer

They do have nicer things in than usual. I love their jeans, just the £19.50 ones I have them in skinny and slim.

youllhavehadyourtea · 04/05/2019 18:12

I really like this jacket
It's Per Una.

www.marksandspencer.com/open-front-kimono/p/p60219957

It's washed black, which I really like - cant really wear true black.

Actually , right now I have 3 Per Una items in my M&S online shopping basket.
What has happened to my world??!!

Here's Vogue's take on the new look Marks , it's not just Per Una that's changed, although to my mind it's the most radical overhaul.

www.vogue.co.uk/gallery/marks-spencer-spring-summer-2019-collection-vogue-verdict

' There's a new womenswear team at Marks & Spencer keen to shake up - by calming down - the retailer's fashion offering. '

I think the new design team have done really well. Stylish, paired down wihtout being boring. I actually really love it - I would wear any/all of these, (if I had the money - some of it is pretty pricey.)
