I've found the holy grail of foundations!

Just bought the No 7 Hydroluminous Moisturising Foundation, and it is amazing!

I have large pores which normal foundation just sits in and accentuates. I also have very red uneven skin tone. I have been using the No 7 Skylight tinted moisturiser, but found coverage not good enough to even out skin tone. But this new one is just ticking all the boxes and I am so pleased!

Just thought I’d share in case anyone else struggles to find a decent foundation for their skin. I didn’t even use a primer and I’m so pleased with results!

Possibly some good news?

Pharlapwasthebest · 12/04/2019 21:37

Op. I realise I have de-railed your thread. Apologies.

Ofthread · 12/04/2019 21:41

Nope, I've found the holy grail. It's the Revolution Pro Drops one!

Middledistancerunner · 12/04/2019 21:41

@BitofFun
That’s really interesting and helpful - thank you.

Sorry OP, didn’t mean to join in on taking your thread of course.
FWIW I also use this foundation and think it’s really quite good Grin

BitOfFun · 12/04/2019 21:41

I'm sorry too!

I'll definitely check the foundation out when I'm in Boots next. I've not got one at all at the moment.

Artyfarty555 · 12/04/2019 21:43

Can l ask what is the best way to apply this foundation. I have it but dont think I do it justice as l smear a small amount on with my finger tips. I keep seeing those little sponges .are they any good? Thanks

dementedma · 12/04/2019 21:45

A little sponge wedge thingy gives much better coverage than fingers I find.

Fruityfruitcake · 12/04/2019 21:48

I absolutely love it too, gives such a lovely glowy coverage.

MaryBoBary · 12/04/2019 21:49

No need to apologise, I’m glad it isn’t tested on animals!

I used a beauty blender (the little round sponges). I wet it under a warm tap, squeeze it out so it’s just damp, not wet, and then use it to lightly dab all over. There will be 100s of YouTube videos if you’re not sure how to use them. I find them best for my skin type, and less likely to be streaky or uneven than with my fingers or a brush.

KooMoo I'm 60 and it looks fabulous on me.

KooMoo · 12/04/2019 21:58

Thank you Tapasfortwo . I will go and check it out next time I’m in Boots.

SkyBillingIssue · 12/04/2019 22:00

But if they sell in mainland China - where it's illegal NOT to test on animals - then they're not cruelty free

Chicinwellies · 12/04/2019 22:10

Is it suitable for combination skin - i get a very shiney T zone, but am in my 40s.

MaryBoBary · 12/04/2019 22:20

@Chicinwellies I have this problem too. I used a bit of powder over the top on t zone and it all lasted well together. Haven’t tried it without any powder but it says it has some powder in the liquid to prevent shine. I only used a tiny bit of powder.

I've been using this for the past couple of weeks and I like it, I've got oily skin and it seems to stay put, I do use a primer also. I would normally use either a real techniques brush or blender but I've been using my fingers, not sure why as I never do with foundation but it's been fine, sometimes I go over certain areas with the blender if I feel it's needed but normally don't feel the need

I have been using IT cosmetics which is £30 but I got this for a tenner and it's just as good.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 12/04/2019 22:28

Is it fragranced, OP?

MaryBoBary · 12/04/2019 22:30

I’ve just had a sniff of the tube and no, I don’t think it’s fragranced but I am still getting over a cold so not sure if my sense of smell is 100%. I definitely didn’t notice a smell when applying it earlier.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 12/04/2019 22:34

Thanks for checking, OP! My eyes react to anything slightly perfumed 🙄 so usually it’s £££ foundations for me that have no fragrance added. Will try this out then!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 12/04/2019 22:37

I really like the hydraluminous skin care , I wasn't totally blown away by the foundation,it was ok,I won't buy it again but I'll use it up.

fishonabicycle · 13/04/2019 12:39

I've got a small tester pot of Hydraluminous and am really pleased with it - doesn't dry my (already dry)skin and can dial the coverage up or down. Looks pretty good I think. The colour match (done with a scanner thingy) seemed to work well (and agreed with the shade I had already thought might be good for me). Will probably buy a full tube unless I start getting spotty!

dontgobaconmyheart · 13/04/2019 12:49

Oh I've got this but think it's a bit meh, I'll use it up (mixed with something a bit better) and it's nice enough but I think it gives a bit of a weird sheen/finish and settles in lines like you've powdered on top of a liquid (and i barely have any).

I'd use it alone on a good skin day basically, but not otherwise. I have a bottle of boots CYO life proof foundation which easily beats it for the price and feels far nicer on the skin.

Artyfarty555 · 13/04/2019 14:32

Thanks for replys about what to put it on with. Does it matter if its a cheap primark sponge applicator? Or would l be better buying a more expensive one?

MaryBoBary · 13/04/2019 15:11

Arty I don’t think it would make much difference to be honest. I use a mid range one. Just make sure it’s damp, don’t use it dry, and wash out after use and leave it to air dry.

ScrambledSmegs · 13/04/2019 16:13

I like it but I have to moisturise really well and apply it quite sparingly with fingers otherwise the coverage is too heavy for me.

Basically I like a lighter foundation. It looks great when it's on though and wears really well, better than pretty much any other high st foundation I've tried.
