I've found the holy grail of foundations!

Just bought the No 7 Hydroluminous Moisturising Foundation, and it is amazing!

I have large pores which normal foundation just sits in and accentuates. I also have very red uneven skin tone. I have been using the No 7 Skylight tinted moisturiser, but found coverage not good enough to even out skin tone. But this new one is just ticking all the boxes and I am so pleased!

Just thought I’d share in case anyone else struggles to find a decent foundation for their skin. I didn’t even use a primer and I’m so pleased with results!

I found it too heavy and more flat than luminous. I tried it when they were trialling it.

It is difficult to find a good foundation!

MaryBoBary · 12/04/2019 19:06

I know, they are all different on everyone. I read a few reviews after I bought it and before I tried it that made me a bit nervous, but I was so impressed with results.

Yes, me too! I started a thread on this foundation when it first came out. I've been asked a number of times in real life since I started using it what foundation I'm wearing.

f83mx · 12/04/2019 20:15

Thanks - will give it a try when current one finished - as also suffering with pores :o(

ILoveMaxiBondi · 12/04/2019 20:17

Thanks OP I’m in the market for a new foundation.

Starburst8 · 12/04/2019 20:20

OP is this foundation any good for dry skin too?
I'm forever trying to find a good one to cover uneven skin tone and one that doesn't dry my skin out as I'm prone to dry patches.

nzeire · 12/04/2019 20:22

I LOVE cracking into a new foundation!

OldAndWornOut · 12/04/2019 20:24

I'm due a new foundation.
I'll give it a try, I think. Smile

TapasForTwo · 12/04/2019 20:24

I bought some after seeing recommended on here. It is heavy, but it looks fabulous on my (combination) skin. It is the best colour match I have. I wish their Intelligent Colour was available in a lighter shade.

bobloblawlawblog · 12/04/2019 20:25

It is lovely. They give pretty generous sized samples too so worth a try!

Pharlapwasthebest · 12/04/2019 20:37

No 7 test on animals, so it’s a no go for me.
So many good products out there which aren’t.

LynetteScavo · 12/04/2019 20:38

OK - I will buy this tomorrow and report back. My shade is sold out online- so hopefully I'll get it on store.

Nuffaluff · 12/04/2019 20:43

I bought this the other day and I also like it. Much better and cheaper than my old Clinique one (although that’s probably because I’m older now and need a bit more coverage plus I think I’ve hit on the exact right shade).
It’s got good coverage, but it isn’t heavy and it’s quite moisturising. I also feel that I don’t really need anything else when I’ve put it on, so no concealer or powder.

Loubyloulou88 · 12/04/2019 20:48

This is on my list to try! And I've just read up on their animal testing policy, if you take a look at their FAQ's they state that they do not test and do not sell directly into Chinese stores so also do not have to test to access that market. Something I wasn't aware of!

MaryBoBary · 12/04/2019 20:53

I don’t have particularly dry skin, but I moisturised first, then applied with a beauty blender and it didn’t cling to a dry patch I have currently on my chin. Perhaps if you were to apply with fingers it might go cakey - I don’t know but dabbing in with the sponge worked really well. I have sometimes wondered if the dabbing makes my pores look worse but apparently it’s all in the foundation! I even used a setting powder over the top (which also usually sits in my pores) and it is sitting so nicely. Can’t stop looking in the mirror Grin

I'm pretty sure they don't. It's illegal in the EU.

TapasForTwo · 12/04/2019 21:04

Just checked. Boots no 7 isn't tested on animals.

Bluntness100 · 12/04/2019 21:09

That's highly unlikely, not just due to legislation, but because pretty much every single ingredient you could ever use has already been certified as safe. It's very unlikely they will be breaking rhe law and trying out new ons,

I think I'd check that out if I was you.

Pharlapwasthebest · 12/04/2019 21:12

Omg, I actually love you all! You are right. Last time I checked it was not clear, but now it is-hooray!

KooMoo · 12/04/2019 21:19

Do you mind me askin* how old you are?

If you early 20s or 30s I don’t think the formula will be as suitable for coming up to 60.

Pharlapwasthebest · 12/04/2019 21:20

I would add, that the big companies I.e. L’Oréal do still test as they sell in China.

MaryBoBary · 12/04/2019 21:22

I am 29. I don’t have fine lines and wrinkles but my general skin texture is awful, and very oily T zone.

I am a convert too! It makes my skin look glorious and I have terrible skin. And it’s such a reasonable price for what it is. I love it.

Middledistancerunner · 12/04/2019 21:28

No 7 test on animals
Well sort of? As I understand it they don’t in the EU, but it’s a legal requirement to test on animals if you sell in China. As they were looking to expand into the Chinese market so they couldn’t stick a label on saying they are cruelty free.
I don’t know if they have gone into the Chinese market though?

BitOfFun · 12/04/2019 21:29

From what I understand, the companies large enough to sell in China don't test on animals, but the Chinese government commission independent tests before the products are allowed to be sold there. It's a small distinction perhaps (and people can obviously choose whether to buy from particular cosmetics companies or not), but it makes a difference to where to direct your lobbying efforts, I think.

I'm happy to be corrected if my information is out of date.
