Will Kate emerge from her Norfolk seclusion sporting a bigger than ever Alice band? Will the Mail and Express stories about Meghan get more ludicrous by the day? And will this thread see the arrival of Baby Sussex? All will be revealed in due course...

“The women are like Fairy Tale archetypes.“

All women are judged like this to a greater or lesser degree. Madonna/whore. Angel/devil. mil/dil. wife/other woman. Feminist/womanly woman. Always a dichotomy if archetypes.

brizzlemint · 21/04/2019 19:02

Harry is hardly a business success or heavyweight intellectual.

He doesn't need to be.

noodlenosefraggle · 21/04/2019 19:10

I agree with you Ida. The abuse is out of control. To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if part of the reason they are keeping the birth quiet is because they are tired of the relentless bitching, awful headlines all the time, not to mention the threats against the baby from the lunatic fringe of Twitter. Its all about MM, none about Harry. She has been pregnant for most of her marriage and people are happy to spend their time abusing a pregnant woman constantly for all manner of perceived slights against the RF including wearing a slightly off the shoulder dress, not wearing tights, crossing her legs wrong etc. Frankly, all they are doing is proving how irrelevant the Royals are. If they really have so much time on their hands that they manage to get frothy over a pair of tights, then they are utterly pointless as an institution. And as for the Fake parsimony, at least she's not pretending to be down with the poor people by wearing a designer dress twice when they are rich beyond most people's wildest dreams, in return for some hand shaking at an old people's home a couple of times a week.

mrscampbellblackagain · 21/04/2019 19:10

Well actually I think he does need to be now. To hold a 'big role' in today's society it sort of needs need to be down to ability in some part.

mrscampbellblackagain · 21/04/2019 19:14

I really think we will see the end of the RF in the next few years. I mean personally I would curtsey for the Queen but there is no way I would for any of the others. Would any of you for William/Harry etc?

Paradyning · 21/04/2019 19:18

@mrscampbellblackagain
lots of snide comments about Kate and her children.
I have seen no snide comments about any children. Nor Kate really. I dislike the way she dresses & think it's a bit Emperor's new clothes sometimes but am not snide. Nor do I think anyone else is so interested to see how you think this. Can you quote a pp?

brizzlemint · 21/04/2019 19:18

No, I wouldn't curtsey. I'm just as good as they are and they haven't done anything other than been born into a particular family to get what they have today.

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/04/2019 19:23

@Paradyning Maybe it was the comment about Louis being the Pub Landlord but that was clearly a joke, as he looked a bit of a bruiser in Charles' birthday photos!

Mrs Campbell I'm not sure why you think M married down. She's a B list actress . He's a Prince. She's no intellectual heavyweight herself.

Paradyning · 21/04/2019 19:32

He totally does have the pub landlord look there! Clearly a joke!

queenofarles · 21/04/2019 19:34

parayding
The twitter thread linked on here ,from a virtually unknown American writer about the real reason of Kate and Rose fallout? Some Posters on here were very interested in that discussion. You can check that out.

pinkladyapples · 21/04/2019 19:45

The British royals all look great today. Love Beatrice's outfit.

Here's the Spanish royals today.

Butterymuffin · 21/04/2019 19:49

There have been lots of posts lately saying that these days Kate gets an easy ride compared to Meghan, which is not the same as being snide about Kate. It's generally also acknowledged that Kate has had her share of press hostility in the past.

Paradyning · 21/04/2019 19:50

I don't think I need to check that out Arles. I posted it!

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/04/2019 19:53

She has @Butterymuffin but I don't think "doors to manual" and "wisteria sisters" can compare to the racism and sexism evident in a lot of the coverage Meghan gets from the press.

AFifthOfKoolAid · 21/04/2019 19:57

There have been some fairly mean spirited and bitchy comments about Kate's weight but nothing in the league of what people say about Meghan.

I have not seen any horrible comments about the children, I'd hope they'd be deleted!

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/04/2019 19:58

I don't remember anyone being snide about Kate re that Twitter thread. If anything it was William who came out of it looking the worst!

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 21/04/2019 20:02

Yes I remember those comments @AFifthOfKoolAid but though I don't want to be the thread police, I did say bitching about her weight was not on! Tbh there was one poster quite obsessed with it who seems to have disappeared.

queenofarles · 21/04/2019 20:03

Well parayding I don’t think the comments that followed were that pleasant. Smile
We still don’t know if it’s true or not, but the tone depicted on here was kinda pleased that there is a hint of a scandal going on.

Butterymuffin · 21/04/2019 20:04

Oh I agree Queen. Meghan has had a really terrible time. Did anyone read the story done by a Sky journalist about the deliberate trolling of Meghan? I can link it if people haven't and are interested.

noodlenosefraggle · 21/04/2019 20:13

Mrscampbell I got the v feeling when George was born that he wouldn't be King. I suspect we'll be a Republic by then. I doubt Will will be King of Australia. I think after The Queen dies and her generation dies, the monarchy will be seen as an anachronism. I'm a hypocrite because I love them on an emotional level but on an objective level, how long can we continue with this? If we had an elected non political Head of State, for a start they could have banged some heads together over Brexit. Having a constitutional monarch as Head of State has been less than useless during the greatest constitutional crisis in recent years.

yellowalstroemeria · 21/04/2019 20:17

Letizia looks amazing. They've done a great job of keeping the girls young but appropriate- the button details on the back of Sofia's jacket/top are so cute. Leonor's blue is lovely.

Here is Leonor making her first public speech.

Do Leonor and Sofia get their colouring from Queen Sofia? Letizia is so dark.

TyraAllen · 21/04/2019 20:19

Does any country have an elected non-political head of state, who is truly non-political?

noodlenosefraggle · 21/04/2019 20:20

Ireland do, don't they? I don't think they are affiliated to a political party.

Paradyning · 21/04/2019 20:24

Leti and girls do look amazing. So does Sofia.
I think that photo op would have been well managed this year after last year's debacle.
