I need cheap cotton sun dresses

Have booked an expensive holiday to cheer myself up and now have no money for clothes!

I've been looking for cheap dresses but they're all viscose, etc which I guess at 30degrees in humid conditions won't be pleasant.

Where might I find quite cheap stuff which will be nicer to wear?

I had some nice ones off eBay last year (recommended on here), and I’m sure they were about £7

Aimily · 21/04/2019 07:57

Amazon fashion is quite good too I've found. I bought a couple of cheap cotton drop dresses a few years back and still wear them now

MynameisJune · 21/04/2019 07:58

H&M have some 100% linen and cotton/linen blend dresses on their website.

DelilahTheSlagFromTheBible · 21/04/2019 08:00

I've bought a few from Amazon over the years. Various styles, 100% cotton and inexpensive. There's a fair bit of polyester crap as you scroll through though!

OldJoseph · 21/04/2019 08:00

Asda had some cheap linen dresses.

Petalflowers · 21/04/2019 08:02

Sainsbury has 25% off at the moment.

Never ordered anything, but also have considered “ Everything five pounds’ Or something like that.

NicoAndTheNiners · 21/04/2019 08:08

Thanks for the ideas.

I've already got a couple from Asda. I seem late to the Sainsbury's sale, just looked and a dress I would have liked is sold out in my size.

eBay and Amazon are great ideas, just started on eBay and found a lovely cotton dress for £8 already. Will check out H&M as well.

Tk maxx - you can go online if you find the shop unbearable as I know many do.
Think they have a good returns policy and I'm sure you can click and collect...

You can also then get it all from one shop in one big order.

Failing that try BooHoo usually the cheapest of the online shops, the primark of of the online stores

Viscose isn’t bad in the heat actually and as a semi natural fibre it lets skin breathe.
However if you want cotton, I’d go thin so the crumples don’t matter.

My local market has a dress seller with some from Italy, cheap and cool.I’d second TKMaxx. My best, wear every summer, cotton dress is from Fat Face.Everyone loves it. Always needs an iron though.

Ha ha ha. If I had a pound for everytime people said it is breathable - why does it make me sweat like a pig then?

I absolutely loathe the vile stuff and am pissed of that clothes stores are full of the pestilence.

wigglypiggly · 21/04/2019 14:53

Look at floryday dresses

HiHoney · 21/04/2019 15:35

Try SHEIN. Some of their things can be hit or miss but I always look to buy things that have been reviewed with photos. They have an app as well as website.

WatchingTheWheels85 · 21/04/2019 15:49

I got this dress from newlook it's not cotton but for the money it's really nice.

H&M sometimes do nice things - I cannot get on with their website though.
Couple of years ago I bought a dress that was praised on S&B, fit&flare with pockets Grin , not sure what it was made of but it was weighty enough to drape , no creasing wore it in Tenerife and Turkey , no problems .

evilharpy · 21/04/2019 16:50

There must be an Ebay equivalent to the faux Hush harems.

NicoAndTheNiners · 21/04/2019 16:56

I hate the H&M website as well. Currently housebound as well so can't physically go shopping which is annoying.

Am struggling to find cotton stuff on amazon, even when I search for cotton most of the stuff it brings up is polyester.

Would viscose be okay then? I guess cotton is best, or linen. Polyester is worst? Viscose somewhere in the middle? Going to be 29degrees and humid.

Found some nice looking stuff on eBay, but it's all a gamble what it's actually like when it turns up. One dress I saw on eBay and looks nice, the same dress is for sale in amazon with awful, reviews, a lot saying it's not even cotton like the advert says.

I like that veryyoga dress.

Me too, has anyone bought from there before?

Catchingbentcoppers · 21/04/2019 17:20

Ah. Just read some reviews. I wouldn't touch them.

MsMamaNature · 21/04/2019 17:23

Reviews for that company aren't great - don't think they are Uk based so may be issues with delivery times.

MsMamaNature · 21/04/2019 17:29

M&S do some. Bit more expensive than some already suggested here but may be worth a look.

Well ive orderd 4 dresses from eBay. So along with my 2 from George and some I must already have in my wardrobe I'm hoping I will have enough. I don't need a new dress every day do I, I can always hand wash in the sink if I need to and will really only be wearing them in the evenings.

I'm currently wearing this M&S one which is very light and comfortable.

Tootrousers · 21/04/2019 21:45

I wear a lot of viscose dresses in the summer and I find it just as cool as cotton. Def not polyester though, I wouldn’t consider it all in the summer. Viscose is completely different to polyester
