Has anyone found a good replacement for that fab selenium orange L'Oréal anti dandruff shampoo?

L'Oréal made the BEST shampoo ever ,it was in a dark blue bottle, then they re branded it to Men's anti dandruff shampoo and it was in a black bottle with an orange lid.

Then they discontinued itHmm

I emailed them ages ago and they have no plans to rebrand or replace it.

The fuckers Angry

I bought loads and had a secret hoard that the rest if the family were not allowed to touch but I'm down to my last half a bottle.

Head and Shoulders with argan oil was a good replacement for a bit as was TBS ginger shampoo buyy recently I've been getting flaky/itchy again and I washed my hair this morning with some shampoo from my secret stash and honestly my hair looks and feels fabulous. No flakes, no itch, just nice shiny swishy hair.

I stood in Boots for ages looking at shampoos and have bought some of the Loreal clay stuff but not holding out much hope tbh.

There was also a Boots own make sensitive range with a sensitive scalp lotion as well as shampoo and conditioner, anyone used that?

I could weep, I had a crap scalp for 25 years and L'Oréal was perfect Sad

Any suggestions?

ihw92 I think this was the thread but I think it’s more about using it on the face (my seb derm is also on my face). Apologies. I only skim read it earlier. www.reddit.com/r/SebDerm/comments/9tdkst/i_have_been_using_only_mct_oil_for_over_1_year_to/

This Vichy is meant to be a good dupe: www.vichy.co.uk/hair/concern/dandruff
Has the same active ingredient.

ProjectGainsborough · 05/04/2019 07:25

I miss the L’Oréal one too!

Philip Kingsley itchy flaky is good, but so damned expensive. Now I just use a sultans free shampoo and the Philip Kingsley scalp tonic which works and seems to last longer 🤷🏽‍♀️

Fazackerley · 05/04/2019 07:48

The head and shoulders control has selenium sulfide in, and is cheaper than the Vichy

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 05/04/2019 08:10

Head and Shoulders is a tiny little bottle!

I've ordered some Vichy, got it for £7.99 including delivery. Looks hopeful, will repost neck once I've tried it!

This stuff is available in the USA but not in the UK it seems, it looks a good replacement from reading reviews. Why don't we have it here FFS?

Oh,on closer inspection Amazon deliver! It's a huge bottle so of o only need to use it a couple of times a week it'll last . Will give it a go after I try the Vichy one.

Ginger shampoo and conditioner from the body shop.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 05/04/2019 08:55

The ginger shampoo is ok,doesn't clear it if I'm having a flare up though.

Ah, sorry. Skinshop.co.uk have some great products my DH uses their shampoo.

Also, recently went to Marrakech and they recommended pure argon oil as a treatment.

Fazackerley · 05/04/2019 11:20

I've had a bad flare up recently and neat Nizoral all over the scalp then massaged in and left for an hour sorted it. I did that twice. Then nice natural shampoo from the health food shop (faith in nature I think)

Fazackerley · 05/04/2019 11:20

I don't have dandruff though, just an incredibly itchy scalp.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 05/04/2019 12:10

I do use argan oil but it doesn't clear it once I've got a flare up.

I've just bought some Boots own Intensive Care lotion ,feels really nice on my hair line. You just put it on and leave it.

Have you tried looking for the L'oreal orange discontinued one in a branch of Boyes? L'oreal discontinued my favourite roll-on deodorant a few years ago and I regularly find it for £1 in Boyes. I think they must buy up tons of discontinued stuff to flog off cheap.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 06/04/2019 10:49

I've not heard of Boyes,we haven't got one round here. It's been discontinued for a year now so I expect anything that's left over had been bought up and on eBay, it was going for a fortune at one point.

Great news! Where did you find it?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 07/04/2019 00:21

I checked on eBay and Amazon and there was nothing and by mistake I clicked on Google images and it led me to an independent chemist in London so ordered some immediatelyGrin

Dame. Has your order arrived? And are they the orange bottles?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 11/04/2019 15:50

Nothing yet...

Have you tried the L'Oreal Photoclear spray? You spray it directly onto your scalp and leave it - it's just cleared a flare up for me. For some reason when I originally bought it I thought you applied it and washed it off within 10mins, actually read the instructions again the other day and realised you leave it on!

I prefer something extra like this because none of the dandruff shampoos and conditioners do much for my hair but this means I can use whichever ones I fancy.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 11/04/2019 15:51

Getting on surprising well with the loreal clay shampoo but I think that's because I used the orange stuff beforehand.

My Vichy stuff turned up, not used that yet, looks orange,so also hopeful.
