Spent two hours on Sunday looking for a pair of black lace up shoes which would keep the school happy and be something dd would be willing to wear. Found three pairs in the whole of our town centre.
Can anyone suggest a website where I can find nice shoes/ boots in a size nine or a ten as she is growing at a rate of knots and isn't showing any signs of stopping!
School uniform is very strict and she tends to spend most of her time at home in mens trainers.

Don't feel odd about buying boys /mens shoes! My size 6 DD chose boys school shoes because she wanted something plain, laces up and covers most of her foot. She's been pleased with her Clarks boys shoes and couldn't care less that they were marketed as boys footwear...

JaneR0chester · 17/04/2019 10:38

Especially as your DD already wears mens trainers at home...

Clark's. They have 5 styles of teenage girls school shoes in a 9. Failing that, they also have ladies shoes in a 9, but they are much more expensive.

BikeRunSki · 17/04/2019 16:04

I have size 9 feet, have had since I was 12.
Clark’s and Hotter do a proper 9 on the high street. Clark’s have a lot more online. They do black brogues most of the time.,Next is hit and miss. Asda too. Fly London boots (but not shoes) sometimes do a 9/proper 43.

Long Tall Sally shoes are awful quality.

Crispin, After Eight and Cinderella shoes are all outsize women’s. Lands End are in US sizes, but go to a UK10 in some styles.

Fitflop go up to a proper 9 too.

Galaxyfarfaraway · 17/04/2019 16:28

Long tall sally but agree quality is not fab.
DD has just gone overy to Doc Martens. V expensive but they do last forever.
She resisted as she is 5ft 10inches and still growing and a size 10 and said they make her look like a clown but I told her to 'own it' as she can hardly do anything about it. 😀😀

Would she get away with Converse black leather lace ups? They're pretty unisex, my DD and DS both used for school.

Rowgtfc72 · 17/04/2019 18:17

Black leather converse would be a detention and isolation unfortunately. Shame as dd loves them.
Will have a look at all the other suggestions. At the minute she just wears trainers and school shoes. She's 12 so time will come when she wants shoes and boots for going out.

To the poster that says she should own it-I very much agree. She's was only 12 in March. She has a proper woman's figure, long auburn hair and a very quick mouth. Shes 5ft 8. She is hardly in a position to hide her light under a bushel 😆

Are they allowed kickers shoes or boots? Dd's school doesn't allow trainers, canvas or other boots but they approve of kickers as they are hard wearing. The men and women's ones are exactly the same as far as i can tell and you'd definitely get the size you wanted. They are extremely popular at dc's comp

PS. Dd's were 59.99 in Sole Trader

Asos, new look and Nine West also do size 9s (tall sister)

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 18/04/2019 17:30

I feel for your DD. I only 5 ft 8 but I have size 11 feet. I was in a size 8 before I left primary school.

It depends if her feet are just long or if they are wide as well. Some shops do 9s now as well as the catalogues. If she has wide feet as well it is much harder.

Long tall sally is good for one and Evans for another. I spent much of my life wearing men's shoes until I found Evans. That was the first time I found a heeled shoe I could actually wear and although you may pay more, they aren't too bad if they are on sale.

Like most high street shops, their shoes are not built to last for that long.

I wear black shoes for work and have Doc Marten shoes. The original styles are not too blokey and last really well (usually mine wear out within 6-12 months, these are 2 years strong), but probably on the expensive side if her feet are still growing and she grows out of them.

Chicinwellies · 19/04/2019 07:36

Really useful OP. My dd is 11 and also size 9.

chaplin1409 · 19/04/2019 07:38

My daughter is 12 and has size 9 feet as well. It's hard going. For school she has black leather converse.

JenniferJareau · 19/04/2019 07:42

I don't know if they will have anything suitable for school, but JD Williams do 9's and 9+ www.jdwilliams.co.uk/

Rowgtfc72 · 22/04/2019 19:32

Thanks ever so much for all your suggestions. I've made a note of them all as dd is a fussy sod and at 12 definitely still growing.
Got to admit our favourites are the converse but not worth going into isolation for unfortunately.

Agree some DM shoes can look clownish but check out the Dante Brando. Proper shoe but I think a similar style to converse. They seem to come up big too, I usually wear an 8 but ended up with a 7.

Longdistance · 22/04/2019 23:24

Have you tried Deichmann’s? They even do size 10 in ladies shoes in some styles.

Rowgtfc72 · 23/04/2019 20:21

Lady in Deichmanns could only produce one pair of black lace ups. Dd didn't like them unfortunately!
