Best foundation for medium coverage and dewy finish

Thisismynewname123 · 03/05/2019 12:03

I'm looking for a new quality liquid foundation with a dewy finish and medium coverage. Off shopping shortly and I don't want to go to every make up concession. I need to know which one I'm heading for. I'm off my favourite Lancome Teint Miracle one since they changed the formula when they recently changed the lid, so I'm looking for something to replace the old version of it.

I have recently changed to the Clinique one Sali Hughes raves about here.

Best hydrating foundations

It is exactly how she describes and I have had loads of compliments.

Hands down Chanel Vitalumiere (original not aqua)

Milani 2-1 Smile

Thisismynewname123 · 04/05/2019 07:50

Thanks all. I've never heard of Milani 2-1. Is that a make up counter one? I need someone to help me with finding the right colour if I'm going for a new foundation, so I'll go today to John Lewis.

I'll look at the Chanel one. I've always considered Chanel to be over budget, but just did a quick google and it doesn't seem to be much more than my usual Lancome one.

I've never really got on with any Clinique foundations, although to be fair, I haven't tried one for probably 15 years! So things could have changed.

I found this blog. There is a Clinique one on this list, so maybe I need to rethink Clinique. I'm going to head out with this list as my starting point:

Chanel is worth the money. So so worth it

I used to use Dermalogica UltraCalming Ultra Sensitive Tint SPF30 but it's been discontinued. i remain on the hunt for a light coverage dewey tinted moisturser or foundation. will check out some of these as starting to need more coverage as i age.

thepointt · 04/05/2019 19:34

Light coverage - anything Dr Jart

MrsElbadrama · 05/05/2019 05:42

I love Nars Sheer Glow I think it's called

MustardScreams · 05/05/2019 05:55

Boots Hydraluminous foundation is the best. It leaves my skin looking perfect, I love it so much!

BestIsWest · 05/05/2019 09:29

Hang on. They’ve changed the formula of Teint Miracle? This is a disaster. I am using up a stock pile I bought a while back.

Sagradafamiliar · 05/05/2019 14:21

Makeup forever ultra HD stick, hands down.

Thisismynewname123 · 05/05/2019 17:34

Update. I went yesterday and got samples from Clinique, Even better glow, Bobby Brown and Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude Water. I've tried the clinique one today. I liked the dewy finish, but the coverage is too light for me, and it doesn't really seem to build. It would be good for a weekend, or in the summer when I need less coverage, but not so much for work or a night out. I think tomorrow I'll try the Estee Lauder one, although I think the coverage might be a bit light on that one as well. My skin isn't bad, but I'm mid-40s and definitely need some evening out of skin tone.

I had gone yesterday before aassll also commented on the Chanel one, so I may go back and get a sample of that one as well before committing to a new one!

They didn't have a Nars counter, but I would have tried that if they did, so I may try somewhere else for the Nars one (all this bearing in mind I've probably been using Lancome Teint Miracle for about 10 years, so I feel like a new foundation is a long term commitment, once I find one I love!!)

BestIsWest, yes, the formula has changed. If you have the glass lid, they're the old formula. The new ones have a black plastic lid :(

I’m using the Boots Hydroluminous one that’s recommended in Sali Hughes’s article. It’s bloody brilliant stuff for the price!

BestIsWest · 05/05/2019 17:52

Oh no, I have 2 left with the old glass lid.

TheCanterburyWhales · 05/05/2019 18:28

YSL Teint Éclat.
I want to try the new Clinique though.
I bought (eBay) samples of Dior Fusion, YSL Teint Éclat and Nars Sheer Glow and the YSL won.
I've used Chanel Beiges and Chanel Perfection Lumiere in the past but they weren't holy grails.

SorrelForbes · 05/05/2019 18:32

I've tried all the above and have gone back to EL DW Nude Water Fresh. It is quite light but has good coverage and builds up well without caking.

Plainandsimple · 05/05/2019 22:51

Try Dior's new Forever Skin, either in Matt or Glow. I went looking for Nars tinted moisturiser but no counter staff to help me, so the lovely lady at Dior suggested I try theirs instead! Tried the Glow, its great - good but light coverage, doesn't sink into pores/sit in lines, lasts well, feels weightless and a good colour match. Not cheap at £37, but I think worth it.

Sybelline · 05/05/2019 22:53

IT Cosmetics CC cream

gd1976 · 05/05/2019 23:32

IT COSMETICS CC!!

WhereAreWeNow · 05/05/2019 23:35

I'm really impressed by the new Clinique. I'm not generally a Clinique foundation fan but this one is v good.

KaliforniaDreamz · 06/05/2019 09:57

i tried Mac body and face bt it is like coloured water. rubbish.

Nuffaluff · 06/05/2019 10:06

I also have the boots hydro luminous one. So cheap and really very good.

Pengrin · 06/05/2019 10:14

IT cosmetics has barely any coverage.

One person’s full coverage is another’s tinted moisturiser!

I’ve been trying foundations for about a year now to replace ELDW as it’s drying my skin out after years of use. Have tried all of those mentioned and many more, including US drug store and Korean recommendations. Alas, no luck.

CinnamonSweet73 · 06/05/2019 10:14

Thanks for posting! I too love the Teint Miracle and was so disappointed to hear they changed the formula. Hoping to go shopping this week and try some of the recommendations!
