How to look hot at work

I really fancy someone I work with, early days but still I want this man. I have a reasonably professional role though. The men wear jeans nice shoes blazer and a shirt.

Am thinking shirt dresses or something that clings but not ridiculously so.
Anything nice around and all other suggestions very welcome. I’m coming from the gym every morning so goodness knows how I’ll manage my hair but we’ll worry about that later

OP. This is what you do.

Wear whatever YOU think makes you look hot (provided it's appropriate and not a huge change from your usual style). Then, when you cross him in the corridor, look straight at him and let him be the one that looks away. That should do the trick.

Alternatively, turn up at work in your fluffiest, most luxurious bath towel. When you come across him, casually slip it off to reveal your gloriously naked body. Don't forget to moisturize 😉.

You're welcome.

Jane Norman?! The lead supplier for preteen school disco outfits? No.

RottnestFerry · 26/04/2019 20:36

might save that for the Christmas party

Probably a good idea.

I'm with Porridge on this!

@YesQueen, I wear Km a lot, at our wedding a guest wore a km dress and dh knew it was km even though it was a year or two old and not one I’ve tried on.

He can also tell kurt Geiger shoes.

This from the man who can’t find the brown sauce if I put a tin of beans in front of it. Observant when it suits them.

So what SHOULD an engineer be wearing then? Asking for a friend...

Thatsalovelycuppatea · 26/04/2019 21:13

Surely connection is more important? I know and understand you want to make an impression, but Taking a job for the man isn't worth it, and at the end of the day what if you don't get on? It's a wasted effort.

Whatever she feels comfortable in. I'm a scientist in a corporate environment, we have a smart casual dress code, and my female colleagues wear everything from docs, miniskirts and a t-shirt to heels, skinnies and a jumper via hippy dresses or sundresses. The big thing that is considered unprofessional by the dinosaurs is a faceful of make up and stilettos. But the dinosaurs aren't involved in graduate recruitment and what I care about is brains, work ethic and ability to get on with others.

RottnestFerry · 26/04/2019 21:38

Absolutely. My wife wears pretty much everything you have mentioned but never any makeup (or docs).

BikeRunSki · 26/04/2019 21:41

I tend to wear plain coloured stretch citykb trousers (Bode. Richmond style a current favourite), flat shoes, blouse or Breton top, jersey blazer. Or high vis and safety boots. Depends who I am meeting, what I am doing that day. Not sure I have ever seen any of my colleagues in a wiggle dress/body con in 20 years!

letsdolunch321 · 26/04/2019 22:01

Op you really want this man .....

Can I ask is he single?

Do you think he is interested in you?

RuggyPeg · 27/04/2019 06:39

Open toe sandals at work is just a no. A big fat no. Never ever.

Sexist thing at work? Being competent, being passionate, being professional, engaged, interesting, getting results.

Don't suddenly start vamping it up at work. Just subtly up your game. Nice nails, great skin, hair styled etc. Then focus on your career 😁

Inliverpool1 · 27/04/2019 15:14

@letsdolunch321 he absolutely is single and I wouldn’t waste my time unless I believed it’s mutual. I guess we’ll see in time

Well done! Grin

NameUserChange · 03/05/2019 19:08

You can't just leave it there! In what way is it going well?!?

Inliverpool1 · 03/05/2019 19:52

We had lunch, little peck on the lips goodbye. This will be a slow burn but there are a few occasions coming up with huge amounts of alcohol that present the opportunity to seal the deal 😬
So far I’ve worn pencil dress, heels and fishnets, then mini skirt and a T-shirt all of which have been noted and commented on, I knew he was a man of taste, dresses well himself

Is that you Carol?

ILoveMyNewRing · 03/05/2019 20:49

I’m loving the unfolding romantic drama

SlipperOrchid · 04/05/2019 16:55

Please keep giving regular updates....... I worked in an office where plenty of people had ONS and affairs but little romance. I am really enjoying reading your posts.

AliceRR · 04/05/2019 18:12

People obviously don’t agree but many people notice grooming and the lack of grooming far more than we might like to admit.

I agree with you about the grooming and that it could give someone more confidence and doesn’t require a dramatic change or new wardrobe

Actually I was logged on already slipperorchid but thanks for asking.

I think the point was that you were rude. I know MN can be a bit that way especially in AIBU but when the OP has asked for advice for this specific situation and another PP gave some advice it’s bad form and a bit aggressive to comment in the manner you did

Did you end up buying the stuff you posted about earlier OP?

Agree, do keep us updated please! I’m glad it’s going well. A peck on the lips is v promising. He obviously likes you so dont try to hard!! (Or at least don’t let him know if you are)

RuffleCrow · 04/05/2019 18:16

It really depends on the individual. Some people look better at 60 than i do in my late 30s. Many more don't Grin

Inliverpool1 · 04/05/2019 18:32

@AliceRR I haven’t bought anything tbh I just lost 3lbs prior to starting which has allowed me to squeeze into a few old favourites and I had my hair blow dried straight on the Tuesday which lasted all week - am going to incorporate that into my budget. Nails done too and that’ll do for now, don’t want to go over board but he’s very touchy feely and made a comment about my LinkedIn photo not doing me justice and me being like a fine wine maturing nicely .... I think he has the milf thing going on
