Spent two hours on Sunday looking for a pair of black lace up shoes which would keep the school happy and be something dd would be willing to wear. Found three pairs in the whole of our town centre.
Can anyone suggest a website where I can find nice shoes/ boots in a size nine or a ten as she is growing at a rate of knots and isn't showing any signs of stopping!
School uniform is very strict and she tends to spend most of her time at home in mens trainers.

Long tall sally?

Bacciferous · 16/04/2019 20:26

Just had a look and couldn't see any black lace ups but they've got lots of styles in bigger sizes (Not cheap though)

Waterdropsdown · 16/04/2019 20:28

Be careful about buying online and sizes - some shops a nine is a euro 43 and some a euro 42 (which is more commonly a size 8)

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 16/04/2019 20:28

New Look website goes up to size 9, as do Asda. I had to wear men's shoes for most of high school (size 9 myself) so thank you for being a lovely mum!!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 16/04/2019 20:32

Be careful with Shoe Zone, though, as their idea of a ladies 9 is realistically more like an 8 because it's so narrow, ime

Bigearringsbigsmile · 16/04/2019 20:34

Clarks do girls school shoes in a 9 and 10

TacoFlavouredKisses · 16/04/2019 20:39

What about Doc Martens?

www.drmartens.com/uk/en_gb/p/23092001

I've picked the least DM looking ones because I remember what my strict on uniform school was like! But there are plenty of black lace ups there to choose from... Possibly just a bit pricey for growing feet though.

Rowgtfc72 · 16/04/2019 21:39

We've found shoe zone 9s are more an 8. We already have the first pair in an 8, the 9 wasn't much bigger.

Never thought to look in next. Shame they only do up to a nine. Forward planning and all that!

Dd loves doc marten boots (would love a patterned pair but can't get them in a nine!). She's not a huge fan of the shoes though. That's what I wanted to get her but will maybe wait and see if her feet will slow down a bit. She calls them clown shoes.

Clarks measured her feet for me. I didn't realise anyone measured children after a size six. All they could offer me in a 9 was a patent pair of black pointy toed shoes. School would have a fit.

Will have to give long tall Sally a look as she is 5ft 8 and all body as well as having big feet.

Must admit I did have a glance at plain black mens shoes in desperationBlush

Thanks for the excellent ideas though. Appreciated.

Clarks have more online

Doonhame · 16/04/2019 22:02

Sorry to jump on the thread but can I ask what height she is? My dd has just turned 10 and not sure she’ll be a 6 much longer, she’s 5ft 2 so wondering height:feet ratio out of curiosity!

Doonhame · 16/04/2019 22:03

Sorry just saw the last part of your last update - ignore!

Littleduckeggblue · 16/04/2019 22:09

Try hotters

yellowsun · 16/04/2019 23:28

Clarks have lots more online in a 9, as do Next.

staydazzling · 16/04/2019 23:30

aw big hugs to your DD I was the same, I've been to Evans for many years still buy from there.

Synecdoche · 16/04/2019 23:32

Hotter or Lands End do good quality 9s. There is some old fashioned stuff in there yes, but there are actually some really nice and neutral styles in there as well. I live in black hotter lace ups for my work shoes.

Lumene · 16/04/2019 23:46

Magnus
Long Tall Sally
Crispins (vvv expensive but worth checking sales).

DM boots with roses on come in size 9 they may do others too.

Trip to London to Chiltern Street she could go to all three of the above shoe stores and try on various styles to see best fit.

Lumene · 16/04/2019 23:47

Russell and Bromley also have 9s but only seem to bring them out in the sales.

Pythonesque · 16/04/2019 23:48

When my eldest started CCF and needed cadet boots, I discovered that cadets suppliers also do parade shoes - ie, standard black laceups, at good prices. My son (size 11 feet as he turned 12) has had two pairs so far and we are very happy with them. They seemed to come up large, at least in the mens sizes.

Looking up briefly I see
www.cadetdirect.com/bulling-polish-cadet-socks/cadet-boots-shoes/shoes/british-forces-style-brogue-shoe-black
which appear to be unisex
and
www.cadetdirect.com/bulling-polish-cadet-socks/cadet-boots-shoes/shoes/ladies-paradeservice-shoe-size-6

Not as cheap as I recalled getting my son's. But they should last. So then you come up against the question of whether your daughter's feet have stopped growing. At 12 I'd be tempted to take a punt on that, feet grow (and stop) a bit earlier than the rest of you. My daughter grew early and I don't think we've changed her shoe size since she was just 11, maybe earlier than that even.

Hope this suggestion helps, if not now then certainly if her feet do grow bigger than 9. As a wearer of 9s myself I know how limited the ranges can be at this size.

Lumene · 16/04/2019 23:48

R&B only do some styles in the 9 though.

You might also want to join her up to the tall club (assuming she is also tall). They will have lots of info about stockists etc for tall girl sized clothing.

Lwmommy · 16/04/2019 23:51

Plus size stores are usually a good shout, try evans or yours clothing

Pythonesque · 16/04/2019 23:53

Looked a bit further and found this on a different site.
