Has anyone found a good replacement for that fab selenium orange L'Oréal anti dandruff shampoo?

L'Oréal made the BEST shampoo ever ,it was in a dark blue bottle, then they re branded it to Men's anti dandruff shampoo and it was in a black bottle with an orange lid.

Then they discontinued itHmm

I emailed them ages ago and they have no plans to rebrand or replace it.

The fuckers Angry

I bought loads and had a secret hoard that the rest if the family were not allowed to touch but I'm down to my last half a bottle.

Head and Shoulders with argan oil was a good replacement for a bit as was TBS ginger shampoo buyy recently I've been getting flaky/itchy again and I washed my hair this morning with some shampoo from my secret stash and honestly my hair looks and feels fabulous. No flakes, no itch, just nice shiny swishy hair.

I stood in Boots for ages looking at shampoos and have bought some of the Loreal clay stuff but not holding out much hope tbh.

There was also a Boots own make sensitive range with a sensitive scalp lotion as well as shampoo and conditioner, anyone used that?

I could weep, I had a crap scalp for 25 years and L'Oréal was perfect Sad

Any suggestions?

Hello @DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen

Just checking if you had manage to find an alternative to Loreal Intense Anti Dandruff Shampoo. I am on the same boat as you. My last bottle finished in late 2019 and I contacted them and been advised to use the Phytoclear one. However, that is not settling on my skin very well and I have still got itchy/flaky (too flaky sometimes) skin (even after using it now for almost 6 months on/off)

I am now back to trial and error process where I would buy and try it for few weeks before moving onto the another (My latest attempt is the ginger anti dandruff one from Bodyshop).

Luckily, I am working from home so my snowy shoulder is less visible on Zoom but its a matter of time before we might have to start going back to office and dread sitting in meeting with itchy scalp.

I had been using intense one since 2015 and seriously it was a miracle for my skin i.e. almost zero dandruff (and absolute zero flakes) and very disappointed that Loreal had decided to discontinue this product even with such high effectiveness.

Would you mind please sharing any solution that has worked for you since the discontinuation of the Loreal intense one?

Thanks,
Sunny

I use Davine NaturalTech purifying shampoo. It's really expensive and I buy it in 1000ml bottles (£60 Shock). But only need to actually use it every 2 weeks. (Just use a gentle shampoo inbetween) so the bottle lasts me a year!!

Selsun. You can get it on prescription but can also but it over the counter at the chemist. It was out of production but now back on. Magical stuff for your scalp and it’s reassuringly orange in colour.

Head and shoulders cliniical strength was a good replacement for me . There are two types one for scalp and one for dandruff. Its got selium and even same colour. Available in boots, amazon and most supermarkets. Same i think as the bigger blue usa only bottle mentioned earlier in the thread. Used both. Give it a go www.headandshoulders.co.uk/en-gb/shop-products/clinically-proven-shampoo/clinically-proven-solutions-dandruff-shampoo

To be clear its the one for dandruff... not scalp. Scalp one just irritated mine. 🤯

Hi, I think L’Oréal has released the new version. Please see below as it has the same active ingredient Selenium Disulfide and may be the same shampoo but now rebranded in a blue bottle.

I haven’t used it myself yet but will try it out soon.

gaganxs · 04/09/2021 21:00

this is discontinued too. loreal is gone; head and shoulders is gone. what else is out there?

chrisjs · 23/02/2022 18:58

Anyone have any update on this? Seems like the Selsun version which had been available in Lloyd's pharmacy is no longer available either. It is the only product that I have found that works for my scalp!

WrinklesShminkles · 23/02/2022 22:04

Vichy do one, Boots sell it.

Frollop · 24/02/2022 06:32

Vosene

I had to use it a few times for my scalp to get use to it and see results

JDandC · 24/02/2022 10:42

E45 shampoo! My scalp sometimes gets very itchy and flakey, I use the e45 followed by my usually shampoo and conditioner for a day or two, my scalps then fine!

Violet9 · 09/03/2022 10:59

I can't find Selsun in stock anywhere at the moment, does anyone have any idea why it's not available?

It's the only thing that helps my daughter's seborrheic dermatitis (nizoral stopped working, coal tar shampoos don't help and standard dandruff shampoos do nothing)

The Gp's prescribed a steroid lotion to apply to the scalp but it's not for long term use and tbh I don't really like using steroids on her she's only 11.

Haffiana · 09/03/2022 12:06

EBay is the only answer for Selenium Sulphide shampoos including Selsun. You may need to find a USA/overseas stockist if you want stronger than a 1% suspension.

BigHeartyTruffle · 09/03/2022 12:10

Vichy Dercos is AMAZING. My scalp was awful and for the first time in years it’s pretty much dandruff free.

My hair is quite a dry curly / frizzy texture and it seems to work with that too - stuff like Nizoral makes it into a birds nest

This did not work for me but the Vichy Dercos worked. It is amazing and the ingredients in the shampoo are almost same as the older L’Oréal orange shampoo and Vichy and L’Oréal are the same company so makes sense. It’s just, this is more expensive but totally worth it.
