I'm going to a summer evening event and I need to fucking slay.

I'm average height, size 14 (but on diet) with big boobs. Can't go bra-less. Will wear bare legs with fake tan, and brown leather heeled sandals.

I want full on summer glory. Thinking green background with lush florals. Possibly flouncy. I want to look like a walking summer day. Money no object within reason. Open to short sleeves but not full length.

Any beauties out there?

Dancing leopard and never fully dressed has some beautiful summer dresses :)

Pinkarsedfly I’ve had that Nancy Mac dress on a Pinterest board for ages (with no particular occasion in mind). I’d love to know what it’s like in real life. It would be gorgeous for a wedding.

Pinkarsedfly · 10/04/2019 08:47

BigFatBloomers it’s really lovely - the only doubt I have is more an ‘is it me?’ issue than any doubt about the dress.

I may wear it yet!

Laska2Meryls · 10/04/2019 08:55

Did you see this other Boden Isabelle dress? (greeny/blue though ..)

BigFatBloomers · 10/04/2019 11:50

Pinkarsedfly that's good to hear but trickier for you!

Hello! Thought I'd update this thread now that I have a decision I'm thrilled with.

OK so who remembers the brief? Dress was meant to be:

Green
Floral
Have sleeves
Not be a maxi

So with classic MN contraryness I have now bagged my slaying dress and I can confirm that it is:

Not green
Has no sleeves
Is a maxi

It's the Phase Eight one I pictured up thread and I FREAKING LOVE IT!! I only took it into the changing room to see if I can fit into a size 12 (I can!!) and the moment I dropped it over my shoulders it was love.

The only two sticking points are firstly that it's too long, even with platform sandals, so I'm going to have to have it altered.

Secondly, this appears to be Phase Eights 'flagship dress' this season - its on the front of the catalogue, in the shop windows etc. There will be ca 100 women at this event and I have my fingers crossed none of them have great ideas like mine!

I'm just so, so happy. The dress makes me feel like the perfect cross between a Greek goddess and Margo Leadbetter. It's what we all strive for isn't it?

I'll pop the pic below again, and will put my pic up on the night. The next fortnight will mostly be filled with exfoliation and tricep dips.

Go well, my prettiests.

BTW the print falls differently on each dress. Mine happens to have pink and blue over the bust area which is much better for me (blonde) but my sister says that the yellow elsewhere on the dress absolutely makes it.

Iwannaseehowitends
I absolutely agree with you.
If PW has had an affair he has put Kate in a terrible position, as you wrote.
William saw what infidelity did to his family life. How stupid could he be to do this to his own family unit?
But then again it's in his genes - both sets - look at Earl Spencer, Diana's brother.
Both Diana and her younger brother spoke about how upset they, as small children, were by their father and mothers acrimonious split.
Yet Charles Spencer is on his third marriage and numerous children from the various unions. Sad

Oops wrong thread Blush

beanaseireann · 26/04/2019 14:22

Sincere apologies MorrisZap.
Btw the dress is lovely.

MorrisZapp · 26/04/2019 15:21

That is fab .
We need a new thread ....AIBU to have a definite idea for a dress then change my mind ! Grin

Ifonlyiweretaller · 26/04/2019 21:39

@morriszapp ive so lenjoyed this thread - and i absolutely love your choice of dress! ! i'm on the hunt for a dress for Royal Ascot and have now got a huge list of websites based on all the fab recommendations on your thread, so thank you!
I will be spending the weekend trawling them all for inspiration...

MorrisZapp · 27/04/2019 09:59

Omg Royal Ascot! Will you be wearing headgear? The phase eight catalogue seems to feature dresses not in the shops, definitely check it out.

OP posts:
Ifonlyiweretaller · 27/04/2019 10:39

Yep, headgear too - it's very posh as we're in the Royal Enclosure. I like Phase 8 but their dresses are always way too long for me & a lot of styles lose their shape when they're shortened...
It's actually quite stressful getting the outfit right Smile ( although I shouldn't complain really should I )

bingohandjob · 27/04/2019 10:46

For pretty summery dresses, I'd take a look at:

NHSPension · 27/04/2019 11:00

I am very close to buying the Nancy Mac dress.

MorrisZapp · 13/05/2019 09:29

Ok another update! So the event was on Saturday and it was utterly magical.

I felt like a million, billion dollars! I had totally misunderstood the dress code ('summer party wear') and was wildly overdressed but I didn't care. I swished and sashayed and I actually felt a bit like it was my wedding day :)

The event was on a boat. There was a professional photographer there, he's an absolute dream and I knew him from before. He took loads of pics of me, which I might share later if they're OK.

But here's a wee taste of how it feels to wear a maxi on a boat, I think every girl should try it.

Yay I was so happy to see this update! I saw your thread but never commented and missed the updates - nothing better than a final update about someone who felt GREAT in the outfit. Grin Grin Grin

Beautiful colours, OP.

BloomedAgain · 13/05/2019 13:00

What a great pic OP. This may actually make me wear some colour. I'm only around 5 foot 3, would that maxi swamp me?

MorrisZapp · 13/05/2019 17:28

Thank you so much! I'm 5 foot 3 too and had never considered a maxi. I had to have it professionally shortened and wear platform sandals but I can confirm that yes, we absolutely can wear a maxi!

I plan to wear one at every possible opportunity henceforth.

I will look for the right occasion!
