‘Cheshire Glamour’ for a wedding?

RocketSurgery · 30/04/2019 21:02

I’m going to a wedding in a few weeks and was just booking a hotel so had another look at the invitation to check exactly where it was. I hadn’t noticed before but on the invitation it says ‘dress code - Cheshire Glamour’.

I was planning on wearing my generic wedding outfit of a knee length blue Monsoon dress and flats and now worrying I’m going to look a complete frump. I don’t really wear heels as I’m really tall and don’t like to make myself even more enormous. Should I wear something else? Nipple tassels maybe?

I’ve never even been to Cheshire before so I have no idea what to expect. Is Cheshire glamour similar to Essex glamour or is it classier? I’m basing this comment on Towie, I’ve never been to Essex either.

I live in Cheshire, not far from all the footballers, and have absolutely no idea what 'Cheshire Glamour' means. Sounds awful. Wear what makes you look and feel good 😁

lottieleo · 30/04/2019 23:06

GrinI'm also close to Chester and never heard of Cheshire glamour.
Do they fancy themselves as one of the "housewife's of Chester"
Wear what you feel best in, then you will feel glamorous in your own right anyway.

gettingtherequickly · 30/04/2019 23:08

I imagine they mean Cheshire wives style outfits, so yes think TOWIE (definitely not classier).

Ignore and wear your standard outfit, you'll look lovely and feel comfortable.

HarrietSchulenberg · 01/05/2019 00:23

Heehee, they're probably thinking of Alderley Edge but you could always remind them that Runcorn and Crewe are Cheshire too and they aren't quite as, er, stylish.

Mrskeats · 01/05/2019 00:24

I’m chester too. Waves to lottie. What madness is that though!

HeddaGarbled · 01/05/2019 00:30

Wear your planned outfit but add vertiginously high heels, fake tan and a shit load of make up 😉

OVAgroundWOMBlingfree · 01/05/2019 00:36

Cheshire Glamour, really? For real? GrinGrin
Get yourself a Botox session booked in and buy some massive heels if RHOC is anything to go by.

I live on the GM/Cheshire border and can’t stop laughing. I went to a wedding in Cheshire a few weeks ago and wore a Cos dress and flat sandals, I expect not up to scratch. I did get my hair blow dried though.

TapasForTwo · 01/05/2019 00:39

I dislike being told what to wear at weddings. Just wear what you want.

boatyardblues · 01/05/2019 00:43

Wear what you want. If anyone complains, say you are rocking Cheshire faded glamour.

OVAgroundWOMBlingfree · 01/05/2019 00:51

Surely no one will complain that you aren’t glamorous enough? Could you imagine that awkward situation.

PolarBearBubbles · 01/05/2019 01:00

I can only imagine it means tacky, tacky and even more tacky!

augustusglupe · 01/05/2019 01:02

Yes OP you’re going sophisticated Cheshire glam if anyone asks. Christ I bet there’s some sights at that wedding Grin For what its worth im footballer end of Cheshire too and i really don’t know what ‘Cheshire glam’ is unless it refers to the housewives programme. Dress exactly as you want, you’ll look lovely!!

RocketSurgery · 01/05/2019 10:45

It’s really odd as the groom is the most straight laced accountant type you could imagine. I’ve only ever seen him in very normal shirts and trousers. I really hope he’s wearing something magnificent at his wedding. A bejewelled cape or something.

A bejewelled cape or something.

Oh we should have more bejewelled groom capes at weddings!

No idea what you're meant to wear but I fear it may involve skyscraper heels and a bucket of fake tan as outlined above.

Is the bride called Chardonnay?

userxx · 01/05/2019 13:20

Nipple tassels are a must...……… I wont leave the house without mine.

Cheshire Glamour, botox, fillers and HD brows are required. Seriously though, wear your planned dress, you want to be comfortable and if everyone else is wearing car-to-bar shoes then I guarantee they will be off within the hour and you'll still be taller :-)

Swiftier · 01/05/2019 16:05

I think you need to provide an update after the wedding on what everyone was wearing!

TapasForTwo · 01/05/2019 16:07

Yes, please do update. I want to know what Cheshire glamour is.

churchthecat · 01/05/2019 16:09

Amazing! That's the worst wedding theme I have ever heard of.

Laodamia · 01/05/2019 16:22

They must be referring to Real Housewives of Cheshire. Don't they look......err...........ummmm.....glitzy.

HappinessIsKey · 01/05/2019 16:22

Cheshire glamour?! That sounds horrid. So you're in for over the top make up, hair extensions, boob jobs, botox, lip fillers, loads of sparkle..if you don't have a designer clutch bag..you will be ridiculed!

YetAnotherBloodyNameChanger · 01/05/2019 16:23

Haha They are definitely suggesting the real housewives look but I’ve lived in alderley edge and the people all wear normal clothes just like any other village in Cheshire. I’d e eye rolling my way all round that wedding Grin

fluffiphlox · 01/05/2019 16:54

Perhaps have a look at what is worn to Ladies’ Day at the Aintree Grand National meeting. Is that what they have in mind? Smile

picklemepopcorn · 01/05/2019 16:59

Make sure you are suitably vajazzled.

maslinpan · 01/05/2019 17:02

So what will the men be sporting? Or will this just pass them by completely.

thedevilinablackdress · 01/05/2019 17:07

Ignore it, pretend you never noticed.
