White trainers for skirts/dresses?

This has probably been asked shy dred times but can people please recommend white trainers that I can wear with dresses and skirts?

I have adidas but not in white. I tried Nike but they are too sporty looking for what I want. I have worn converse for twenty years but converse don’t feel right with skirts, but they are too ‘big’ looking. I’m looking for something relatively neat so the trainers are not clumpy looking.

Can anyone please help?

Depends what sort of skirt. Pleated skirts are, and always have been, one of fashion's top high risk items. They enlarge the bottom and shorten the leg.

Accordingly, you want a touch of clump around the sole to stop the danger of Dumpy Librarian, a clear risk. Anything that bumps up your leg length and adds a bit of width to balance the arse will help.

You can also go for mega-clump all over, which is v this season - no comment. But never brogues, which really are too near the knuckle.

I like Adidas Stan Smiths. What size are you OP? Kids go up to a 5.5. I fall between a 3 and a 4 and got a 3.5 in the kids ones. They look the exact same as the adults except they were £45 and the adult ones are £75!

I'm 5.5 and really like the Reebok ones but.......I'm being incredibly and annoyingly fussy.....I want plain white without any strips of colour. I need them to fit with everything. I don't care about a brand name being visible but not if its in a different colour..............

Def Adidas Stan Smiths

SlipperOrchid · 12/04/2019 22:37

Are the Stan Smiths 'plastic' looking? I'm veering towards the Superga but not if they will get ruined quickly?

I love the Fred Perry trainers - I think they look more dainty because they come down lower on the toes.

MsSquiz · 12/04/2019 22:46

I never wear trainers, I live in heels, but DH told me to try these Vans when I decided to start wearing trainers more.

I got them 3 weeks ago and I've barely had them off my feet when out of the house!

Stan Smiths.
I like those Dunlops, are they comfy margarita?

Summerdiamond · 12/04/2019 22:47

Another vote for Stan Smith here, love mine, versatile, wear with jeans, shorts, dresses, skirts - anything.

ASauvignonADay · 12/04/2019 22:56

@SlipperOrchid I think they do plain white ones (they used to - mine are totally plain white!), might be worth looking around their site. I wear mine with skirts/dresses/jeans of all colours and they always look great and get compliments ☺️

Betty777 · 12/04/2019 23:38

I love vans with skirts

If you can bear wearing leather, there are some completely plain nice white leather trainers at Cos at the moment, very minimalist and £89 I think.

(I realised I felt like a nurse, so may stick to my adidas)

I have Palladium Unisex Adults' Pampa Ox Orig U Trainers these in a lovely peachy pink [almost nude] They are very neutral and look great with everything.

Ellapaella · 13/04/2019 08:21

I have these https://www.hush-uk.com/footwear2/footwear/trainers/henleycanvastrainerswhite.htm
They look good with dresses and skirts - I have quite wide feet and chunky ankles so can struggle a bit to find flattering trainers for bare legs but these look good.

Ellapaella · 13/04/2019 08:23

On my feet below:

White chunky trainers are meant to be the thing this summer but I really don't find them flattering on me. Look great on some people though, I think the idea is that chunky trainers are meant to add more balance to the leg and give a slimming effect.

In the summer I wear Veja Esplars, Stan Smiths or Superga. All go well with dresses.

margaritasbythesea · 13/04/2019 08:42

Cocolapew - the Dunlops are quite like converse in terms of comfort but wider and a bit heavier.

Cocolapew · 13/04/2019 08:52

Thank you Smile

Hoppinggreen · 13/04/2019 08:56

Ive got some white leather slip on ones from French connection.
I had them last year and wore them to death, so comfy. They are looking a bit grotty now but I’m going to keep them and wear this years slightly updated version for a bit smarter
I find converse set off my PF

CountFosco · 13/04/2019 14:46

What about Novestas? Or Vejas are everywhere at the moment.

SlipperOrchid · 13/04/2019 15:18

I don’t like Vejss and can’t see their appeal at all but really like the Novestas!!! But not for dresses/skirts...

I got a great pair from Primark for £8! They're perfect for wearing with skirts and dresses and so comfy.
