White trainers for skirts/dresses?

SlipperOrchid · 12/04/2019 17:51

This has probably been asked shy dred times but can people please recommend white trainers that I can wear with dresses and skirts?

I have adidas but not in white. I tried Nike but they are too sporty looking for what I want. I have worn converse for twenty years but converse don’t feel right with skirts, but they are too ‘big’ looking. I’m looking for something relatively neat so the trainers are not clumpy looking.

Can anyone please help?

I've just ordered some white Adidas samba roses to wear with skirts.

EleanorOalike · 12/04/2019 17:56

Superga’s or Vans can be incredibly dainty.

1Wanda1 · 12/04/2019 17:56

Superga?

margaritasbythesea · 12/04/2019 18:01

I wear cheapie Dunlops so I can chuck them in the machine and replace without too much cost when necessary.

margaritasbythesea · 12/04/2019 18:02

P. S. The Superga I bought last year said they were machine washable but the binding went the second time I washed them.

I have white faux leather converse with rose gold eyelets. I'm a size 3 so they look very neat.

Terramirabilis · 12/04/2019 18:14

Adidas Sleek

BabyDarlingDollfaceHoney · 12/04/2019 19:00

Yep came here to say superga. I also just bought a really nice pair from Kurt Geiger, white with rainbow stripes on the sides. I'm looking forward to wearing them with skirts as soon as it warms up.

I know you mentioned converse looking too big; but I bought a new style and absolutely love them; really classic looking and goes with pretty much everything. They are white leather and just look fab; would recommend trying them on as they look better IRL.

PS I agree Supergas don't wash or wear particularly well but I like the way they look so much that I keep buying them. I've just bought a white leather pair which I'm hoping will wear a bit better as I can wipe them when grubby as opposed to ruining them in the washing machine.

None unless you’re 15

LunaFortuna · 12/04/2019 19:10

Vans Lo Pro - not as heavy as the regular ones.

notsomumsymum · 12/04/2019 19:10

@joandarc LOVE those converse!

EleanorOalike · 12/04/2019 19:15

Those Converses are gorgeous, they are going on my wish list!

JoanDarc · 12/04/2019 19:20

thank you! I love them - I've got relatively big feet so self conscious about all white trainers but they look fab on; currently wearing them with skinny joggers and they just pull an outfit together!

WatchingTheWheels85 · 12/04/2019 19:53

I love those converse I wonder if they do a synthetic leather version.
I wear all different coloured converse with dresses and tights. Today I had a black satin pair on.

Sexnotgender · 12/04/2019 19:54

I've got slim white converse that I wore for my wedding ceilidh under my dress.

SlipperOrchid · 12/04/2019 20:21

Thank you everyone.

I’m not a big fan of the frill cutout linked converse. I can see why people like them but they are not for me as I prefer simple clean straight lines.

I bought Superga last year and returned them as I felt they looked prissy. But last year I didn’t want to wear them with dresses so they might be exactly what I’m looking for now. It is disappointing to read they don’t wash well though.

I’m reluctant to buy all leather trainers as I have (white) leather converse and they are too heavy for warm weather.

I must have a look at the Dunlop ones.

I follow somebody on Istagram (can’t remember who though) who found a pair of white trainers this week. She bought them on ASOS and they were Nike as far as I remember but I can’t find anything that resembles them on the ASOS site.

I buy most of my clothes online but dislike buying shoes online as my feet and ankles aren’t particularly nice looking and I find so many shoes uncomfortable.

margaritasbythesea · 12/04/2019 20:38

These are the Dunlop ones if anyone is interested. Nothing amazing but fine and cheap

DoubtOfTheOrdinary · 12/04/2019 20:42

Might be stretching the understanding of 'trainers' but I wear white or grey Toms with skirts. I think they have quite clean lines, and they're super comfy. Not tried washing them but have spot cleaned with stain remover and that's worked well.

Lollyice · 12/04/2019 20:46

Have just been looking at Veja trainers, they are organic, fair trade and a bit less sporty looking than Adidas.

nancy75 · 12/04/2019 20:46

In proper summer I wear white lace up plimsoles from primark! They are about £3 and really summery looking. Otherwise I have Adidas court vantage in all white or white converse

nancy75 · 12/04/2019 20:48

Veja look nice but I found them really hard & uncomfortable when I tried them on

ASauvignonADay · 12/04/2019 20:55
