Yes, I’d say peacock blue too.

I’m not that keen personally. I think it’s the upturned collar giving it a fussy vibe.

SwimmingintheDeepBLUESea · 25/04/2019 13:35

I love Kate's coat dress - it's got a lovely cut and i like the colour (on my screen it looks like a more blueish teal than normal teal - if that makes sense)

Queen very good point about how the two duchesses must be getting on fine, otherwise Harry wouldn't be so relaxed and happy with Kate.

coveryourears well spotted on the tie front.

Thedarklady · 25/04/2019 13:44

Katie's dress was a boring old twee fart with too much volume and the material didn't look nice in close ups. The colour is wonderful though, I like her gloves and her shoes was gorgeous and glam.

She always looks more relaxed and happy with Harry then William to me (no shade to William intended) .

BlingLoving · 25/04/2019 13:45

I like it. And I love that neckline - similar to the coat from Easter Sunday? It just makes the whole thing a little sharper. On my computer the green shoes don't look absolutely fabulous. It doesn't look bad, just not quite right. But I do like the idea of her not going for default navy/black/beige shoes (spoken as a woman who, pre-babies, was well-known for interesting and colourful shoe collection....).

Thedarklady · 25/04/2019 13:45

Are/were not was

BlingLoving · 25/04/2019 13:46

Ooh, and on the HRHDUchessKate blog I just saw the necklace - I love the pendant.

BlingLoving · 25/04/2019 13:48

Just flicking through Charlotte's post from Easter and there's a great picture of Kate curtsying to the queen. Honestly, Teresa May needs lessons - keep you back straight while doing it and you look less like a combination of the hunchback of notre dame and a 11 year old serf from 2000 years ago.....

BlingLoving · 25/04/2019 13:50

Sorry, one last comment on today's look - this is going to sound ridiculous - but she just looks so grown up. Like a "proper" woman. We've discussed on here before how she's really growing into the role and it's photos like from today that really show it to me. She's a beautiful and young but she's also a real woman and somehow it comes through.

Don't think I've expressed that well. But I think often she looks almost girlish or whatever. But increasingly she looks all grown up.

Thedarklady · 25/04/2019 13:54

(Not aimed at anyone in particular)

What proof was there that Kate and Megan were ever at loggerheads? The papers are so silly. There was a story that changed several times and eventually became "Megan made poor Kate cry at Charlotte's dress fitting!" I doubt Megan even attended that as she missed other more 'important' things.

The photos taken at Wimbledon show that Kate and Meg get on well enough. They don't have to be besties if they're married to brothers. Some people aren't happy with Harry unless he's doing what they want.

BlingLoving · 25/04/2019 14:06

@thedarklady - that's kind of the point. There is no evidence, just ridiculous speculation and gossip. There are suggestions of a rift between Harry and William now, but even that has no real basis in fact except the fact that they apparently aren't as friendly when they're out together. I think most people agree there may well be some disagreements between them but no one has any real idea what it's about.

As I come from a large family, I can imagine it could be from something major to something relatively silly that acted as the final straw. It's not unusual in our family for two or more of us to have a falling out of something during which we then spend a few days/weeks/months ranting to our respective partners and/or other family members about how Person X is always so pig headed/obnoxious/hypocritical/whatever thing we've taken against in that moment. It all blows over but for a while at family events we're a lot less likely to be super friendly!

justasking111 · 25/04/2019 14:12

Didn`t the Queen wear coats like this when she was young, it sure shows off a tiny waist beautifully.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 25/04/2019 14:19

Love Kate's outfit and bottle green bag and shoes.

Looks like William is the issue in the family feud.

Becles · 25/04/2019 14:24

And also why the smile (sorry it's Meghan- smirk) on a solemn occasion

TyraAllen · 25/04/2019 14:26

On the criticism front, the Express went with the headline 'Kate bares her legs in £6000 outfit at Anzac Day service' and I was almost expecting she'd worn one of her shorter skirt suits that everyone says are too young for her (or leather hotpants, which would really be the only thing which would make the headline appropriate), which I suspect means they had most of the story written in advance, and just substituted 'Kate' for 'Meghan' and the details of the outfit.

As for the colour, I like it, but I also think the line between teal and peacock is entirely subjective!

beanaseireann · 25/04/2019 14:29

Rhubarbisevil
As you say "Blue and green should never be seen."
May I add "...except when worn by an Irish coleen."
Wink

Personally I think it's codswallop.
They look nice together, depending on shades.

RaymondReddington · 25/04/2019 14:37

I love her shoes. They seem quite high for Kate. Especially walking on the cobbled steps on the way in!

