Help me on my neverending quest for the perfect red lipstick!

I have tried so many red lipsticks over the years but they either bleed, flake, fade really quickly or dry my lips out.

Hit me with your recommendations for red lipsticks that don't do any of the above please...if such a thing exists!

No7 lipsticks are great. Visit a counter and get colour matched. Revlon also v good

I have a really good one from maybeline far better than my 20-£30.00 lippies I had in the past.

I have a maybelline one that is fab! Also like the Kate Moss lipsticks in the range. I have a lovely coral red shade that suits my very pale skin tone.

Kate Moss for Rimmel London, no1 shade. Great texture, coverage and colour.

Bobbie brown do a fab Matt red.
Best glossy red I’ve found is Rimmel weirdly.

This is a Kate Moss lipstick. Its my go to, isn't drying and stays put very well, no bleed. Although I do use a liner first.

Benefit do one in a little black palette - I can’t remember what it’s called but I finally found my forever red after years of trying!

I like the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution in Red Carpet Red.

Less drying than Mac's Matte Ruby Woo although less staying power.

I really like Kat Von D’s Liquid lipstick in Outlaw. It does not budge. I do wear a lip balm underneath. It’s really gorgeous.
I also like Mac’s Russian red and mac’s ruby woo.

I've tried the Mac and Charlotte Tilbury and both seem to really dry my lips out unfortunately. Have never tried any of the Rimmel Kate Moss lipsticks, will definitely check those and the Kat Von D one out. Those who recommended Maybelline, any idea what it was called?

Will have to have a look out for this. I do like Benefit but find you don't get much product for your money.

What shade is that shortandsweet96?

The nars velvet crayon ones are my favourite. I have dragon girl and cruella. Dragon girl is a more bright/ true red and dragon girl is a deeper shade but both are beautiful. I've eaten burgers with them on and they don't end up all over my face.

I will double check for you in the morning, its currently hiding in my every day handbag in the car. I own so many lipsticks in every colour I no longer look at the name of the shade until I rebuy..

Thanks @Shortandsweet96 my skin tone is similar to yours and I love that shade.

Also love the Nara crayons - my favourite red in those is Consuming Red. Icon Pop from Clinique is also nice and non drying.

I've never used a lip liner, maybe this is where I'm going wrong? Excuse my ignorance but would you need to buy a different liner for every shade of lipstick?

If you use a lip crayon like the NARS, you dont need a liner.

Avon are surprisingly good. I got a sample pack on ebay that included 3 fab reds, total bargain. One day I'll fork out for the full size ones!

You need 4 liners in your collection if you wear a range of lipsticks:

a red
a pink
a neutral
a brown

MAC Lady Danger is far less drying than Ruby Woo. Bobbi Brown also do good reds.

The only red lipstick I can get on with is Revlon Red by Revlon. It's nice and creamy but if you apply carefully and blot in between it lasts really well. Lovely colour as well.

Ruby Woo is a beautiful colour but I have given up on it as its just so drying.
