Gorgeous, elegant yet comfortable pyjamas

Yes, that might be a very tall order!

Let me give some background. I am in my 60s and love fashion, but have a set of chronic health issues that mean I am almost totally bedridden. In recent years, since I was forced to retire, I have accumulated a nice wardrobe of clothing and lovely colourful accessories, but now find that I hardly ever wear my clothes as I am in bed so much!

My current pyjamas are very old and tatty, bought mainly from supermarkets (they were Ok when new). So, I would like to divert my money into nicer things to wear in bed and those few occasions that I can get downstairs. It would be nice for my DH to see me in something better!

I have added a lot of weight recently and most of it is around my middle. My size is 14 to 16 and I am 5ft 4in. I love colour and need comfort.

Please help me with ideas, I would be so grateful as it would really help my confidence if I could look a bit nicer (DH is lovely btw and compliments me often). I will pop back to this thread as often as I can, but please bear in mind that I am very ill and may not be able to answer posts very quickly.

TheQueef yes, they have some lovely things. I already have a kimono jacket, but hadn’t thought of getting more to use in bed. Thank you so much.

Toast do lovely ones...

LBOCS2 · 14/04/2019 12:10

His Nibs ones are nice too.

LBOCS2 · 14/04/2019 12:10

Their Nibs. Not his. Sorry!

margaritasbythesea · 14/04/2019 13:19

I had forgotten how lovely Toast pyjamas are!

OP, I find that there is often a difference between something very comfortable that I could wear round the house during the day and comfortable pyjamas to sleep in. The is mainly because I hate pyjama trouser cuffs riding up and most stylish pyjamas tend to be the loos leg ones.

At the moment I wear supermarket pyjamas with a cuff at night, like you, because they don´t ride up my legs, and then these M and S trousers and a black cotton tshirt during the day. They are smart enough to answer the door in, even go out in, but can also fall asleep. Not quite what you asked for, but thought it might be an option for you.

GurlwiththeCurl · 14/04/2019 20:37

Thank you all for your suggestions, however, I can’t find any pyjamas by Toast. Any ideas who stocks them?

margaritasbythesea those M and S trousers look nice. Thanks for the idea!

White Company?

Hecateh · 14/04/2019 20:52

I'm not sure if you want to spend a lot or would be happy with inexpensive ones if they are nice.
I have just got some great ones from Asda. I am a similar age

Processedpea · 14/04/2019 20:54

I wear quite a lot of toast nightwear on holidays. Comfy!

gubbsywubbsy · 14/04/2019 21:00

Hush have lovely pyjamas

Luaa · 14/04/2019 21:02

Not helpful to OP, but would those 100 stars kimonos be suitable for day wear? I love some of them!

margaritasbythesea · 14/04/2019 21:16

Luaa I have a short one that I wear as a jacket. They're quite thin so less suited for the house really. Lovely though.

Applescoop · 14/04/2019 21:20

Cyberjammies are nice too.

Sorry to hear your health isn't tip top.

championquartz · 14/04/2019 21:33

Princess Tam Tam used to do some nice ones - although it’s a while since I bought any.

My friend bought some good cotton pjs from Cos.

Alamindah · 14/04/2019 21:53

Anthropologie - I smile every time I put mine on. Lovely prints and very comfy

championquartz · 14/04/2019 21:54

Or if you’re feeling generous, net-a-porter’s nightwear is here
I can’t vouch for any of it tho. Ever so slightly out of my budget. Doesn’t stop me looking!

GurlwiththeCurl · 14/04/2019 22:08

Wow! Thanks for all of the posts! I will take my time to explore your ideas in the morning.

Luaa I have one of the kimono jackets and I wore it last summer with linen trousers and a white vest. The material is very thin, but that was fine for a hot day.