Humpy84 · 25/04/2019 14:55

@BlingLoving think you’re right and I wish I had a big family like yours, sounds like at the end of the day you’re warm, loving and unconditional. I was reading an article recently about a former press member’s view of the bond between WIlliam and Harry. When Harry returned from Afghanistan prematurely he was very upset but had to fulfill press obligations. During the interview WIlliam made a cut throat guesture to signal that the interview was over and his brother wasn’t up to it. I really think people underestimate the bond between the brothers.

It’s undeniable I think that WIlliam doesn’t like MM. Scarf-gate/the footage of WIlliam adjusting his scarf and ignoring MM might be trivial to some but that was, I think, definitely a snub to Meghan. He either doesn’t respect her for some reason or another. I also recall the look he gave her when she met Harry at the aisle. It was the look a mean girl gives another girl if she doesn’t approve. It seemed really overt for a televised wedding and I’m surprised people didn’t pick up on it. I’m not sure if there is an actual feud within the rf for Meghan or just a collective dislike as though she doesn’t fit in. I imagine if people did close ups of my in-laws it would be something similar, I really don’t fit in and am not liked by the female in-laws and I feel like with Meghan, there’s a similar kind of aloofness forwards her. Maybe. WIlliam doesn’t like her anyway.

My best best of this whole debacle is that WIlliam calls the shots largely. He’s a big and strong personality and he is the most powerful
Royal after HM. Charles is next in inline but he doesn’t have Wills star power or popularity or glamorous wife. Anyway so I think WIlliam has power with the queen and with the media. You’ve got Meghan who has grand plans and is ambitious and I think it’s inevitable the pair would lock heads.

I think Harry and Meghan should just move to Canada. It makes a lot of sense, it’s an 8 hour flight to London and they could fundraise more. Ultimately it’s about philanthropy, functions, fundraisers and making a difference. It would make the royals a global brand.

There’s heaps on twitter about WIlliam and Kate affair and I don’t believe it for a second. I don’t think WIlliam would be that foolish or take risks close to home. I think it was a mild flirtation at best. Feel sorry for this Rose lady as she is probably banished now in aristocratic circles.

ShakeYourTailFeathers · 25/04/2019 15:01

How do they keep those little hats on?

Laiste · 25/04/2019 15:07

I love her coat and the colour. The cut is beautiful. I agree with a pp who said when you get in close the fabric is not as nice as you'd expect though.

I'd love to look half as good as that in my coat Grin

MarkleSparkle · 25/04/2019 15:10

Sorry to drag the thread down to gossip again, but a few people have mentioned Kate’s spine of steel in previous threads and this stuck out at me in the Times:

“This is another battle Kate will obviously win, because no one wins against Kate, not even William, who caved, let us never forget, after 10 years of her PR onslaught. Do you know how much steel it takes to casually pretend you’re not bothered for nearly a decade? Kate can go longer, stronger, harder and faster than anyone - and will use women such as Meghan and Rose to prove it.”

BlingLoving · 25/04/2019 15:21

@marklesparkle - that was a horrible article by Camilla Long I think? Honestly, it was so unpleasant and unnecessary. kate and william got together in their early 20s. I don't know a single couple who got together that early who didn't have a complicated path to long-term commitment. And their situation was complicated by the media frenzy surrounding them plus William's issues as a result of his mother's death.

StCharlotte · 25/04/2019 15:23

pinkladyapples

What CPV lacks in day-wear style with her Mary Tyler-Moore trouser suits (you were so right Queen), she more than makes up for with evening wear and tiara events. She damn nearly outshone Princess Madeleine as the bride at her wedding!

For what it's worth, I really love these threads and feel like I "know" people now. I too have namechanged but have appeared at least once on each thread I think. I get a bit squeamish when the discussion royal politics starts but that's because I like to think the best of people and don't like to think of the royals falling out, cheating, being manipulative etc. But then, there have been so few style occasions to discuss lately, the gossip element is bound to come into play.

Thanks by the way for the Max hats link - that woman is the very personification of "joie de vivre"!

BertrandRussell · 25/04/2019 15:26

“How do they keep those little hats on?”

A special little spike surgically implanted on their 21st birthdays. True fact.

MarkleSparkle · 25/04/2019 15:29

Thanks Bling couldn’t remember the journalist. I would agree with you, but then looking at Kate being all radiant and happy over the Easter weekend despite the rumours I also think hmm that kind of fits the pattern mentioned.

SenecaFalls · 25/04/2019 15:30

I really don't think that William has star power. He seems nice enough and very benign but rather ordinary in a good way.

From all accounts, Charles is a big fan of Meghan's, and I think that will account for a lot, especially in the future.
